I prefer the term "uniform" to "costume" when talking about government gangmembers, because of this quote from Nietzsche: "Uniform" one calleth what they wear; may it not be uniform what they therewith hide!"
In other words, they wear uniforms on the outside, because they are uniform on the inside.
When you are dealing with any man in uniform, you are not dealing with an individual, you are dealing with a group, and that is the implicit psychological distinction between you and them.
I completely agree with almost everything Stefan espouses. The simple solution is that there are certain human rights that cannot be violated by an individual or a group, corporation or government. When we adhere to this TOTALLY, then and ONLY THEN will we start to see our world begin to heal.
What a load of nonsense. Just because the speaker can think of examples where people are forced to comply with societal laws that does not mean that society based on anarchy would be less violent. The rules in place are there for a reason and those who think that there are simple solutions to complex problems are guilty of magical thinking.
@hamobu Hey I'm just going to respond to your STUPITY because I like using libs for punching bags . You,my friend with no money for big time lawyers and not heeding gov't examples will be sent to prison to be repeatedly gang raped . You'll , lol pay taxes then
@fabianstraregy You can either pay the sate for police protection, or you will be paying your local mobster for "protection" (mostly from him). Seriously, if you don't like taxes than move to Somalia. There are no government taxes there, but you will have to pay money on five militant check-points just to go to bathroom.
@hamobu Hey Mr. Hamobu , I was expecting a scathing reply from you because of my unkind " stupidity statement . plese accept my apologies . @fabianstraregy Well I am not judging Somalis. I am just point out what a country without government would look like. In fact, Somalis themselves eventually found out that they preferred the tyranny of taliban like government called "Union of Islamic Courts" to living in a country with no government. We, of course, did not like that so we got Ethiopia to invade Somalia. But things are the way they are for a reason and there are no simple solutions to big problems.

@hamobu Ignorant individuals such as you don't bother to do research but endlessly regurgitate mainstream cliches. Somalia is the result of communist tyranny in the 90s which destroyed the traditional systems of law and tribal organization. Tyranny destroys natural social order. You are either childishly uninformed or willfully false to say that freedom would lead to worse results than dictatorship in which one ruling elite decides for everyone else. Free people defend themselves.
@leafwatch Well there is no government in Somalia now, so everything must be peachy, right? Don't they have freedom and guns in Somalia now? What more could you want. Go move to Somalia - the libertarian paradise.
@hamobu Child, freedom is an social ethic based on personal ethics, not a magical formula to easily replace the systemic chaos of tyranny. You apparently assume you & most people are not be capable of that personal ethic, so you want a substitute elite that is supposed to embody ethics you fear ordinary people can't/won't. You live in a nightmare world where armies and police are perverse substitutes for character and ethics. I'm sorry for you. To have no hope for a better world is sad.
@leafwatch Somalia has been without government for 20 years. How long will you blame prior government for a non-working system. A problem with debating a libertarian is that no matter how obvious the failure of free market it, they always find some way to blame some government.
@hamobu Wrong again. Does your cluelessness never embarrass you? After civil wars and foreign invasions Somalia formed a coalition government in 2009. The real question is why you have been so easily duped into believing it is in your self interest to push for coercive government everywhere on earth. Unless you are part of the 1% at the top of the food chain, you will live the rest of your life as a controlled serf under one authoritarian regime or another. State religion security blanket?
@leafwatch Not sure if you are talking about Islamic courts union. When that formed, Somalis were overjoyed that they could go down to the Market without having to pay armed gangs. They would rather live under Islamic tyrants than anarchy that you are advocating. Truth is that your system does not work. It is not that you have not proven to that your system works. It is that it has been demonstrated that your system does not work. The proof is in the pudding.
@hamobu You have the usual collectivist disease of speaking for whole groups as if individuals within said groups were of one mind. Thanks for telling us all what "they" would prefer. And in your arrogance you are sure you know my "system" of advocacy, and that you have "proof" that my "system" does not work. Mr/Ms. Statist, you have thousands of years of history proving that coercion never works except, temporarily, for rulers at the top. Wherever individual liberty is respected it works
@leafwatch My statement on Somalian people came from an article I read in which people on the street were interviewed. you can find the similar article with the same information on BBC news site. It is called Profile: Somalia's Islamic Courts. For some reason I don't think that youtube will let me post links.
@hamobu "....pay armed gangs. They would rather live under Islamic tyrants than anarchy that you are advocating."
