stopndropnpopx- Exactly, you're a steelers fan. Stupid ignorant always talking trash typical steelers fan. Ohhhh, by the way, great win against the broncos. Ohhh, that's right, you lost:(.
@stopndropnpopx you're also a fuckin' idiot. Was the defensive lineman going to score? No. Did Reed score? Yes. Did Reed taking the ball have a direct and immediate result on his team winning the football game? Yes. Go be jelly of our safety being better than yours somewhere else.
My friends went to this game and they told me that the emotions made a complete 180 it was loud and electric and Reed's touchdown changed all of that.
@prod1gy3000 Wow Miami played 1 more road game....what exactly does NFL talent have to do with a college team? plenty of guys are nasty in college but don't have the same kind of career in the league so thats kinda irrelavent
This is selfish? WTF he basically sealed the game with it team sport ppl. Walters would have been brought down early and then u never know... Canes offense could have turned it over etc. Game sealing move. if this play won the nat championship game no fool would be saying shit. Period.
I wonder just how many "coaches" would be mad at Reed for what he did. Seriously. The guy wanted to win. There were less than 20 sec in the game when Walters got the INT - Reed's cold blooded assassin instincts took over to want to seal it, so he yelled at Walters to give him the ball so he could. If I did punish Reed like others said they would have, I would've made him sit out 6 plays in the hot practice down at Greentree & let the 2nd team guy get some reps - for the 6 points he got me.
@CaneTenacity I think it was dumb if 20 seconds left take a knee, and what if reed fumbled it on the exchange and bc recovered. plus tuck it away when running to the end zone
@MrFootballstud20 - can you really process all that information within seconds while you're out there on the field, trying to win the game, with insane amounts of adrenaline rushing through your body, with the instincts that someone like Ed Reed has? Pretty easy to sit back now and critique it - kind of funny as well, seeing how this play will always be a very well remembered highlight for the Canes. I think Ed Reed did just fine then and has done pretty well since then
@MrFootballstud20 Yeah he could have tried, but to no avail, Ed reed was getting in that endzone regardless because he was hungry for that championship..
My apologizes as well, it wasn't William Green that almost caught Reed - it was Derrick Knight. I forgot Green didn't play & remembering that if he did, the Canes would've most likely lost the way they were playing. Todd Sievers saved Miami that day - and then so did Reed. BCs Defense played their asses off that day - Miami's offense didn't score a TD for the first time in 53 games & they picked off Dorsey 4 times. Portis did run for 178 yards, but no TDs. Andre Johnson only had 2 catches
BC had 1st and Goal from the 9 with under 2 mins. remaining in the game. Canes were winning 12-7, but hadn't scored a TD ALL DAY LONG. The undefeated season was on the line, the 25 game win streak was on the line, a trip to the NChampionship would've been a hell of a lot harder if the Canes would've lost this. I guess some people missed the cameras showing Reed coming up to Walters on the sidelines after the play, hugging him, hi-5 ing him, hugging him more & Walters doing the same in return.
How in the fuck is what Reed did a selfish move? I guarantee you that Matt Walters would even agree that what Reed did was smart - do you think Walters could've run it back 90 yards for the game winning/undefeated NChamp season saving TD? Reed almost got caught by William Green at the end - Walters was struggling to get 8 yards with the ball. The Canes were having trouble moving the ball during the game - for them to go 90 yards would've been a hell of a lot harder than what Reed did
that was for the win. also it was to get into the rose bowl, listen to what the anouncer says and then you'll know that what he did wasnt totally selfish. also understand that if it didnt work the coach woulda had his ass for that, lol
Idk what the situation was right here, but it better have been in the 4th quarter and they better have needed a TD to win, because Ed Reed, as good a safety as the best, definitely pulled a selfish move there. I dont like that at all.
@gaagha321 but! it did get them a TouchDown to secure the win i dont like the selfish move he pulled there but it got them the score so there is not much any 1 can say ha ha LOL i might try that 1 year
@FreshTaper1994 I applaud the efforts and talent it took to do that, but I dont applaud the audacity. Obviously Ed Reed has matured since this, but if I were a coach and one of my players had decided to do this, no matter what the outcome, I would have made some sort of punishment for this.
@gaagha321 yea that does make since he's obviously super intense he loves winning so much that he did what he had to do to win and he really has matured since then he aint the same as he used to be
As a Ravens I love Ed,but that D-Lineman probably was devistated for a while because he might have thought he got stripped by BC.All I'm saying is,is that that was really selfish of him,but atleast he scored.
@MicDizzle2 - Selfish my ass. That was for the win! It was the smart thing to do as that lineman would not have made it to the zone! Sometimes you just gotta take charge and make a play.
Ahh, back when the Hurricanes were the force of college football, even as a BC fan, heartbroken and all from that interception and TD return, I must say that Ed Reed is an absolute beast, part of an insanely talented team! I wish today's 'Canes were like that again, the ACC needs a strong national power to boost its football credibility.
