  • I moved to sac a few years ago and I can't wait to move back to my non-ghetto quiet beautiful hometown

  • Aww <3 Love this video!

I lived in napa all my life until a couple months ago when i moved to South Pasadena -__-

I miss Napa. It's beautiful. But you're completely right about it!

The funniest thing about the tourists is when they get dressed up to go downtown. That's when you can spot them the easiest! Hahaha. But yes, it's a very sleepy town and very curious kids. Who sometimes like to get in trouble.

    Anyways, thanks for posting this!

  • @imway2c00l Hi, thanks! Yes, those tourists can be spotted easily. In the summertime it's the men with khaki pants and Hawaiian shirts tucked in (or a tucked in polo golf shirt) driving a white or silver Chrysler Sebring convertible for a rental (sometimes driving the wrong way down our one-way streets). When they walk, they walk slowly and appear aloof. Very stereotypical, but I worked for years in the hotel industry and I swear, 70% of them fit that profile. LOL

  • Come one, come all, to the SWINE valley, Napa, Californicate...

Land of the brain-dead yuppie and the Napalo...

There are no fat-assed and ugly women in Napa...we have what are known as

NAPALOS. AHHHH, Napa...a grr-r-r-reat place to live.

Isn't that what that fatuous dimwit, Jeff Schechtman still flatulates over the air

    on KVON?

  • An unemployed Phi Beta Kappa

Got snockered on junk wine in Napa

    He slurred through his spillage,

    “What a bashackward village...

It oughdda be blown off the mappa.”

  • One things for sure after watching this video. After living here 30 years ago, the Napa I remember has been swallowed up by a snobatorium of mediocrity. I can never go home again because there is no home to go home to. Thank you City of Napa board of directors of catering to tourists and dropping the locals like an empty can of beer out of the car window.

  • Abertu ra

  • the entrance to westwood hills made me smile. thanks for the video!

  • I appreciate the very truthful commentary. Its most of the negative things that you bring up which is why I left that snobatorium in the first place. And I have no plans to return just to see a bunch of tourists and a board of directors who still, to this day, dont have a clue about how to run a town. Even when I lived there 30 years ago it was STILL about the tourists and screw the locals. Again, very well done and truthful presentation.

  • For all the young folk who are looking for something to do, check out:::

    wanderingrose (dot) org

And..... the Napa City population is estimated to be closer to 120,000 which includes non documented peoples.

Thank you for the video Seth!

  • @oceanh2o Thank you for your comment! :-) I think a lot of young folk and adults alike forget about what things are available to our youth here. Wanderingrose is a great website!

  • Taqueria la playita !

  • i agree the gangs are a joke u dont mess with them they dont mess with u at least that how it is for me no i am not a gang member or a ex gang member i lived their for 16 years in napa and its just the same annoying tourist just like how it goes on at new tech......

  • Very well done. I was really impressed with Napa during my last visit. 7 years ago I moved from NYC to the Bay area. Every time I visit Napa I see change. Despite the fact that the largest population increase seems to be over 50 yrs old, the majority of resident in Napa are between 40-50yrs old. Therefore it's always a pleasure to see new restaurants like MORIMOTO attract a younger, hipper, adult audience to liven up the area.

  • @pattyazzarello Thank you! Yes, I too am pleased with how these new restaurants are changing the area. You may have heard of "The West End" of downtown Napa on First St. That area has seen a huge revitalization, as well as the area where Morimoto is. I hope the rest of downtown Napa follows suit. There is a lot of potential for our town!

  • napa valley is so boring

  • napa locals are either druggies or alcoholics. i know i fucking live here

  • I am teenager living in Napa and i personally believe Napa is one of the safest places you can live in California. The "gangs" are a joke. Also Napa is not boring. There is live music, free plays, open mics, a scatter of decent parks and a lot more. It is only boring if you want to raise hell...

please stop hating on us mexicans

  • Good job.

  • napa sucks for locals. i live in napa, the city does nothing for us napkins, especially the youth. theres nothing fun to do and thats why everyone turns to drinking and smoking weed, AKA going to "parties"

  • Oh gawsh, i'm a 14 year old living in napa and i think its so friggin boring!!! The house that i live in (and have been ever since i was 2) has a GREAT view that set the value of our house to be 1 million dollars :D yay!

