  • If i was in this crash, i would always take the S class

  • 0:59

  • cool ich hab was unanständiges entdeckt

  • najo miau wer will camen

  • смарту конец )))))))))

  • Wow, very impressive from the smart.

  • I guess the "dislikes" on this video came from the 50 people in America who bought these shitboxes?

  • @nyisless13 Americans hate this car

    trust me

  • @nyisless13 You obviously don't know what you're talking about. 99% of Americans hate smart cars.

  • The smart held up rather well against the S-Class. Now i want to see it up against a huge American truck like say...the Ford F-250.

  • @geterdonein01 The truck will probably slide over it.Here it happens all the time, small sedans are not large enough and high enough and slide under the truck and the passangers die.It also happens to large luxury sedans who have top safety rating over SUV.I think truck and SUV are safest when hitting another truck.

  • at 1:00 the smart car shitted on it's self

  • 2:10 : It doesn't look like, but this thing is 80 kg ;-)

  • Unfair:((...the Merc should be against something its own size...to see true safety....

  • They both Mercedes-Benzes because Smart is a Benz

  • I still prefer being inside the Benz

  • they should give me the car

  • Hat der da EVENTUELL verletzt gesagt!?

    Na ja :D

  • and people buy that. that is retarded. and the mileage isn't even that great

  • At 1:50 the dummy's like "Oooh my head"!

  • S-Klasse VS Rettungskapsel!! :D

  • the test actually went quite well for the smart, the driver area was not entered, and the doors still opened despite the flip..

just because most of your cant speak german and the smart flipped doesnt mean dont buy one

  • @vettedude418 XD the shockwave will enter the driver area and can cause damage to the driver also. ;)

  • the dude was saying "we crashed that beeyotch up real good" ... must have been some independent study because isn't Smart made by MB? I'm sure MB would not want to see their "S" destroying a "Smart."

  • smart car got owned

  • that s class whooped picachu's ass!!!

  • this guy looks like will farrel!

  • DAMN NAZIS!!!

  • @brandon9491 did ever sum1 notice what kind of an asshole u are ? go diein' sucker

  • @casemodder89 lol i was joking. take a chill pill bro

  • mercedes makes smart so this is an odd presentation

  • good thing the mercedes was not a hummer or big rig.

  • guess the crash test dummies in the s class will b attending the funeral of the crash test dummies in tge smart. RIP Crash test dummies in the smart.

  • 49 people was driving the smart and ran into an accident

  • Maybe next time they can do tank vs smart. Morons

  • Ohhh... I have a good idea

    The Mercedes is a flyswatter

The smart is a bumblebee (litierally!)

  • The best way to test a SMART in a real environment is by replacing the plastic dummies with actual dummies AKA Republicans or some nut job environmentalist from San Fran.

  • is this a German attempt at humor. And what's with the Freddy Mercury mustaches.

  • it looks like some one kicked a yellow turtle

  • does the dummies survive? are they all right??

  • what a stupid comparisson

  • @karavlaxos how is it a stupid comparison?? in the streets you got both s-classes and smart cars driving around, you think there isn't a chance that they might collide at one point??

  • @3n82 it's stupid because the crash results are obvious before it even happens. What's the point of it? To show that the smart is going to be wrecked while the s class isn't?

  • @karavlaxos lol I guess the point is to show how bad the smart is going to wreck.

  • im glad i have an sl 65 now

  • ITS OK GUYS....THE WINDSHIELD DIDNT BREAK THERE RLY EXPENSIVE

  • The S-Class was like "Get the f*** out of here, you little shit!"

  • ya know the damn car is too light when 4 people can roll it over by pushing it

  • that smartcar got fucking SMOKED!!! lol

  • i'd like to see that english prick in that car while it gets hit by a damn semi!

  • Smart cars make smart scars.

  • looks like the smart held its own.. but theres no way ide get in one much less own one...

  • now let's see what car will be more expensive to repair xD

  • @Mr0unnamed Smart maybe...XD

  • thats like ;

    TANK VS TOY

  • This reminds me of a bowling, or maybe a good round of golf.

  • Very precise mesuring at 1:39 with one hand placed in front of the force meter.

  • @pennernderpenner What a fucking dumbass xD

  • Was für eine präzise Messung bei 1:39 mit einer Hand vorm Kraftmesser.

  • @pennernderpenner haha ja das ist schon etwas dämlich von dem typ, is mir auch gleich aufgefallen xD

  • kinda funny that they car roll the smart car back over with only 4 guys

  • Damn that's one abrupt stoppage! If you live through that you'd be lucky that your neck didn't break!