I also watched that game, BC was about to derail their run to the title, it seem like after that game, everybody became victims. That was one of the best plays i've ever seen, and i'm a VOL fan.
i miss those canes man look ed reed cud have jus let matt walter get tackled sand then dorsey take a knee miami wins end of story but no reed takes the ball and scores see you 2001 canes wernt about wining they wer about dominated plin and simple ed reeds speach during halftime we actually wer winning tht came but we wernt dominated and we did at the end of the game.... the question wasnt about if the 2001 canes wer gonna win the game it was how much will the canes win by GO CANES!!!!!
Could you imagine Sean Taylor and Ed Reed in the same defensive backfield in the NFL. It's too bad about ST he was my favorite player on my favorite team. Ed Reed is a bad man too though. RIP Sean.
yea i mean could u imagin that TEAM in the NFL now? ed reed sean taylor vince wilfork jonathan vilma, clinton portin willis mcgehee jeremy shockey kellen winslow andre johnson dj williams, najeh davenport frank gore, bryant mckinnie phil buchanon jerome mcdougal and MANY MORE!!! thats unbelievable!
Haha yeah and Tom Brady AIN'T fast either and look at him..so speed isn't that big of a impact on the game of football. He still runs a 4.57 40 yard dash so thats not all that slow. Ed Reed is still the best safety/play maker in the NFL and a future Hall of Famer.
Naw man.those 2001 Canes were good. Look at all the nfl players that came from that team.Clinton Portis,Andre Johnson,Antrel Rolle,Ed Reed,Sean Taylor(RIP),Philip Buchanan,Rocky Mccintosh,Jonathan Vilma,Vernon Carey,Bryant McKinnie,Kellen Winslow,Roscoe Parrish,Kevin Everett,Shockey,William Joseph,Jerome McDougle,DJ Williams,Mike Rumph,Ken Dorsey,Najeh Davenport,and remember Willis Mcgahee. Nobody could touch that team.

I think you pretty much said it all. That team was so good people were saying they could've beaten multiple NFL teams at the time. They were DISGUSTING.
the 01 canes were great but there is no way any college team could beat a nfl team becaue you can be great in college and not even be able to make an nfl team. and there is 117 d1 ncaa schools and only 32 nfl teams
that may be Generally true but i'm not talking about generally, the 01 Canes would not lose to the 08 lions, rams or raiders, just look at the roster of the 01 Canes, we're not talkin a roster full of busts here we're talkin a roster that has backups that didn't just make it to the nfl but they made it to the pro bowl, i'm not sayin the 01 Canes would win the super bowl or beat the steelers, patriots or colts but they could definitely smash the lions, rams n raiders just look at the roster
Miami played more ranked opponents but they only beat 1 team ranked in the top 10, while Nebraska beat 4 teams ranked in the top 10. Of the 5 ranked teams that Miamia played that year, three were ranked 14th and one was ranked 12th. It doesn't matter so much how many players were drafted in the nfl, as it is all about how a team plays together, not how many stars are on it.
well they murdered nebraska in the rose bowl so shut up if we played those ranked tems we would have spanked them miami in 2001 was the best college team in football in a long long time
lol at greatest of all time. They should have lost that game and could have lost against Virginia Tech. the 1995 huskers are hands down the best of all time. They played a tougher schedule than Miami, and they didn't struggle in a single game.
please name a team that was even worth mentioning that year they won huh?? they had a crap schudele and we shoulda and coulda lost alot of games but we didnt so dats all that matters and we smashed eric crouches fuure in the rose bowl
2001 Miami Hurricanes are the Greatest College Football Team of All-Time. And before you hillbillies get your overalls in a bunch; Miami played more ranked opponents, beat those ranked opponents by a wider margin, had more All-Americans, demolished the team that fielded the Heisman Trophy winner and the Big 12's leading rusher, set the NCAA record for points over ranked Opp and had more first-rounders than '95 NU had drafted TOTAL in the '96 Draft!
"Shouldnt have beat BC or VT"? Are you retarded? Even if Ed Reed doesnt run this Int back Miami STILL WINS. VT had to score two late touchdowns and block two punts to lose by 2. So get your facts straight before you start spewing crap on the comment board. Also, '71 Huskers? What the hell do you know about what took place in 1971? You werent even alive. Also, AMERICA voted '01 UM to be the ONLY team to beat '04 USC and that list included '71 and '95 NU.
5. Tom Osborne - 255-49-3, never lost more than 3 games in a season, never won less than 9 games in a season. Coach on 5 National Championship teams, Head Coach on 3. Didn't get fired.
Larry Coker - 60-15, 1 National Championship as a Head Coach. Fired.
Miami in short put up 33 NFL draft picks off of the 01 Miami Roster. With an incredible number of 1st round picks. In perspective, this edge goes to Miami but not by much.
3. Nebraska defeated four teams in the top 10 at the time they played as well as finished in the top 10, by an average of 49-18. Average Final rank of these 4 teams was 5.75.