  • i live in napa it sucks

  • interesting...there was a bunch i could agree with, and some I didn't...but it was interesting to see a look at my hometown

  • Yeah I live in napa and it's a terrible place for teens, there was never much to do when I was younger.

  • also grew up in napa since 82. left in 99 to move in a real city. yeah what you call gangs are nothing more than ur polices problem to handle their business. i know they like to bust 15 year olds for cigarettes, while they SHOULD be arresting violent criminals (of which you have few) shut up.

  • hahahaha polluted rivers, yes. gangs... kind of. lolwut

  • Did you ever think to mention that Napa isn't a great place to raise children? Or that Napa has a ongoing gang problem that it refuses to notice? Yes, you cover the adult aspects of Napa, but what about the kids? There is nothing for them, so if your planning on living here, make damn sure your kids are out of the house first.

  • @roysanshuck Good points, and I do acknowledge our gang problem, and it is bad and getting worse. Nothing for kids to do is a matter of perspective, however. There is always something for kids to do and I don't buy the "nothing for kids to do" for one second. There's the Boy's and Girl's Club, Boy Scouts, parks, skate park, movie theater, kids' programs at the NVC, Summer Camp, nice hiking areas around the area and valley, and other programs for kids. As they get older........

  • @roysanshuck .......there are volunteer programs and opportunities to get involved in the community, and work. Not to mention any endless number of hobbies. Granted, there could always be more things available to kids, but I grew up in Napa along with my friends and we never had any shortage of things to do. I think those that complain about a lack of activities for kids will realize there's more to do than immediately meets the eye. I'd like to do a story about this and list those things.

  • @roysanshuck Only if you're ignorant like yourself....

  • Very well done! I moved back home to Napa recently and this was a perfect "catchup!" Cheers!

  • @jimmyduhig696 Cool! When did you move away originally?

  • I lived here from birth 'til 1990,(mostly in Alta Heights), moved to SF for 20 years, and moved back home in 2010. I am actually 5th generation Napan. My Great Great Grandfather settled out on in the Carneros area in 1853. They called the road going out to the ranch Duhig road., and it's still called that. My grandfather actually wrote a book on Napa history. It is called "Huichica" . Anyway, thanks again for the video. I will be on the lookout for more. - Cheers - Jimmy

  • When People Ask Me What Napa is Like. i Send Them ThisVideo, haha

  • thats so true. i live in Napa and theres really nothing to do at night for teens

  • Very well done!

  • i live in napa. i have lived here my whole life and its sooo true how you describe napa!!! its funny how i know where you are. and how you talk about how napa is to the locals is soooo true!

  • Comment removed

  • Im living in Sacramento right now and when I moved to napa for a couple months to get away from it all. I was really disappointed. I really do not like napa what so ever. infact.... i completely hate it.

  • well your really wrong napas the best

  • but whats so great about it? i just hate it because when i was there. everybody who lived there was really stuck up and quiet. people were mean. rude. and it just seems like nobody there is human. i couldn't stand it what so ever. infact it was so lonely there that i got really depressed so i moved back to sacramento as soon as i could. right now im living in dublin ireland. and i comepletely love it.

there are much better places then napa in my oppinion. way much better.

  • It all depends on who you talk to just like anywhere else! I personally Adore living in Napa! There's gonna be snooty people anywhere

  • i live in saint helena...

  • Nice job! When you are ready to do an updated video, I would love to help. I am a local Napkin who works in film.

  • by callin these people of pure spanish descent "hispanics" u are labelin them as basically illegal aliens when these spanish americans have been there for centuries way before the anglos came....................

  • nice docu man. only thing i noticed was most of the shit was filmed downtown or on south napa where i live. i didnt see any mention about the parks like vine hill or the skatepark or anything about the schooling; (good or bad) justin siena is a pretty interesting aspect you might want to mention and anything about local bands because that is a huge scene lately

  • caliguy stfu shit

  • hey caliguy! who the fuck picks the the grapes for the wine? yes us mexicans..soo shut the fuck up unless your gona go bust your ass off and pick them!!!