The definition of a state IS AN ARMED GANG. The pomp and circumstance of the larger armed gangs does not change their character. This is what the anarchist REJECTS, not advocates.
Your statement makes no sense.

I think that most people living under the influence of The Anglo American Empire are just A OK with the murder based society. Until...... it starts to effect them personally. Case in Point. When conducting carnal warfare back in the day when bullets were a penny, and every bullet netted 5 dollars worth of really cool stolen stuff from our so called "Enemies" we were a patriotic killing machine. But now that the bullets cost a hundred thousand bucks a pop and still only net 5 bucks........
@Xtro2005 A rightous war by definition is any war that is won by the good guys. Since the good guys are usually the people that are executed for refusal to participate in war, that would make the term pretty much unusable in aby real world scenario. Oh BTW you are absolutely correct.
I don't think murder would be so rampant if it weren't presented as an option from childhood to maturity. Saying that "murder is wrong" is still presenting it as an option. Smash your television.
It is also based on lying/lies. Daily I come across things that have been said to me, that are just not true. Children are lied to regularly. Or information that they need is withheld. Creating a mind that is not aligned with reality, but in large part filled with fantasies and guesses.
"solutions" like seasteading and the venus project are really not viable alternatives. just like our current socio-economic system system they would require importation of resources. and any socio-economic system that requires importation of resources will inherently be based on violence. the only socio-economic systems that have ever not been based on violence are ones based on reciprocal relationships with local communities. these are also the only systems that have ever been sustainable.
did you notice that when there are riots in the western controlled countries the media always talks about anarchy and voilence, but when its in countries in the middle east its always the people try to break free...lol
Hey Stefan, what are your views on Ghadaffi and his Green Book. He wants to minimize or infact even completely abolish the state/goverment and basicly anarchy with people themselves making choises.
DAMASCUS SYRIA–OLDEST CITY,NEVER BEEN DESTROYED(ISAIAH 17:1)ISRAEL DIVIDED(JOEL 4:1-4)JESUS SAID,HIS 2ND COMING,IF U SEE DMASCUS DSTROYED & SRAEL DVIDED.IF U THINK QUAKES R COMMON THN BELIEVE THESE 2 PROPHECIES,THESE R IN THE NEWS NOW.JOHN 12:25-26 ANYONE WHO LOVES THEIR LIFE WILL LOSE IT,WHLE ANYONE WHO HATES THEIR LIFE N THIS WORLD WILL KEEP IT FOR ETRNAL LIFE.26 WHOEVER SERVS ME MUST FOLLOW ME& WHRE I AM,MY SERVANT ALSO WILL BE.MY FATHER WILL HONOR THE ONE WHO SERVES ME.HELL IS REAL.REPENT!
The prevailing violence..... like the invasions and bombings in the middle east that they lie to eveyone about. The government makes up lies to commit genocide and says it brings "freedom" but if you don't agree or point out that they are lying then they sick their goons on you.
@organicshadows because there's this very powerful contradicting lie being passed around by the media and unfortunately that's what the majority listen to and believe.
...and if you sell poisonous expired unregulated food to your restaurant clients to make more profit, no people with blue costumes will come and you will get away with killing them. That is your liveocrasy.
@5m1nutes , the restaurants reputation is at risk if it serves bad or even poisonous food. it is in the restaurant owners interest to only buy stock from people he trusts (or knows he can trust trough good reputation).
something as horrible as you describe could still happen of course, but there are plenty of ways the public and the restaurant could react.
taking a hypothetical (and I might add unlikely) scenario and screaming "See we need a government to handle this" is a little silly.
@5m1nutes Also, while I have difficulty believing this myself. there are plenty of people out there that believe that the government is actually poisoning food, water and medicine.
I think its a little far fetched myself, but it does make your hypothetical pretty ironic.
@Talvara I don`t care what you BELIEVE, I care about the facts. And I don`t see how your hypothetical beliefs can make my comment look ironic. This guy is targeting spoiled first world believers who haven`t got any idea what is like to live in countries where the law is abused on daily bases and the state is ineffective. If you disagree, This guy is comparing the current system to some utopia. It is not perfect but it is far, far better than it have ever been in history.
So Seasteading isn't a good enough alternative either.
An RBE seems to be, but that requires people to understand what human nature and human behavior is. Unfortunately too many people care to know the difference. Really, you rather own a land and a bunch of "rights" than to be free and have free access to anything? What a waste of resources...
KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR RRSPs!!! Sorry about the caps, but it is going to take a sh1t kicking this year. Seen it drop drastically in the first half year, so i pulled it out.
It's so nice that every time I watch Stefan's videos I remember there are other human beings with the ability to have rational thoughts. Thank you! You're saving my sanity.
I see your point "Alex" is it? However, murder is killing with malicious intent and law enforcement is not that. So we may live in a deathocracy but not based on murder.
@Uaz31 Killing someone for refusing unjustified imprisonment for not having their money stolen IS murder, and that's what happens if you refuse to fund the state. You can't sugar coat the false imprisonment of millions every year as "law enforcement"
It may be unjustified, immoral and just plain wrong but its still not murder, more like corruption or misguided institution of governance. Personally I think it all comes down to a sliding away from Bibical morals which effects the overall governance of insitutions. People start to set their own standards and everyone has a different perspective on how things should be. If that be the case, I believe it to be so, it will only get worse as time goes on with little spurts of correction.
Guns are for people to protect themselves from government. Property taxes are rent and are unjust. If people actually own their land then property taxes must be eliminated.
"You live in a murder based society!" But, if a landlord executes all his "rights" over his land, rights which you all agree he has individually, then he is "being a government" and "his land must be taken from him as it is the source of his power." Are you SURE you're all about "respecting personal property rights?" It sure doesn't sound like it to me! Personal property is a gaping hole big enough to drive the Death Star II through in your hypothesis. At least be honest about it, lying fool!
@LeksServices What's wrong with a person have sovereignty over his own property? The state claims sovereignty over everyone's property. Better a bunch of petty tyrants who only have sway over what is theirs than a muti-trillion dollar death machine having sway over everyone.
@LeksServices You can choose to rent from a landlord, you can't choose to pay taxes or not to a government. You sign a contract with a landlord, if violated by either party, grievances can be brought to a mediator. You do not sign a contract with the politicians that claim to speak for government, though you are told that you have in fact signed it by virtue of being born in a certain geographical area, and then these politicians seek to impose there will upon you, without recourse on your part.
The reality is the problem is a lot bigger than just statism. It's easy to predict anything in this game, just use logic and common sense. The whole economy is a fiction. A profiteering scam from end to end. So, it makes no real difference to discuss these numbers. Local goods, services, and production/manufacturing is the solution to the economy. Not bankers, wall st, and political systems.
Philosophy is all good, but practical solutions are a lot more constructive in the now.
If you beat a Dead Horse hard enough and squint your eyes. I'm sure you could mistake its twitching For the signs of life. Welcome to the new economy.
Fucking breeders, now there's not even sufficient jobs for all the kids breeders impose the human condition onto. I hate breeders, stop tearing others out of the contentment of nonexistence and casting them into this hellish world Stefbot predicts. Unless you're some sadistic piece of shit, why would you want to murder your children with that murder machine, the cycle of death and birth, casting others into the "rat race"? Breeders are subhuman, it's no wonder breeders tend to have lower IQs.
@MassZombicide If you really believe life is not worth living or won't be in the future, it seems silly to not kill yourself while criticizing others for continuing the human race. Just saying.
For 1 thing, WE'RE already here, the point is that making yet another generation endure this murder machine is less moral than statism. I'm not suicidal & clearly I'm a busy informing people like you not to force incarnations of me into your hell hole / prey - predator playground. Stop forcing rape, car crash, cancer, old age (shitting themselves in agony with incontinence & diseases of age) et cetera victims and serial killers, rapists & bullies into this world. Hypocrisy would be breeding!
@MassZombicide Nope. The fact is that you clearly find some value in living life, demonstrated by your choice to continue living. If there is value in living a human life, then it would seem there is also value in creating a human life.
@MassZombicide You are making no sound moral argument. You are stating your view that existence is necessarily bad so everyone should stop having children. This is a guilt trip you are pushing on others and as such is a deliberate harm to them.
If you actually had a sound argument then that might justify your bile and viciousness. I'M pretty sure you don't and I'M pretty sure, based on your attitude, that you're pushing AN primarily for your own psychological reasons.
@shlockofgod Your opinion, based on an emotional response rather than logic, that I did not make a sound argument (even in the 500 characters I managed to do so in) is what's not a sound argument, not even one valid. In case you hadn't noticed, that those who breeders impose life / suffering onto will inevitably die a likely slow and painful death, the choice being that they may either die of accident, disease (including age) or murder is NOT an opinion. History is birth, struggle & death.