The only top 10 team Miami played was the #4 Nebraska team in the national championship. In all Miami only played one more ranked team. Average score 47-14. Nebraska finished the season ranked 8th.
that was ESPN and it was the 1971 huskers squad that came in 1st not the 95 team which was 3rd. not to mention the fact that they listed the 2001 canes 5th.
you didn't say it was a "Greatest Football Team list" what you said was and i quote "Sports Illustred #1 team of all time, 95 Nebraska. 01 Miami Didn't make the list." overlooking the fact that you misspelled illustrated it seems that it would be hard for Miami or any team other than the huskers to make a "list" which you refer to as the greatest team (singular) of all time. If such a list was in existance and contained more than just the "#1 team of all time" the 01 canes would have to be on it
1. 95 Nebraska destroyed a Florida team that was supposed to be everything Miami was. Too fast on defense, too deep. 62-24. Florida went on to win the National championship the next year. 01 Miami beat the one man show that was Eric Crouch 34-17. That is the same Nebraska team that got drilled by Colorado to end the regular season, 62-36. The Nebraska team that without Crouch, went 7-7 the following year.
But I'm done go ahead and believe 01 Miami would win and I will believe 95 NU would win. It would never end because obviously you were to young to remember watching the 95 Huskers because you give them no credit at all, its just laughable but cya later Randy Shannon.
4. Had more players drafted in the 1st Round ALONE than '95 NU had drafted in the '96 Draft TOTAL.
What does it matter where they were drafted? I mean does that automatically give them a free pass to win every game handily? Ask BC how many draft picks they had in 01 compared to Miami they sure didn't give a shit and 01 BC is no 95 NU.
1. '01 Miami had TWICE as many All-Americans as '95 NU.
All Americans are good but they don't always win you national titles. I mean this year LSU had 2 All Americans and they still won the national title? Does that mean they aren't the national champs or not any good because they had less All Americans than USC?
Ok now if we look at the Top 4 teams you played and the Top 4 Nebraska played. Miami 3 Top 15 1 Top 20 Nebraska 37-14 Syracuse 59-0 FSU 49-27 VTech 26-24 outscored them 171-65 Nebraska All top 10 teams Florida 62-24 Colorado 44-21 KSt 49-25 Kansas 41-3 outscored them 196-73 So Nebraska scored more points against their top more opponents +25, and Miami held their opponents to 8 less points than Nebraska
hey buddy i could care less where they were when you played them. Where did they FINISH! that is what matters. If you played syracuse and they were ranked 14th at the time, and they lost out it is still that good of a win? HELL NO! Get your facts straight most logical people use final rankings which is what I did thank you very much. You can't tell me you believe NU was the #2 team in the nation can you? Not even close they were 8th, you beat the 8th ranked Huskers based on FINAL RANKINGS!
What you just said makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE. Hahaha! I can sense your frustration. It must suck when you know youre wrong huh? The reason why it makes more sense to gauge a team by the rank that they are when they play you instead of their final rank is because the outcome of YOUR game against them directly determines where they finish at. As a matter of fact thats even how the BCS formula gauges SOC. By rank at the time of game. You obviously know nothing and now are just spinning your wheels.
"If you played Syracuse and they were ranked 14th at the time, and they lost out it is still that good of a win?" "CubsNskers"
Do you proof read this crap before you post it? LMFAO! You some absolutely ridiculous. If you beat Syracuse when they were considered 14th Best, then you beat the 14th best team, not whatever rank they fall to after you beat them. That would make winning a catch-22. Just beating a team would then hurt your strength of schedule. HAHA Guy! You make no sense!
No I don't proof read because its not a damn english paper. Do you proofread? Did you mean to say that I sound absolutely ridiculous?
"If you beat Syracuse when they were considered 14th best, then you beat the 14th best team."
So if someone is ranked 14th to start the season, you beat them and they went 0-12, you still think that they are 14th best in the nation, thats laughable buddy.
Yeah, I'd say you beat the 14th ranked team if they were ranked 14 and the time of game.
The College football world isnt on your side. Like I said, Even the BCS Computes SOC by rank at time of game.
Just face it, YOU'RE WRONG. Go get your facts straight and comment back when you have a clue what you're talking about. Like I said. 6 very clear reasons. Husker fans havent listed 1 VALID reason. '01 UM > '95 NU
When I post, I present FACTS to back up my opinions. When you husker fans post all you say is: "Miami didnt beat BC and Vt bad enough." So how does this make NU the GOAT again? I gave you 6 very clear reasons why '01 Miami is better than '95 NU. None of you have given me 1 to prove otherwise.
why don't you look at the offensive line from 95 to 01 Huskers. Our 95 line was one of the best offensive lines i've seen in my life Probably the best. If any husker fans were saying that to you in 01 they were stupid to believe that. We just watched Colorado shut it down that year. I knew Miami would beat our 01 team our 95 team was head and shoulders above the 01 team. Miami was lucky to go undefeated that year squeaking out wins against BC and VTECH. Nebraska games never in doubt.
You keep saying that like if you say it enough its gonna make it true. Miami beat BC by 11 and VT had to put forth a comeback effort to lose by 2 to a Miami team looking ahead to the NC.