  • and there hang out by home depot and give me my food at burger king. Then you guys send your kids to school without teaching them english that drags down the schooling system

  • bitch fuk you..they are tryin to support their families nd give them a good education..thats why we come over here bc we dont get that in mexico. for a better life. you shud be proud we come over here to your country!

so stfu and appreciate our hard work you racist cunt

  • actually, most farm workers across this great nation are American born...only 29% of farm workers are immigrants...this is true about constructuion workers and people who work in the service industry, the large majority of workers in these fields are American and non-Hispanic...

  • not bad kid-- good info → thxs . see you in a week !

  • Your not white? sure your not!! what are you than? and what is a white hispanic, you dumnass you got to throw the word white in there to make your people look good, but I live in Napa so your not going to fool me. And your from around here let me know where I can find you?

  • No, my mother is from the Philippines...A White Hispanic is a Hispanic of purly colonial Spanish or Portuguese decent who live in California...Almost all of them have been living in California, Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico ever since these states were part of Mexico or what used to be called New Spain...many of them still speak Spanish and concider themselves to be American but stil value their cultural and historical roots...

  • cali guy keep talking You make sense

  • those states belonged to new spain, mexico still didnt exist n then they just belonged to mexico for 8 whoopin years.

  • callin basically indians as "hispanics" is offensive.I dont see americans callin black americans as "anglos" or british just cos they speak english n by callin non white mexicans etc "hispanics" they put people against real hispanics ie white people of spanish descent n it also gives us a bad image even the retarded americans think if u are spanish u arent white haha lames get a clue fuckin indians have ruined our image

  • Even White-Hispanics call themselves Hispanics....anybody from Latin America, both white and non-white, call themselves Hispanic or Latino...

  • then wat a morons if they call themselves "hispanics" when they are white n when they know who americans think when they hear "hispanics"(non white people)i sure hope those white hispanics dont think the typical "hispanic" is not the same thing as them.

  • Nothing I said was wrong so i don't know why your even commenting me..."callin basically indians as "hispanics" is offensive" It may be offensive to you but that's your opinion, which doesn't really matter, and most people would disagree with you...People call white Hispanics as Hispanics, not just non-whites as Hispanics...People know that Spaniards are white because they are from Europe...everything you say is either an opinion or just not true...

  • i am not sayin u are wrong but callin non whites as "hispanics" is ridiculous cos u americans dont call black americans "britanics" just cos they speak english.U make distinctions like native american, white or black so u shouldve done distinctions with the spanish speakin people as well cos like in the us there are whites, indians, mixed, mulattos n blacks who speak spanish...n we wouldnt be told "u are white u dont look spanish or hispanic" by bright americans

  • You are a little confused, we don't call people by what langauge they speak, but what ethnicity they are and what continent they are from...The actual term used for black are "African American" and the offical term for white people in America are "European Americans because they orginate from Europe...People from Latin America are called "Latinos" or "Hispanics"...You don't call someone "Hispanic" because they speak Spanish...

  • really? lol many people say they call em hispanics cos they speak spanish..wat gives?lol u sure i am the confused one? xD

  • Comment removed

  • The reason you might not see them where you live is because most of them live in Southern California...Around 52% of Hispanic Americans are White...Even today, 10% to 15% of Mexico is White Mexican...35% of Cuba is White Cuban...the two South American countries with the largest white populations in Latin America is Argentina (89% White) and Uruguay (88% White)

  • Non-white Hispanics, both legal and illegal, have the highest crime rates for any group in the U.S. and are the least educated and are the reason why California public schools are ranked 48th out of 50 states...with 49% of public school kids being Hispanic, which includs white Hispanics, and they are a source of major crime and gangs in the L.A. area and the rest of California...they are also the reason why we have such high traffic in SoCal and in the L.A. area...

  • They also contribute to California's uncontrolled population growth problems...With 98% of California's population growth due to immigration, both legal and illegal, and most of the growth due to Hispanics, California's population will increase from 37 million today, to around 60 million by 2050, with most of that growth in one part of the state, Southern California...