  • @TheDolphinsfan1966: Stopping is bad. Bouncing back makes things worse. It would have been better if the cars had absorbed the energy of the crash so the small one didn''s bounce away. This is the lie of vehicle safety tests: make sure you get one with a good safety rating AND one that is big.

  • Both of them did very well.

  • @LoveTheCity123 Would you regard the smart car as doing "pretty well" when it bounced of the S class and rolled? Ideally cars should absorb the impact and not roll over. Theres a very good chance that the fuel tank could leak following such a roll and therefore a risk of ignition. I dont think it did that well.

  • @mitsucanter247365 Regardless if the Smart car rolled over, it still is classified as safe in this test. As long as you have your seatbelt on, there is nothing to worry about. Yes, probably even if you get hit in the side by a car, there is about a 90% chance you will roll, BUT the Smart car's roof is very, very strong. Nothing will happen to you. If I drove a Smart, I wouldn't worry about rolling over because I know the roof is strong.

  • @LoveTheCity123 Not disputing its unsafe, they have very strong frames, one of the strongest in fact, to me they have allways looked a little bit to tall and unstable through quick tight turns, if you manage to roll one then at least you wont get crush by the cars own weight on its roof, but the chance of the tank spilling fuel out the filler neck is one id rather not take regardless if its one of the safest cars.

  • @LoveTheCity123 Rolling over is not an issue with Smart. Becoming ping-pong ball on busy 5 lanes freeway - is.

  • @zrvpvo8789 It's a good thing majority of the owners of a Smart car live in a big city such as New York, and not travel on interstates ...

  • @LoveTheCity123 That is a wishful thinking - not a fact. I see lot more Smarts in LA then in Manhattan. Even Smart cannot beat MTA.

  • @zrvpvo8789 And L.A.'s traffic moves about 10 MPH. Besides, you don't live in Manhattan, so you don't know. Not all, but MAJORITY of Smart car owners travel short distances or live in Manhattan.

  • @LoveTheCity123 On contrary to NYC - L.A. traffic speed depends on time and place. Difference in 30 minutes translates into difference in 75 mph.

Where exactly did you find in my profile 'I don't live in Manhattan' ? I spent decade in NYC and have family living in the upper midtown. The amount of Smart cars in Manhattan is literally a fraction in comparison to LA.

Not like you prevented from becoming ping-pong ball driving Smart on FDR drive being New Yorker.

  • @zrvpvo8789 Obviously you don't know nothing about Manhattan because FDR Drive's speed limit is only 45 -50 MPH. That is nothing. Also, please stop using the " ping-pong ball " exaggeration ; It makes you look illiterate because if a Smart car DID loose control on a busy and fast interstate, most likely drivers would slam on their breaks just as they would with any car. You have no knowledge of crash safety, so do us both a favor and stop arguing with someone who has more reference than you.

  • @LoveTheCity123 Speed limit hardly stops anyone doing 80 on FDR. Even at 50 mph impact of something like Escalade will send you flying so fast that you wouldn't even have a chance to press the brakes. Do you even have driver license genius?

  • Smart shit

  • Ha ha at 1:47 it looks like the dummy is saying "ow, my head".

Smart did pretty good, I think.

  • puta this is boring

  • this shit is boring. i wanna get out :(

  • im in class

  • Mercedes driver is fine. The (notso) Smart driver is still dislodging his head from his ass.

  • @Dan9155 Actually I can. Probably a couple of them if I really wanted them but I don't. But thanks for the concern...

  • S class makes Smart look stupid.

  • Lol s-class didn"t even went off track

  • Dont get smart with an s class

  • @TrAs1993 Fazit für was?

  • I would like to see the S-Class vs. S-Class test performed in the same way,

  • what T966ER wants to say is that in a city, with much more obstacles, it's hard to have someone ram into you with such speed. Therefore smart might be better choice since it saves you fuel $.

Sure there are idiots still speeding, but if you say that, even mercedes S isn't safe enough... You have to drive a Hamvee or Tank to be safe.

(Even if you have a tank, someone may still crash you with a car while you are walking)

Bottom line, stop replying to his 9 month old post.

  • lmao 00:15

  • smart car are gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • @superayman5000 Shit man, this car is much cooler than... I don't know, sorry...

  • @superayman5000 you're gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • I wouldn't have one of the Shit classes either. I guess what you are paying for in on the interior not the exterior. One thing that both do share, cheap ass plastic.

  • I'll take the one that won't turn my internal organs to goo.

  • @Adam19822000

Thats both cars in this case

  • @Adam19822000 or snap your neck from sudden stoppage.

  • Samrt and Mercedes are the same.