Nebraska only played TWO opponents in '95. I give them 3rd on my GOAT List. But this is something that is solely based on Opinion. But heres a few facts: Over the last 35 Years: Miami 31 NU 30, Miami 23 NU 3, Miami 22 NU 0, Miami 17 NU 24, Miami 37 NU 14. Enough Said. UM>NU
what do your previous scores against Nebraska have anything to do with 95 NU vs 01 Miami? I mean that makes absolutely no sense. Missouri didn't beat Nebraska for 36 years but they managed to overcome that. I haven't read the entire comments, so tell me again your 6 clear reasons as to why Miami would win.
Oh Im Sorry. Was that too much truth for you? Ha! How does that not make sense? Oh I get it. You dont want to hear about how Miami has dominated your program for 35 yrs.
Whats really irrelevant is what you just said. Missouri? WTF? Go and read the reasons. There right there on page two. Then please, be the FIRST Husker fan to present a VALID reason as to why NU's better. Also, do me a favor; hit the reply button.
I did hit the reply DICK, its not my fault that youtube didn't do it right. But anyways 1 thing you said is Reed didn't have to run that back? If they don't get the interception and BC scores GAME OVER. That was luck but you seem to think there was no luck involved in that.
Who the hell are you to say that BC would've scored? If Walters doesnt intercept that pass, If Reed doesnt score, If BC scores.... Thats a whole lot of "ifs". Explain to me HOW that was luck. Reed Broke 3 tackles on his way to a 91 yard TD run back. Are you saying that all deflected pass interceptions are "luck"? You have no clue what youre talking about.
I'm saying it was luck that the pass was tipped and the Miami DL turns around and the ball lands in his lap like a free gift. If that isn't lucky I don't know what is... BC has a hell of a better chance scoring than that interception happening 9 out of 10 times. For the ball to ricochet from the WR into a Dlineman's hands who is turning around, get real buddy. That is like saying Nebraska's win against Missouri in 97 wasn't lucky on the kicked ball play, GET REAL! That play was in deed lucky.
Nebraska never had a game in question the entire year, most dominant team to ever take the field. We will never know if 95 Nebraska would win or 01 Miami would win, but my opinion would be Nebraska wins by 14. No one could stop that option and Miami would be in the same group of not being able to stop the option. Many thought that we couldn't stop Floridas fun n gun and that Florida's defense was going to be fast enough to stop our option but look how that turned out... HA
Hmmm. Sounds eerily familiar to what NU fans said in '01. Look at what happened! Big12 Leading Rusher (D.Diedrick), Heisman Trophy winner ( E. Crouch) Forced to eat grass all night. '01 Miami LB Corps too fast for Frazier and Philips. Miami Front Four lives in NU's backfield burying Frazier and Green play after play. Dorsey stands in the pocket behind one of the Greatest O-Lines ever and doesn't even get his uniform dirty. Miami wins by 17. Easy!
Also, Nebraska played two very OVERRATED teams in K.State and Kansas. So I only give them 2 real games that entire season. 2001 Miami Hurricanes: Greatest CFB Team of All-Time.
Here's another thing, Miami got shit lucky to beat an unranked Boston College team. 1995 Nebraska didn't get lucky against anyone.... they KILLED everybody they played. Both teams were talented. I'm Husker fan I say '95 Nebraska was better. You are Canes fan, you say '01 Canes were better. It's a fun debate. Just don't confuse facts with your personal opinion. I honestly doubt you've seen the '95 Huskers play more than 1 or 2 games. Just my opinion.
Miami got lucky? How is a deflected pass, int and a 91 yard run back "lucky"? Secondly, If Reed doesnt run that back. UM still Wins.
Confusing fact with opinion? ITS A FACT that UM had more ALL-AMERICANS. ITS A FACT than UM played more ranked Opp. ITS A FACT that UM set the NCAA record. ITS A FACT that UM beat their Ranked opps. by a wider margin. ITS A FACT that UM had more players drafted in the 1st round than '95 had total in '96. Opinion? Where?
Another point, Miami did play one more ranked team than '95 Nebraska and played only 1 top 10 team ('01 Nebraska). '95 Nebraska beat 4 ranked teams all for of them in the were in the Top 10. Another point where you facts get confused, nowhere during their season did the 2001 Miami team face ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE to an "option" team like the '95 Huskers. Don't say the 2001 Virginia Tech or Nebraska teams either because they would have gotten murdered by the '95 Huskers.
2001 Miami played 5 Top 15 Opponents. 6 teams that finished in the Top 25.
Miami CREAMED the same Nebraska team that before the CU game was being compared to '95 NU by everyone and their Grandmother. The Crouch and Diedrick combo was supposed to be the second Coming of Frazier and Phillips. Only now are NU Fans trying to downplay how good they considered their '01 team to be.
Its easy to shit on them now After Miami destroyed them. But at the time, no one was saying what you're saying now.
CDollar quit ripping on other peoples math skills when yours aren't exactly up to par. Example: Point #6 on reason why '01 Miami is the best ever... Miami outscored all opponents 512-117 which is a 395 point difference. '95 Nebraska beat all opponents 638-174 which makes for a 464 point diffence. '95 Nebraska had alot of underclassmen on it. Eventually the enitre defense except for Terrell Farley (who might have been the best player on the D) played in the NFL.