  • California already suffers from massive debt, a massive deficit, high traffic, high crime, high taxes, high poverty, gangs, water and power shortages, a six year drought, overcrowded schools and Hospitals, massive urban development, failing public schools, failing infrastructure, population problems, and many more problems with most of these problems cuased by illegal immigrants...these problems will just increase with the extra population growth due to Hispanics...

  • good video! and if your a teenager theres nothing to do in the napa valley!

  • cool black Stallion my mom works there

  • It's a beautiful winery.

  • Sallysue35, stop your naggin..Mexican are the one's that made Napa what it is!! good or bad! if it wasn't for the hard working mexican people that killed them selve's working them field to so that the white man could take credit for that awsome views of the vineyards Napa would be what?

  • thats true you have the Robledo Family Winery as an example! thank you noventaz!!

  • Actually, Hispanics are a large source of crime, gangs, and poverty in Napa, especially illegal immigrants...They have caused more problems in Napa than ever did help...Even though I'm not white, I would agree that White Hispanics actually are the only Hispanics that actually contribute anything to Napa, or California, or even the U.S.

  • @noventaz you are so rediculous..yeah you people work hard in the vineyards but you guys ARE who brang the stupid gangs here and are the ones trashing this gorgeous place..that i would be embarassed to take credit for..you are a joke.

  • Well done.

  • population add another 5,000 illegal mexicans

  • Seth,

Nice presentation. All the best to you ...

  • Thank you so much!

  • Nicely made video. I would have liked for there to have been a mention of how unbearable Napa is for those under the legal drinking age. There is VERY little to do for that demographic. The only things that come to mind are the movie theater, the skate park, and MAYBE the bowling alley.

  • Errr....It's "Journey to Port Orchard" not "Historic Port Orchard"

  • Thanks, I'll check it out.

  • You put together a nice overview of my old hometown. I noticed on my last visit there that it was akward getting around by car. The amount of construction is amazing! Search "Historic Port Orchard" and see another attempt at a home town doc. It's where I now live and I like the place. It reminds me of the Napa I knew in the 60's.

  • live in napa im 13 and its realy boring if your over 21 its really funn

  • I used to live there 10 years ago for a lil while...I mean it was ok, but I am glad a moved out, I couldn't see myself going to high school there.

  • Deport Illegal Aliens!!

    Save The U.S.A!!

  • Seth!!! Awesome.............

Love that you are telling the story.

How are you?? Where are you??

    hit me up on facebook

    Alicia Pozas

    p.s Totally!!!

    Keep it up buddie

  • great job putting this together! Really does capture the truths about this town!

  • hahaha. i live in napa and i think this was pretty good at describing the town. it would have been cool to have to highschools in there too. i feel like they have a huge impact. but overall it was entertaining to watch footage of places i drive by every day.

  • the thing u didnt talk about is the skatepark! i mean we need a new park ours is total shit!

  • only the mexicans live in the shity houses i live in the hills and its the shit especially when you can have parties every other day and have 5 big ass houses only move here if u can afford it otherwise you will be with the mexicans

  • napa is really boring 4 teenagers old people dont have any consideration 4 us!!

    DONT LIVE HERE!!

  • lol. that's SO true

  • lol its like london

  • Nice video. I like that it's balanced, showing pros and cons of the town.

  • Good video...but off point...we are being overrun by the hispanic population. They don't take jobs no-one is willing to do...they simply take jobs....they work for less...but you get what you pay for I guess. Just open your eyes..look around...

  • Napa really is great! i just wish there were more things to do...you know? I <3 NAPA!!!!

  • whats great about it? The roads that are worse than whats found in third world countries? The flaky people?

  • ya,and as a teenager their is just about nothing for us to do considering we can't drive and really the movies can get kind of boring.and well, the skate park kinda scares me. But great video! maybe a video on what teenager can do in the town of napa.

  • I probably will do a video about that because it seems to be something that's talked about a lot. Napa's become too wine and food oriented.

  • @xoxo2121xoxo21 haha why does the skatepark scare you

  • exactly to the point....thank you for showing the real deal....

  • Hey Seth! Great video! Keep it up. :)

  • And another thing . That's exactly why I moved to the East bay .