  • @vrroomvroomcars188 smart is made buy mercedes and owned by daimler. it may be made in france but the materials are german

  • 1:43 - The side airbags went off in the Mercedes? You gotta be s***tin me.

  • Not so smart now, eh?

  • Ale urwał!

  • Of corse the S-Class is more heavy than the Smart.

The point of this video, for me, is that buyers should be aware of facts and not lying themselves with security myths. NCAp whatever crashtests... very fine, but you can´t beat Newton, the heavier car is the winner. thats the point.

  • @computername

The latest auto safety technology mitigates the hard laws of physics!

Despite what you may think, this is a safe car.

1- small & very responsive means you'll avoid many accidents that the heavy vehicle can't avoid

2- stiff roll cage and other safety features protect the passengers, even in this extreme an example.

    3- Proof?

a- Insuring this car is inexpensive, due to its user replaceable body panels & last 2 yrs of accident data.

b- safeandsmart dotcom see 1st responder statemnts

  • @ragnapebble nonsense. the smart car would have been thrown into a sidewalk and kill many innocents

  • @ragnapebble Yeah, I think that you forgot to mention that in the smart, there is no crumple zone...

  • @ragnapebble The only reason you still running your mouth and challenging everyone who doubts Smart safety - you never been in serious collision while driving your beloved midget. I can assure you - serious impact of S-class will clear your brain very fast.

  • @ragnapebble insuring the car is inexpensive because the insurance agency won't have to worry about paying medical bills of occupants of either vehicle. The smart car occupants will be dead of a neck injury from sudden stoppage and the opposite car's occupants will be fine.

  • It's the massive difference in mass and design. The smart is tiny, yet has to take a lot of impact. The mercedes doesn't take near a half of the force the smart did

  • S-Klasse owned the Smart

  • Had the smart not rolled, it may have been better...but it did roll. lol The S-Class was like "what was that?" haha

  • ill take the v12 s class now ;D

  • haha safety my ass

  • @zzshakedownzz Bullshit. Even the smart provides more saftey than most of your cheap SUV's -.- We are talking about a mass ratio of 2:1. The smart is a very safe car, considering its mass and length. After all the Germans, especially Mercedes produces the best cars in the world.

  • @godsadog i kinda agree with you. but i mean i would rather be in a suv or a regular size car than get hit while in a smart car. size does matter in things like this for the most part. the people in the smart car would be all fucked up.

  • @sailorboy2008 Wrong. I asked my friend which is working for Mercedes-Benz and AMG in Stuttgart and I showed him this video. He knows all the data about this perticular crash and the people in the car would have survived.

The smart is the perfect car for big cities to find a parking place.

  • @godsadog oh ok then. i stand corrected. i guessed they would have survived. i just figureed that there might havce been more injuries in the smart car compared to the sedan. but ill take your word. i dont know much of anything about the smart car really.

  • @godsadog Smart is perfect for European big cities. Irrelevant in US.

I never had issues to park Infiniti QX-56 in 10 mln. megalopolis! Considering that you can count at least 100 S-class sedans for every Smart around here - it's hardly the 'safe' choice. 'Would have' - assumption not a fact. Not every German made car best by default. I've seen Smart with jammed doors that was hit by Honda at parking lot speed. Even Mercedes engineers cannot override laws of physics.

  • @zrvpvo8789 But nearly ; )

  • Haha breakdance xD

  • Unbelievable I thought the smart car would never roll over what happened to American Car Safety ?

  • @counkev The smart car is made in france not america.

  • you'd think a small car like the smart car has no crunch zone... the damage on the s-class was definitely more severe has a better center gravity.. i think its called.

  • Argh..they could have simply asked me what would an s-class do to a smart. They destroyed a perfectly fine S-class for this! I could use a car like that

  • poor smart

  • so what does this mean lets all go buy smart cars for their great fuel mileage

  • smart is fantastisch

  • Nicht einmal die Windschutzscheibe zerbarst.

Not even the wind screen broke!

  • @GoldsteinBaruch: Dafür aber der Beifahrer!

  • @GoldsteinBaruch BURSHETCHYSBEILJESSICABIEL

  • @GoldsteinBaruch its true but even so the smart fairs less well in the actual human shock....for it has a very little crumble zone and thus the ppl inside take alot more forces (G) to there bodies wich at the end of the day is not good. But I must say yes its a tought car even tho its little.

  • its too bad I dont speak german

  • @FEAR27 Its like over 2vs1 for the smart. Speed is like over 70 km/h cause of the weight of teh S-Class.

Dangerous about the accident is, that the smart rotated and was lying on the side after all, that makes a rescue mission more difficult.

  • @FEAR27 he said "HAIL HITLER!!"