First of all, how in the hell do all these Nebraska Fans keep ending up on a video that has NOTHING to do with Nebraska Football? Did Jaddy2020 go get you because he found himself outgunned and outwitted? LMAO! Secondly, I meant to include "ALL RANKED OPP." Because No one cares that NU put up 49 on the "Pacific Tigers" (Who were so sorry, they dropped Football) and 77 on unranked ASU Or 73 on unranked Iowa State. So against ranked opponents UM avg. margin of victory- 32.8, NU-30.75.
Actually Genius, they didnt. Reed doesnt run that back, Miami still wins that game. 95 skers all the way? All the way to the 2nd GOAT spot. Right behind these Hurricanes!
Hey mastermind, the greatest team of all time shouldn't be in any position to lose to an unranked BC in the final minute of the game. Also V-Tech came a 2 point conversion away from tying the game late in the 4th quarter. 95 Skers dominated every team they played and beat every team they played against by at least 14. 95 SKERS GOAT, followed closely by the 71 SKERS.
Now youre 0-2. Thanks for proving that you know absolutely nothing. BC finished the season ranked #21 in the BCS Poll. Miami played 6 teams that finished in the Top 25. 5 of which where in the Top 15. And beat them by a combined score of 236-58.
71 Skers? You probably weren't even alive to witness that season. The entire Nation believes '01 UM is the GOAT. Voted the ONLY team that would beat '04 USC. So how could '95 NU be the GOAT if they couldn't beat '04 USC?
I don't know how you came up with 236-58... your math is off on that. You're really good at picking and choosing stats for your liking. Which 5 teams finished in the top 15? By my count I can only find 3. 95 Skers beat 4 teams that finished in the top 10 by a combined score of 196-73. That includes a national championship game against undefeated Florida, where we absolutely dominated them 62-24. That Florida team went on to win the NC the next year.
I see what you did... you chose to use the final BCS poll, which is before the bowl games are played. How about we stick to the AP and Coaches poll where bowl games count, after all an entire season does include bowl games.
Oops. My bad. I meant to say 236-72. LMAO. You feel better now?! #2 Miami 49 #14 FSU 27, #1 UM 59 #14 SU 0, #1 UM 65 #12 UW 7, #1 UM 26 #14 VT 24, #1 UM 37 # 2 NU 14. Go ahead and add them up. Miami: 236. Everyone else: 72.
Also, UM DEMOLISHED the same team (NU) that beat the defending National Champions (OU) 20-10.
When did the entire nation vote that '01 UM would beat '04 USC? It couldn't have been the ESPN online tournament where fans voted on the greatest teams of all time. 95 Skers vs. 71 Skers in the finals there with the 95 Skers winning it.
"When did the entire nation vote that '01 UM would beat '04 USC?"- Jaddy2020
*Sigh*
Another uninformed Husker fan. in '05, right before USC played Texas for the NC. America voted that ONLY '01 MIami could defeat '04 USC. {Keyword: ONLY} So like I said, if '95 NU can't beat USC, then THEY CAN'T BE THE GOAT!
You keep mentioning '71 NU. You father was probably in middle school when that season took place. So what the hell do you know about that?
'01 UM was probably the most talented team of all-time in terms of NFL talent, but the '95 Skers was the best team of all time. That group of Juniors and Seniors went to 3 straight national championship games, narrowly losing the first and winning the second two. Tommie Frazier was named the NC mvp 3 years in a row despite losing the first one, making him the best college football player to never win a Heisman.
Miami BY FAR was the most talented team EVER in terms of NFL talent. But they also were the GOAT Period.
As a matter of fact, if Miami doesnt get snubbed in 2000 (Because the BCS didnt incorporate Head to Head Match-ups) Then Miami plays in THREE straight BCS title games instead of TWO.

Nebraska? Only 4 road games and hardly any NFL level talent. Far from the best ever. They can keep the largest margin of victory.

CaneTenacity 1 year ago
@CaneTenacity I think it was dumb if 20 seconds left take a knee, and what if reed fumbled it on the exchange and bc recovered. plus tuck it away when running to the end zone
MrFootballstud20 1 year ago
@MrFootballstud20 - can you really process all that information within seconds while you're out there on the field, trying to win the game, with insane amounts of adrenaline rushing through your body, with the instincts that someone like Ed Reed has? Pretty easy to sit back now and critique it - kind of funny as well, seeing how this play will always be a very well remembered highlight for the Canes. I think Ed Reed did just fine then and has done pretty well since then
CaneTenacity 1 year ago
@CaneTenacity no you cant think it all through in a split second. but it was def a risky move
MrFootballstud20 1 year ago
@MrFootballstud20 Ed reed dont have to tuck the ball he'll score anyways.. You see he still got in the endzone.
marion24barberownz 1 year ago
@marion24barberownz yes i can see he scored but there was a guy right there close and could of tried to hit the ball out
MrFootballstud20 1 year ago

CaneTenacity 1 year ago
BC had 1st and Goal from the 9 with under 2 mins. remaining in the game. Canes were winning 12-7, but hadn't scored a TD ALL DAY LONG. The undefeated season was on the line, the 25 game win streak was on the line, a trip to the NChampionship would've been a hell of a lot harder if the Canes would've lost this. I guess some people missed the cameras showing Reed coming up to Walters on the sidelines after the play, hugging him, hi-5 ing him, hugging him more & Walters doing the same in return.