    : P

  • Thank you so much for doing this man . Bravo . You summed up what I've thought about the hometown for a long time .

  • GREAT video. I am a native who just moved back after a 2 year hiatus in Chico, and am highly tempted to do something similar showcasing the lack of nightlife.

  • Great video! I grew up in Napa and completely agree with you and everyone about Napa's lack of involvement with kids. Although Napa did build and later enhance a place for kids, the skatepark. Even though it was built on top of a sewer plant and the police treat everyone like criminals. The only advice I've got for Napa is: respect your youth. Some of those punk kids downtown later grow up to open successful business and if they are treated like I was... we open shop in Sonoma.

  • Great job! Thank you for making this documentary. I agree with PDybedal....Not enough things for kids to do in this town. I have a teen and adolescent and I worry about keeping them involved in enough positive activities and out of trouble. I would LOVE to see you do a documentary on kids and teens in Napa!

  • I just might do that. I'm coming up with quite a few more ideas for stories.

  • Wow, you did a good job with this. It should be on television. I would not even know how to make a documentary.

  • Thank you. :)

  • Hey man, ya know I live in Napa and I used to hate it here. Small town, Everythings expensive, and if your under the age of 21 theirs really nothing to do. But after watching your video I see Napa in a different way, in a good way. This video definitely shined some light on Napa, Great video man, 5 stars

  • Well Made....I was born and raised in Napa; moving away after 31 years to raise my family elsewhere. The problem with Napa is that the City Fathers seem to hate kids. There is NOTHING for them to do except get into trouble.

  • And we are reading more and more stories about robberies, thefts, home invasions and brazen acts of violence. It's as if someone posted a billboard at the "Welcome to Napa" sign saying, "We're easy pickings, you won't get caught", because the perps seem to be from other towns and hardly get caught.

  • Good job. Nothing on the video that isn't true. Tourists please stay away!

  • You know what they say, "When life gives you lemons make lemonade!" So, I'd say this is a pretty sweet glass.

I read about you in the NVR. I think it's a very honest assessment. For nightlife, well, ya just gotta go to Sonoma County, that other great wine growing region.

I lived there for 15 yrs--Moving here, I was shocked at the lack of businesses that cater to the locals for just basic things, like--clothes! But hey, there's some really good restaurants and oh yeah, wine!

    Good luck to you!

  • You did a very nice job with this video. I, too, agree with your views relative to high rent for shop owners and the dilemma that creates for the downtown and the economy. The one part I would have like to see more of, would have been our roads -- the worst in the bay area-- sort of takes away from the so-called glamour. Napa is a very conflicted city. As for you, I understand panic disorder and think you are doing very well -- as a citizen of Napa i am proud of you.

  • I actually am thinking about doing a video devoted to that subject. The problem is that YouTube limits the length of videos to 10 minutes. This video was meant to be a broad representation of Napa, paving the way for future videos that focus on specific topics. And I know that our deteriorating roads are on a lot of people's minds.

  • Nicely done.

  • Great job!! I read about your video on NVR! I'm happy to see that you've overcome your obstable to make such informative video.

Keep up the good work!! L

  • Great Video....Napa is a town caught between the elite out of towners and the rest of us who call this place home! It's a great place to live and a great place to visit! Thanks for a good honest look at our town...I agree with your thoughts completely about Napa!

  • Good job very informative. "is that bill gates" lol. You should definently get a job on TV! Looks like your doing very well now, thats great!

  • Yeah, Bill Gates is known to fly into Napa in his private jet and I thought throwing that in there for humor would be funny.

In my videos I appear okay. I only shot on days where I was feeling good enough to do it. But honestly, shooting all the video was a huge challenge for me, even when I was feeling good enough. I am doing better, but still struggle daily. I believe my anxiety condition has nudged me in the direction of video and I am very happy about that. I hope to make a difference.

  • Awesome video! WOW! You did very well! Now I know a little bit more about your home town :)

  • You do now! :) Thanks. :)

  • Spot on. I live here and it's not what it seems for a musician.

  • Well done... That is an honest take on our little town or as some say, not so little.
