I'm a bit mystified by all this stuff. When i want to download a video I put the mouse over the video window and a button opens up saying "Download this video". I click it, and hey presto, the real player pluggin downloads the video to my computer.

Why are there hundreds of tutorials about this topic when the browser does if for you?

Yes thats the RealPlayer Downloading it for you which requires RealPlayer. IcyVideo requires nothing and you get more options to choose from when downloading.