CaneTenacity 1 year ago
How in the fuck is what Reed did a selfish move? I guarantee you that Matt Walters would even agree that what Reed did was smart - do you think Walters could've run it back 90 yards for the game winning/undefeated NChamp season saving TD? Reed almost got caught by William Green at the end - Walters was struggling to get 8 yards with the ball. The Canes were having trouble moving the ball during the game - for them to go 90 yards would've been a hell of a lot harder than what Reed did
CaneTenacity 1 year ago
He looked like he was stealing the ball from him. But he does that all the time
losangelescardinals 1 year ago
@losangelescardinals he really wanted to score if he didnt i think the coaches would b mad at him 4 stealing the ball out of his own players hand
FreshTaper1994 1 year ago
that was for the win. also it was to get into the rose bowl, listen to what the anouncer says and then you'll know that what he did wasnt totally selfish. also understand that if it didnt work the coach woulda had his ass for that, lol
TheArmada94 1 year ago
Idk what the situation was right here, but it better have been in the 4th quarter and they better have needed a TD to win, because Ed Reed, as good a safety as the best, definitely pulled a selfish move there. I dont like that at all.
gaagha321 1 year ago
@gaagha321 but! it did get them a TouchDown to secure the win i dont like the selfish move he pulled there but it got them the score so there is not much any 1 can say ha ha LOL i might try that 1 year
FreshTaper1994 1 year ago
@FreshTaper1994 I applaud the efforts and talent it took to do that, but I dont applaud the audacity. Obviously Ed Reed has matured since this, but if I were a coach and one of my players had decided to do this, no matter what the outcome, I would have made some sort of punishment for this.
gaagha321 1 year ago
@gaagha321 yea that does make since he's obviously super intense he loves winning so much that he did what he had to do to win and he really has matured since then he aint the same as he used to be
FreshTaper1994 1 year ago
As a Ravens I love Ed,but that D-Lineman probably was devistated for a while because he might have thought he got stripped by BC.All I'm saying is,is that that was really selfish of him,but atleast he scored.
MicDizzle2 1 year ago
@MicDizzle2 - Selfish my ass. That was for the win! It was the smart thing to do as that lineman would not have made it to the zone! Sometimes you just gotta take charge and make a play.

that may be Generally true but i'm not talking about generally, the 01 Canes would not lose to the 08 lions, rams or raiders, just look at the roster of the 01 Canes, we're not talkin a roster full of busts here we're talkin a roster that has backups that didn't just make it to the nfl but they made it to the pro bowl, i'm not sayin the 01 Canes would win the super bowl or beat the steelers, patriots or colts but they could definitely smash the lions, rams n raiders just look at the roster

2001 Miami Hurricanes = Greatest CFB Team of All-Time!
01CanesrdGOAT 3 years ago 7
2001 Miami Hurricanes are the Greatest College Football Team of All-Time. And before you hillbillies get your overalls in a bunch; Miami played more ranked opponents, beat those ranked opponents by a wider margin, had more All-Americans, demolished the team that fielded the Heisman Trophy winner and the Big 12's leading rusher, set the NCAA record for points over ranked Opp and had more first-rounders than '95 NU had drafted TOTAL in the '96 Draft!
'01 Canes > '95 Skers BY A LONG SHOT!!
01CanesrdGOAT 3 years ago 2
yeah the best team ever that shouldn't have beat BC or VT. 95 Huskers would roll this team. IM NOT A HUSKER FAN EITHER.
NU 71 better also. Nation has voted and your wrong.

You werent even alive. you didn't say it was a "Greatest Football Team list" what you said was and i quote "Sports Illustred #1 team of all time, 95 Nebraska.

CubsNSkers05 3 years ago
CubsNSkers05 3 years ago
2. Played More Ranked Opponents than '95 NU.

3. DESTROYED an Option Nebraska team like '95 NU.

CDollar101 3 years ago
hey buddy i could care less where they were when you played them.
CubsNSkers05 3 years ago
What you just said makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE. Hahaha! I can sense your frustration. It must suck when you know youre wrong huh? The reason why it makes more sense to gauge a team by the rank that they are when they play you instead of their final rank is because the outcome of YOUR game against them directly determines where they finish at. As a matter of fact thats even how the BCS formula gauges SOC. By rank at the time of game. You obviously know nothing and now are just spinning your wheels.
CDollar101 3 years ago
"If you played Syracuse and they were ranked 14th at the time, and they lost out it is still that good of a win?" "CubsNskers"
Do you proof read this crap before you post it? LMFAO! You some absolutely ridiculous. If you beat Syracuse when they were considered 14th Best, then you beat the 14th best team, not whatever rank they fall to after you beat them. That would make winning a catch-22. Just beating a team would then hurt your strength of schedule. HAHA Guy! You make no sense!