  • nearly ervery car of this class will collaps like a flan if its crashs into a S-Class....

Eventhough smart is also built by Mercedes.....

  • SMART ASS

  • lols, lousy Merz

  • The impact is probably survivable, but the rebound is murder! I'll stick with a 4500-pound Roadsmasher Buick.

  • well, the rebound of your buick would not be "murder", but you´d be crushed by 4500 pounds of steel.

the smart is fucking save for what it is, safer than a lot of big and heavy cars actually, but accidents are never safe anyways.

  • 4500 lb of Buick weight hardly consist of steel.

It's a sheet metal which collapses easily thus absorbing impact. The distance between front of Roadmaster and the driver is a about length of whole Smart.

Just because Smart safer then most small cars - hardly the fact it's safer then ANY larger ones.

  • @zrvpvo8789

    Hey!

I'm pleased to see you saying that the Smart car is safer than most other small cars. That's really all that I'm trying to get across to the majority of people that look at it and just assume it's not safe at all!

  • i guess "death" in german translates to "smart" in english, lol. what exactly is so smart about a smart car. it was like a lineman havin a head on collision with the captain of the chess team

  • I'll take the S class. Now if I lived in a city with stop lights every 50ft, I'd take a smart.

  • @T966ER What difference does it make if u live in a city or not? People still SPEED and drive like retarded idiots

  • @T966ER people still run stop lights, so i would never take a smart!

  • @T966ER I'd still take the S because it'll be easier to stop every fifty feet if I don't need to hold my foot on the brake pedal.

  • wow!..smart is dancing! 'break dance"

  • I think what will happen is the smart will bounce off and hit an another car which follows it or etc. And yeah, it is likely that the passengers will receive insumountable damage, in any way.

  • They need to go get an old Volvo to crash into a Smart, if you did that I would bet money the Volvo would still work after that crash.

  • lol imagine it against a hummer h1 knock..."whats that on my windscreen" OW MY GOD!

  • haha they put the dummy on a wheelchair "Get the stretcher!!! We're losing him!!" o.O

I would not wanna be in that smart car, you bounce off one car and hit another one going 40 miles per hour, then bounce off that and etc...

  • Why does the Smart Car shit itself before the crash at 1:31 ???

  • LMFAO!!!!!!

  • the passenger compartment stayed in tact but when your body goes from 40mph forward to 10 mph backwards and upside down in a matter of seconds your brains gonna turn into pee soup...

  • lol this vid is scandalous in a weird way.

  • I have a Ford F-250 extended cab 4x4 with a V-10 and a large steel brush guard with a winch. IT weighs in at about 7,200 empty. I know that if I hit a smart car, with my 37" tires I'll go up and over. There won't be much of the car left to pull out from under me! I know I will be walking away.

  • 37" man?thats..1.5X bigger than a bicycle wheel...

  • Taxmanrog - it depends on who caused the crash. If you did, you wouldn't just walk away. You would been charged for killing someone.

  • @taxmanrog

I don't know how similar an F150 is to your car but... an F150 doing 45mph T-boned a smart fortwo. It folded like an accordion. The smart driver was just severely bruised!

Don't believe me? Read Ginny's letter to Smart at safeandsmartdotcom!

  • A standard F150 is about 4,800lbs empty and has under 9" clearance, so it would have more impact and follow-through. My truck is 3,200 lbs more, has more than 12" gound clearance, and a bumper that is 30" off the ground, so I would tend to go up and over. I doubt if the result would be the same as the F150.

  • @microcarman

10 years old can write letter and say that M1A1 Abrams folded like accordion when it T-boned Smart. Adult in the right mind would realize that it nothing but Ginny's imagination. C-class Benz sends Smart flying being lighter and lower then F-150.

    Grow UP.

  • Imagine what a f-350 or ram 3500 what do to that smart car.

  • Smart yamuldu

  • If you do happen to survive in the smart car it still would not be good your legs will be half way up your ass.Good luck to you over sized golf cart drivers when you get on the interstate and tangle with a 18 wheeler or a full size pickup fo that matter.

  • ok know we get it if someone hits you in the front of the smart he will survive but what will happen if someone hits you from the back wile your are in a smart what will happen?

  • they are great but they have limmits you and your car are nouthing but a smashed egg air born at that! simple phys. play pool much?

  • The Smart in intact on that crash but the passagers are dead. In the S class the car is distroy but all passagers are alive and make a long life :)

  • I'd like to see a 1985 500SEL vs a 2003 S500. That would be interesting..

  • S class is fucked up, and smart you can repair in poland ;)

  • holy shit that looked like a boke flipping over
