When using a sewing machine to embroider, use a "stabilizer" material. They sell it plain, iron-on, or peel-n-stick. It's a spcl type of paper, designed so the needle will easily penetrate (regular printer paper is thicker and stronger, dulling needles faster). You can draw on it, or print on it (cut it to regular paper size) or you can "shadowboard" it by drawing on reg. paper, then layering it and the stab'zer against an outside window.

Thanks for sharing this! I did pretty well on my first try too. Mine looks kinda crude (you did a better job), but you definitely know what it is.