@MassZombicide It's not an emotional response that leads me to conclude that you made no sound argument; it's an empirical observation.
"breeders impose life / suffering onto will inevitably die a likely slow and painful death...History is birth, struggle & death"
Pure rhetoric and propaganda. Spouting your view of the worst aspects of life and then asserting it's necessarily wrong to have a child is not even a valid argument. It's just vicious browbeating.
Pessimism is the bodyguard of socialism. Socialist policies always hurt economic growth and well-being, but its apologists, like Obama, have to talk down the economy and say that 10% unemployment is normal, stagflation is normal, ATMs kill jobs, etc.
@EconomicLiteracyNow and war and mindless consumption is the bodyguard of capitalism- either way were fucked-capitalism relies on war, abuse of the enviroment and selling people shit they dont need- once people turn frugal and thrifty like they are starting to because of the recession the myth of capitalism fails- i shop garage sales or ebay etc for my things i need cheaply knowing full well that by not shopping at chain stores im putting people out of work-it relies on materialism and greed
@SethofWinnipeg That would be the ideal case, unfortunally they have most of the guns and are willing to use them, if push comes to shove. Futhermore they have a huge part of the population that supports the state in general. So we are fuck and it has become so bad that if you want liberty you have to build your hose in the middle of the high seas and hope that the statist dont come and try to impose taxes on you again.
Hmmm.... so you have to buy it is you have 50 workers, what if you have 48 workers and hire 3 firms to do things for you? What exactly is the definition of "worker"? I predict a lot of lawyers making a lot of money out of that question.
@kroovyandcal just like a battered wife you too are emotionally twisted and no matter what the state does you will refuse to lay charges; after all the state is still good and you can change it.. This message really isn't for you because you are immune to logic but others you aren't twisted need to see the juxtaposition of your sick world view against reason and logic.
Man! Being a blue collar guy, I never had any respect for philosophy. I just thought it was a bunch of impractical fluffy Fu Fu thinking, where people with long beards run through fields chasing imaginary butterflies, hug trees and eat certain kinds of mushrooms. You've shown me that I was very wrong about that. Philosophy is a serious tool that can be used to cut through the BS of the world. Great job!
@vention4wh props to you. That is an amazing realization to come to not just about philosophy but for yourself. I wish we were all as able to change our thinking when we are shown evidence and fact to justify telling ourselves we are wrong. I think you will really enjoy digging into more philosophy and applying it as a tool to the BS you speak of.
@vention4wh I feel truly sad with people like you who call ecstatically relating to this amazing world is..."fluffy fu fu thinking"...THAT...THAt IS the problem in the world.
@zezt Did you miss the part where he stated he now thinks he was "very wrong" about that stance? do you really think pointing your finger at someone who finally gets it with "you are the problem" is the civil or constructive thing to do?
I hope you feel moved to apologise for reading over the important bit in your (I guess and hope) rage.
Sure. I'm a heavy diesel truck mechanic. I help keep the machines of civilization turning. I'm very lucky in that I've found a job I actually enjoy (most of the time). It's very depression proof too. Back in 98 I used to brag to my friends (who mostly made more money than I did, since they were in internet start-ups and IT guys) "We could have a second great depression and I'd still be working". Looks like I get to test out that boast. So far so good.
@vention4wh Oh yes. Stef opened my eyes to the real power of philosophy too. :) It is like a sharp sword. Just like with other useful things, we were told it's not actually useful. Because, the people in power naturally does not want us to be wielding this thing.
Government:People: :Slaughterhouse:Animals. Brilliant analogy, and entirely accurate.
The only difference is the farmer cannot use the *threat* of the slaughterhouse to control the animals--or God knows he would.

5m1nutes 5 months ago
@5m1nutes , the restaurants reputation is at risk if it serves bad or even poisonous food. it is in the restaurant owners interest to only buy stock from people he trusts (or knows he can trust trough good reputation).
something as horrible as you describe could still happen of course, but there are plenty of ways the public and the restaurant could react.
taking a hypothetical (and I might add unlikely) scenario and screaming "See we need a government to handle this" is a little silly.
Talvara 5 months ago
@5m1nutes Also, while I have difficulty believing this myself. there are plenty of people out there that believe that the government is actually poisoning food, water and medicine.