CDollar101 3 years ago
"You some absolutely ridiculous"
No I don't proof read because its not a damn english paper. Do you proofread? Did you mean to say that I sound absolutely ridiculous?
"If you beat Syracuse when they were considered 14th best, then you beat the 14th best team."
So if someone is ranked 14th to start the season, you beat them and they went 0-12, you still think that they are 14th best in the nation, thats laughable buddy.
CubsNSkers05 3 years ago
Yeah, I'd say you beat the 14th ranked team if they were ranked 14 and the time of game.
The College football world isnt on your side. Like I said, Even the BCS Computes SOC by rank at time of game.
Just face it, YOU'RE WRONG. Go get your facts straight and comment back when you have a clue what you're talking about. Like I said. 6 very clear reasons. Husker fans havent listed 1 VALID reason. '01 UM > '95 NU
CDollar101 3 years ago
When I post, I present FACTS to back up my opinions. When you husker fans post all you say is: "Miami didnt beat BC and Vt bad enough." So how does this make NU the GOAT again? I gave you 6 very clear reasons why '01 Miami is better than '95 NU. None of you have given me 1 to prove otherwise.
CDollar101 3 years ago
why don't you look at the offensive line from 95 to 01 Huskers.
CubsNSkers05 3 years ago
You keep saying that like if you say it enough its gonna make it true. Miami beat BC by 11 and VT had to put forth a comeback effort to lose by 2 to a Miami team looking ahead to the NC.
Nebraska only played TWO opponents in '95. I give them 3rd on my GOAT List. But this is something that is solely based on Opinion. But heres a few facts: Over the last 35 Years: Miami 31 NU 30, Miami 23 NU 3, Miami 22 NU 0, Miami 17 NU 24, Miami 37 NU 14. Enough Said. UM>NU
CDollar101 3 years ago
what do your previous scores against Nebraska have anything to do with 95 NU vs 01 Miami? I mean that makes absolutely no sense. Missouri didn't beat Nebraska for 36 years but they managed to overcome that. I haven't read the entire comments, so tell me again your 6 clear reasons as to why Miami would win.
CubsNSkers05 3 years ago
Oh Im Sorry. Was that too much truth for you? Ha! How does that not make sense? Oh I get it. You dont want to hear about how Miami has dominated your program for 35 yrs.
Whats really irrelevant is what you just said. Missouri? WTF? Go and read the reasons. There right there on page two. Then please, be the FIRST Husker fan to present a VALID reason as to why NU's better. Also, do me a favor; hit the reply button.
CDollar101 3 years ago
I did hit the reply DICK, its not my fault that youtube didn't do it right. But anyways 1 thing you said is Reed didn't have to run that back? If they don't get the interception and BC scores GAME OVER. That was luck but you seem to think there was no luck involved in that.
CubsNSkers05 3 years ago
Who the hell are you to say that BC would've scored? If Walters doesnt intercept that pass, If Reed doesnt score, If BC scores.... Thats a whole lot of "ifs". Explain to me HOW that was luck. Reed Broke 3 tackles on his way to a 91 yard TD run back. Are you saying that all deflected pass interceptions are "luck"? You have no clue what youre talking about.
CDollar101 3 years ago
I'm saying it was luck that the pass was tipped and the Miami DL turns around and the ball lands in his lap like a free gift. If that isn't lucky I don't know what is... BC has a hell of a better chance scoring than that interception happening 9 out of 10 times. For the ball to ricochet from the WR into a Dlineman's hands who is turning around, get real buddy. That is like saying Nebraska's win against Missouri in 97 wasn't lucky on the kicked ball play, GET REAL! That play was in deed lucky.

Lands in his lap? LOOK UP BUDDY. The pass was deflected and caught by an upright Walters. Your imagination is hilarious.

HA

"No one could stop that option "-CubsNSkers05
Easy!
CDollar101 3 years ago
Also, Nebraska played two very OVERRATED teams in K.State and Kansas. So I only give them 2 real games that entire season. 2001 Miami Hurricanes: Greatest CFB Team of All-Time.
CDollar101 3 years ago
Here's another thing, Miami got shit lucky to beat an unranked Boston College team. 1995 Nebraska didn't get lucky against anyone.... they KILLED everybody they played. Both teams were talented. I'm Husker fan I say '95 Nebraska was better. You are Canes fan, you say '01 Canes were better. It's a fun debate. Just don't confuse facts with your personal opinion. I honestly doubt you've seen the '95 Huskers play more than 1 or 2 games. Just my opinion.
Blackshirt30 3 years ago
Miami got lucky? How is a deflected pass, int and a 91 yard run back "lucky"? Secondly, If Reed doesnt run that back. UM still Wins.
Confusing fact with opinion? ITS A FACT that UM had more ALL-AMERICANS. ITS A FACT than UM played more ranked Opp. ITS A FACT that UM set the NCAA record. ITS A FACT that UM beat their Ranked opps. by a wider margin. ITS A FACT that UM had more players drafted in the 1st round than '95 had total in '96. Opinion? Where?
You present no facts, Only biased Opinion.
