@phambo101 he personally didn't do it, although he probably had a lot to do with it behind the scenes. His wife Magda along with the help of a Nazi who i believe was some type of doctor, put the children to sleep and then poisoned them with cyanide. After that, Joseph and Magda killed themselves outside of the bunker in the gardens. Helga, the oldest, was the only one of the children that resisted. This girl, Hedwig, was the first to be killed. Truely tragic that this happened.
poor little dear children not only this little one, but the children who died in jasinovic where they gassed them and had taken them without their parents, and the priests took the infants by the ankles and swung them so their little heads broke open against the wall or the truck. i heard the interview with the eyewitnesses its on the internet. the little ones don't even know what is going on. its just sickening what happened all the unnecessary death. but if the russians had gotten these kids..
@ShishiSonson No, it was needed. Imagine if only the russians get them ! Or imagine themselves let face the lies and not lies of their father's ideal.... If I were one of his childs I will preer to be killed that to survive in such a horrid Fall......
@ShishiSonson No, it was needed. Imagine if only the russians get them ! Or imagine themselves let face the lies and not lies of their father's ideal.... If I were one of his childs I will prefer to be killed that to survive in such a horrid Fall......
@silentobservor I hope you will also spare a thought for the hundreds of thousands of equally beautiful Jewish and Roma children , starved, gassed and shot in the death camps.
@eddie123e Thank you for your concern. Yes, my heart is constantly broken for the victims of the holocaust. I am Jewish and have relatives who perished in the Shoah ... I also wear a "never again" bracelet every day and have pledged to never forget.
Again, I thank you for your concern. The world would be a better place with more people like you.
She is absolutely adorable, it's so cute when she finishes her song and says "the song is over" : D
Poor girl, it's a pity that her and her siblings had monsters for parents. Yet perhaps Magda and Josef did them a small favour in killing them, at least they wouldn't have to live with the shame of what they're parents did. But the children should never have to pay for the sins of the parents. They too were the victims of the Nazi regime.
This beautiful little child and her sibbling died because the Goebbels did not want them to live in a world without Nazis... nice mentality... If the parents wanted to commit suicide, it was their right (however cowardly yet "good ridance to bad rubbish") but killing the kids was perverse... Not surprising though, typical nazi cruelty...
Did you know, J.K. Rowling named Harry Potter's owl 'Hedwig' after this little girl?
Anyway
A fine example of childhood innocence poisoned and indoctrinated into a warped and sick way of life treasured and supported by her father, a man who was a part of Hitler's inner circle.
Rest in peace, little one. God knows you would have become something different if you had had another person as a father. Same goes for many other German children, who grew up under the Third Reich.
This is a little bit creepy to think that this pretty, little girl was linked to someone like Hitler : / However this film is a nice reminder of a life that was cut short.
I feel sorry for the children, but at least they didnt suffer, the Russians would have tortured these poor inncoent children. They would have suffered horrifically had the pigs from the east got them.
@ProLife7777777 But it wasn't necessary that the russians would catch them. Hanna Reitsch told in Bunker she wanted to fly the children from Berlin ( 'For heaven's saken Mrs. Goebbels, the children cannot stay here'), Speer wanted to take them with and more people. Even Goebbels wanted to sent them away, it was Magda's decision to pull them from home into the bunker and not to allow that they are again brought away from Berlin.
BTW: It is not a ladybird in the children's song, it's a junebug.:)
@iriyap No, they wouldn't. If Magda would had let them go they would have been in Bavaria and the americans would have 'got' them; the other Nazi's kids did survive too, nobody was killed or slaughtered.
She sounds so sweet! Its sad that her mother killed her but she would've grown up hearing what terrible things her father did and she would've been ashamed.
I think if they had the choice they would have chosen life, not death.
It's said Helga knew that they had to die and cried softly when they had to go to bed this night. It is unbelieveable that a mother could put her children in a plane and flew them INTO the inferno. If someone would tell such a story you would say its a lie but in fact it happened. These children had everything, a pony, a Kruse-Doll, a nurse, even braces on the teeth (Helmut) but finally they weren't allowed to stay alive.
Of course the communist russians would have slaughtered these children! They did it also in the XX century to the 5 children of emperor Nicholas II, or not?
There's absolutely no certainty or even likelihood that the Bolsheviks would have bayoneted them, MORON.. Much would depend on what group of soldiers or officers discovered them, or when and who they surrendered to. Also, they could at least have been given the chance of escape with some of the surviving adults in the bunker. Any parent worthy of the name would have wanted to at least give them a chance of life, but the Goebbels couldn't bear to let their kids live on in an Allies world..
It's haunting that a little girl of four should be singing of such things, but such was the life and experience of most little ones at that time in German history.
@jbmadvids4401 Most American kids grow up singing "Ring Around the Rosie" which is about dying from the plague, lol...but they don't know the meaning behind it, just as these German kids didn't know the true meaning behind these songs.
@lollynyc Yes, that's true. I sang it in my childhood in the sixties too. I asked what Pomeria was and when I was told 'a country' it was okay for me, when you are three or four years old you don't think about a song.
@lollynyc "Ring a ring a roses" is an English song but the original meaning is lost. Apparently though it is not to do with the black death plague. While British kids were singing this in the playgrounds in the 30's German kids were singing "You be careful what you say or you'll go up the chimney".
@jbmadvids4401 The song wasn't from nazitime. It existed long before and it existed after war too. I suppose it is from the time of the thirty-year.war in the seventeenth century.
I can't believe Joseph murdered all of his children, including this girl, before killing himself!!!
