i love pontiac i had a 06 gto i cammed and some bolt ons nw i own a 98 ws6 h/c/i making 428 rwhp with a 12 bolt rear and full suspension mods my grandpa use to own a 69 lemans long live pontiac
Picture at 3:47 was from Hot Rod Magazine. That was the last Pontiac V8 built. After that, they went with the Olds 307 and 403. And of course the Chevy 305 and 350 for the Firebird.
My mom had a Sunbird in the 80's. My dad was nice enough to drive it into a resevior for her, but then he got stuck driving it. It was in the winter and my dad had to use an icescraper on the inside and outside everyday. It kept running for a year or so afterwards. My aunt loves her Grand Am GT. I don't think she'll ever get rid of it. My stepmom has a early 90's Bonneville that now rotting away in the backyard (next to my 73 AMX) due to too many things wrong with it.
I can't thank you enough for placing this video here.I hired in at Pontiac Motor Div.Nov.28th 1964-my Dad-Grandfather both also retired from Pontiac Motors. It broke my heart the day the factory in Pontiac MI. was closed for good even though Pontiac's were made else where. There was not a plant that I didn't work in over my years at Pontiac. But to hear the death drum beat to end the life of the brand Pontiac made my heart skip a few beats".If not for Obama GM would be gone "period".Cheers to all
I refuse to buy anything made by Chevy that came from Pontiac. Thats just an embarrassment to GM and Pontiacs Owners. I own a 2000 and a 2002 Grand Prix and I refuse to let them die. Even though one has had a motor changed 3 times (Because I drive it everywhere; total of 374k mi on it family trips and so on) If they do comeback they need to bring the older models back. Not the new shit like G5
Pontiac will eventually comeback, probably before 2020 or after. I don't believe Pontiac is dead forever. If GM pays back the money they owe the Gov, then i can guarantee it will comeback. The only decent newer cars they came out with was the G6 and G8, the G3 and G5 was just something quick they pulled out they're ass to see if anyone would buy them.
Was the name of the employee "John Snyder"to install a Pontiac V-8 engine in 1981 ? Does anyone know which plant this photo was taken at or where he worked
Fantastic tribute to a once great and unique GM division. I wish I had seen my '75 Grandville convertible on the assembly line-the last full size Pontiac convertible.
Same scenes all over western europe,we now have to make do with cheap asian shite..Classics like this will never return..We should have learnt a lesson..
thank you for this video my dad would of been proud. he started building Pontiacs in 65 with the gto and in the 80's last Pontiac he made was the fiero :)
Awesome video. Closing of pontiac- the end of a great time. This video almost made me cry when I watch it. To think of all the great cars they made and all of those people losing there jobs. People who buy Foreign cars are the reason these people are losing there Jobs. Just think about that the next time you are deciding between buying a US car or a foreign car. My first car was a Pontiac Sunbird and I loved it. After I had to get rid of It I decided I would only buy a Pontiac or A Chevy.
I will miss them so. They are a big part of the automobile history, and that they will keep.....
Perhaps can anybody recover the trademark in anytime....
My faves were The 60s models GTO and Bonneville (as Convertible). I saw one when I was young boy and the cars here in Europe looked like cars from the 40s and 50s. It was like the visit of an extraterristic ship....hahaha
3 years ago when GM came out with the Camaro Concept I was really hoping by 2010 Pontiac would be rolling out the new Firebird Trans Am. But what we got was the middle finger and Pontiac's demise. :(

This is a fitting tribute for the men and women that built the cars that people dreamed about when America was great. Awesome song, too!
RIP Pontiac...we hardly knew ye.

If it wern't for the 6 or 7 chinamen buying Buicks overseas, they might have saved Pontiac for us.