CDollar101 3 years ago
Another point, Miami did play one more ranked team than '95 Nebraska and played only 1 top 10 team ('01 Nebraska). '95 Nebraska beat 4 ranked teams all for of them in the were in the Top 10. Another point where you facts get confused, nowhere during their season did the 2001 Miami team face ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE to an "option" team like the '95 Huskers. Don't say the 2001 Virginia Tech or Nebraska teams either because they would have gotten murdered by the '95 Huskers.
Blackshirt30 3 years ago
2001 Miami played 5 Top 15 Opponents. 6 teams that finished in the Top 25.
Miami CREAMED the same Nebraska team that before the CU game was being compared to '95 NU by everyone and their Grandmother. The Crouch and Diedrick combo was supposed to be the second Coming of Frazier and Phillips. Only now are NU Fans trying to downplay how good they considered their '01 team to be.
Its easy to shit on them now After Miami destroyed them. But at the time, no one was saying what you're saying now.
CDollar101 3 years ago
CDollar quit ripping on other peoples math skills when yours aren't exactly up to par. Example: Point #6 on reason why '01 Miami is the best ever... Miami outscored all opponents 512-117 which is a 395 point difference. '95 Nebraska beat all opponents 638-174 which makes for a 464 point diffence. '95 Nebraska had alot of underclassmen on it. Eventually the enitre defense except for Terrell Farley (who might have been the best player on the D) played in the NFL.
Blackshirt30 3 years ago
CDollar101 3 years ago
1. '01 Miami had TWICE as many All-Americans as '95 NU.
2. Played More Ranked Opponents than '95 NU.
3. DESTROYED an Option Nebraska team like '95 NU.
4. Had more players drafted in the 1st Round ALONE than '95 NU had drafted in the '96 Draft TOTAL.
5. Set the NCAA Record for pt spread over Cons. Rnk Opp.
6. Beat All Opp. by a wider margin that '95 NU
C'mon Guy, the truth is right here in black and white: MIAMI WAS JUST BETTER!

Way to go Ed Reed. 2001 Miami Hurricanes: Greatest College Football Team of All-Time!
CDollar101 3 years ago
greatest college team of all-time shouldn't need a miracle pick 6... 95 Skers all the way.
Jaddy2020 3 years ago
Actually Genius, they didnt. Reed doesnt run that back, Miami still wins that game. 95 skers all the way? All the way to the 2nd GOAT spot. Right behind these Hurricanes!
CDollar101 3 years ago
Hey mastermind, the greatest team of all time shouldn't be in any position to lose to an unranked BC in the final minute of the game. Also V-Tech came a 2 point conversion away from tying the game late in the 4th quarter. 95 Skers dominated every team they played and beat every team they played against by at least 14. 95 SKERS GOAT, followed closely by the 71 SKERS.
Jaddy2020 3 years ago
Now youre 0-2. Thanks for proving that you know absolutely nothing. BC finished the season ranked #21 in the BCS Poll. Miami played 6 teams that finished in the Top 25. 5 of which where in the Top 15. And beat them by a combined score of 236-58.
71 Skers? You probably weren't even alive to witness that season. The entire Nation believes '01 UM is the GOAT. Voted the ONLY team that would beat '04 USC. So how could '95 NU be the GOAT if they couldn't beat '04 USC?
'01 UM > '95 NU.
CDollar101 3 years ago
I don't know how you came up with 236-58... your math is off on that. You're really good at picking and choosing stats for your liking. Which 5 teams finished in the top 15? By my count I can only find 3. 95 Skers beat 4 teams that finished in the top 10 by a combined score of 196-73. That includes a national championship game against undefeated Florida, where we absolutely dominated them 62-24. That Florida team went on to win the NC the next year.
Jaddy2020 3 years ago
I see what you did... you chose to use the final BCS poll, which is before the bowl games are played. How about we stick to the AP and Coaches poll where bowl games count, after all an entire season does include bowl games.
Jaddy2020 3 years ago
Oops.
CDollar101 3 years ago
When did the entire nation vote that '01 UM would beat '04 USC? It couldn't have been the ESPN online tournament where fans voted on the greatest teams of all time. 95 Skers vs. 71 Skers in the finals there with the 95 Skers winning it.
Jaddy2020 3 years ago
"When did the entire nation vote that '01 UM would beat '04 USC?"- Jaddy2020
*Sigh*
Another uninformed Husker fan. in '05, right before USC played Texas for the NC. America voted that ONLY '01 MIami could defeat '04 USC. {Keyword: ONLY} So like I said, if '95 NU can't beat USC, then THEY CAN'T BE THE GOAT!
You keep mentioning '71 NU. You father was probably in middle school when that season took place. So what the hell do you know about that?
CDollar101 3 years ago
'01 UM was probably the most talented team of all-time in terms of NFL talent, but the '95 Skers was the best team of all time. That group of Juniors and Seniors went to 3 straight national championship games, narrowly losing the first and winning the second two. Tommie Frazier was named the NC mvp 3 years in a row despite losing the first one, making him the best college football player to never win a Heisman.
Jaddy2020 3 years ago
Well, I agree with half of that statement.