I think its a little far fetched myself, but it does make your hypothetical pretty ironic.
Talvara 5 months ago

I see your point "Alex" is it? However, murder is killing with malicious intent and law enforcement is not that. So we may live in a deathocracy but not based on murder.
Uaz31 5 months ago
@Uaz31 Killing someone for refusing unjustified imprisonment for not having their money stolen IS murder, and that's what happens if you refuse to fund the state. You can't sugar coat the false imprisonment of millions every year as "law enforcement"
LTBL88 5 months ago
@LTBL88

If people actually own their land then property taxes must be eliminated.
jimbobubbadj 5 months ago 2
"You live in a murder based society!" But, if a landlord executes all his "rights" over his land, rights which you all agree he has individually, then he is "being a government" and "his land must be taken from him as it is the source of his power." Are you SURE you're all about "respecting personal property rights?" It sure doesn't sound like it to me! Personal property is a gaping hole big enough to drive the Death Star II through in your hypothesis. At least be honest about it, lying fool!
LeksServices 5 months ago
@LeksServices What's wrong with a person have sovereignty over his own property? The state claims sovereignty over everyone's property. Better a bunch of petty tyrants who only have sway over what is theirs than a muti-trillion dollar death machine having sway over everyone.
inibo 5 months ago

MassZombicide 5 months ago
@MassZombicide If you really believe life is not worth living or won't be in the future, it seems silly to not kill yourself while criticizing others for continuing the human race. Just saying.
105Mittens 5 months ago
For 1 thing, WE'RE already here, the point is that making yet another generation endure this murder machine is less moral than statism. I'm not suicidal & clearly I'm a busy informing people like you not to force incarnations of me into your hell hole / prey - predator playground. Stop forcing rape, car crash, cancer, old age (shitting themselves in agony with incontinence & diseases of age) et cetera victims and serial killers, rapists & bullies into this world. Hypocrisy would be breeding!
MassZombicide 5 months ago
@MassZombicide Nope. The fact is that you clearly find some value in living life, demonstrated by your choice to continue living. If there is value in living a human life, then it would seem there is also value in creating a human life.
105Mittens 5 months ago
@MassZombicide You are making no sound moral argument. You are stating your view that existence is necessarily bad so everyone should stop having children. This is a guilt trip you are pushing on others and as such is a deliberate harm to them.
If you actually had a sound argument then that might justify your bile and viciousness. I'M pretty sure you don't and I'M pretty sure, based on your attitude, that you're pushing AN primarily for your own psychological reasons.
shlockofgod 5 months ago
@shlockofgod Your opinion, based on an emotional response rather than logic, that I did not make a sound argument (even in the 500 characters I managed to do so in) is what's not a sound argument, not even one valid. In case you hadn't noticed, that those who breeders impose life / suffering onto will inevitably die a likely slow and painful death, the choice being that they may either die of accident, disease (including age) or murder is NOT an opinion. History is birth, struggle & death.
MassZombicide 5 months ago
@MassZombicide It's not an emotional response that leads me to conclude that you made no sound argument; it's an empirical observation.
"breeders impose life / suffering onto will inevitably die a likely slow and painful death...History is birth, struggle & death"
Pure rhetoric and propaganda. Spouting your view of the worst aspects of life and then asserting it's necessarily wrong to have a child is not even a valid argument. It's just vicious browbeating.
Do you have a sound moral argument?
shlockofgod 5 months ago
Pessimism is the bodyguard of socialism. Socialist policies always hurt economic growth and well-being, but its apologists, like Obama, have to talk down the economy and say that 10% unemployment is normal, stagflation is normal, ATMs kill jobs, etc.

Donatellangelo 5 months ago
@EconomicLiteracyNow and war and mindless consumption is the bodyguard of capitalism- either way were fucked-capitalism relies on war, abuse of the enviroment and selling people shit they dont need- once people turn frugal and thrifty like they are starting to because of the recession the myth of capitalism fails- i shop garage sales or ebay etc for my things i need cheaply knowing full well that by not shopping at chain stores im putting people out of work-it relies on materialism and greed

Great job!
vention4wh 5 months ago 96
@vention4wh props to you. That is an amazing realization to come to not just about philosophy but for yourself. I wish we were all as able to change our thinking when we are shown evidence and fact to justify telling ourselves we are wrong. I think you will really enjoy digging into more philosophy and applying it as a tool to the BS you speak of.
