  • Beautiful music! Great band!

  • Холдер со своим вокалом легко мог собирать стадионы даже без музыки ,только ударные и всё---STAN VLAD

  • yes, maybe the time had come for slade to call it a day,but what a song to finish with.

  • loved this, should have been a hit. not to be

  • They didn't stand a chance in the current charts at the time, nirvana tore them a new asshole

  • Such sincere song... Such solemn..and i cry, when i see it. last moment of greatest band...

  • 1:34 wahahahahahaha what a guy that Noddy.

  • Slade quit when they were at their best

  • Slade's final crack at the charts and again the entire UK turned their backs, seeing the song as another attempt to get the usual "Slade Xmas Hit". Whilst My Oh My, All Join Hands and Still The Same all had their own meaningful messages, this song had something honest and rather special. It may not have been the way Slade should have disappeared but it was a fitting grand finale.

  • What went wrong? The John Lennon Glasses probably didnt help

  • hehe, selbst bei ner heizdeckenverkaufsaktion kommen die noch ganz gut rüber

  • Slade used to release a very similar-sounding record nearly every Christmas ever since they ahd a hit with My Oh My

  • 1991 ...bands around queen with innuendo, guns, metallica, and the explosion of nirvana. this is a nice song but out of time. this is the reason why after 20 years we can appreciate this.

and more.. the teens who bought records on 70's maybe stopped buing records on 90's all the top bands of the 70's got troubles on 80's and 90's apart queen and pink floyd ....is a wheel that turns

  • @ziofagio True that, but I think Slade are better than the ones you mentioned bar none. Slade are the best band after the Beatles, or maybe the best. Live act, number of real tunes, diverseness in styles, Slade are virtually unequalled. Nirvana, Guns n Roses, how many styles could they play? I love 80 s Slade, the last 3 albums are so different. Wonderful stuff. And also prefame Slade, the classical tracks etc. Once in a generation band, IMHO, however succesful other bands or acts after 1990.

  • @proslade

you are so right, pro! better..the best!

    And this song..perfect!

  • @IDIOOTTI62 ALSO THINK YOU MIGHT BE THIS FAGGOT CARLPHONE/PROSLADE BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN YOU TWO TALK TO EACH OTHER ON LIKE 40 SLADE VIDEOS...YOU FIT THE PATTERN!

  • @DanielDumile

....hmm... you are so wrong...but if you don't like this kind of music..why are you here,,,maybe your place is in madonna's or lady gaga's page?? or whatever other shit...... ??

  • Nice song. Great band Even though this, My oh My, and we all join hands sound the same and are structured in a lot of the same ways, they are always fun to listen to.

  • I'm guessing Noddy's glasses were an intentional "nod" (pun intended) to John Lennon. This song definitely has a Beatles vibe to it. Good track - this deserved to make top 20, easily.

  • prosludge...........where the fuck have you gone......your mummy not paying for your uploads anymore!

  • this is my favourite slade song cannot believe it flopped just shows how fickle the music fans are when they stop supporting there heros

  • Bloody fantastic stuff.....

  • Amazing voice!!! Amazing band!!! :)

    Ruiseart.

  • Yes okay, hit super world, end ballada of glam rock

  • Great song, thanks.

  • One of those songs that you just can't understand wasn't /isn't more well received - you can see though that they're aiming for the My Oh My market.

  • The guitar player seems a lot with my teacher of classic guitar in 1994!

  • What a great band!

    Ruiseart.

  • first time I heard this one cheers - rave was kinda goin on then etc Salde were a great band for a kid to grow up with - their greatest hits stands as a greaat collection of guitar pop, the film is still great, they were great live, and they've grown old gracefully somehow - cheers to SLADE

  • super awesome I love Slade

  • It keeps me warm!

  • I fell in love with this band when the video for My Oh My played on MTV in the 80's. I still love that song!

  • wow never heard this before and it's great...noddy looks like a friggin crazy scientist out of a movie tho...my albums are pretty scratchy now, no Slade Cd's here in Canada.

  • i love this band and every song they made noddys great singer for me greatest of all time

  • I really liked this song, shame is flopped.

Fucking British public have no taste in music, reason why all that X factor shit is in the charts.

  • Slade is one of the best rock band of the world. Long live SLADE!!!!!

  • i cannot find the studio version of this song..

  • @lanewaa Wall of Hits.

  • @proslade Wall of SHITS

  • @teddingtontcu thought you had got to feck out off here. why do u persist in pissing us good music fans off so much.if you dislike slade so much take the batteries out off your hearing aid and go to your doctor and he will tell u where to go because youre in need for some serious help in your musical needs

  • @teddingtontcu Hahahahahaha Teddingtroll is the wall of SHIT hahaha!!! That s so tacky from you as always!!! YOU will be in REAL SHIT forever if you think 'arguing' is the way to accomplish anything in your sad little existence. Anyway, you are 51, too old to get a life....keep the 'good' arguing with other commenters here, up!!! Great!!!

  • noddy looks old on there

  • Awesome song.

  • - Dzięki Noddy! Trzymajcie sie chłopaki!...

  • Listening to this again, it wern't a bad way to go out.

    Keep on Rockin'!

  • Greatest live band I've ever seen, only Oasis come anywhere near!

  • I can't understand that this song flopped, it's great :(

  • @c05urban sadly times were changing. grunge and thrash were moving in and bands like Nirvana and Metallica were taking over the mainstream

  • I saw Slade live (1980), they were fantastic. Best live band I've ever seen, bar none. So much energey on stage from all four of them! Sadly, there are no videos on Youtube to do them justice - they were just a bit too early, bands didn't often get filmed live in those days and the equipment just wasn't up to making bootlegs...

    Sadly.

  • Noddy on his worst day was better than most other rock singers at their peaks. I wish I had seen Slade live (with the original guys, of course). Not a bad song, though, regardless.

  • Comment removed

  • hell no.

  • Thats not bad that, even though Slade had long ago been their stomping best in the 70`s.

  • Oh I dunno some of those 80's albums rocked, 'We'll Bring The House Down', 'Til Deaf...', 'Kamikaze Syndrome...' all had some incredible songs on them.

  • Love Slade! Can't believe they banned Salde in Flame here in the States. I got it before they did it though, but the album got ruined. Opps! Dated myself, huh?

  • I've just discovered Slade on YouTube. What a great band with great songs! I can't believe I've never heard of them. Why were they banned here in the US? I haven't seen or heard anything offensive from them.

Yeah, I'm usually the last one to catch on.

  • @breezebro how old are you,, cant believe you have just found this great british glam rock band,, dont be fooled by the glam bit,,this band stood out on its pure talent,,they are the quintesential rockers of the purest kind,, hope you stick with them, they made a hell of a lot of songs, but they rarely made a bad one,,, truth is l dont know any to mention,, happy listening,,,rob,

  • @robharding1957 I'm older than the hills, I'm 57. They don't seem to fit in the glam rock category to me. I don't like much since the Beatles but I always have an ear listening for good tunes, that's why I'm surprised I missed them altogether. Not much air time in US, I guess.

  • @breezebro -- don't "fit"? they ARE GLAM ROCK. This 91 song is not them at their height.

  • @InklingFan I'm sure you know much more about it than I do since I ignored the whole glam rock era in general. I guess what I mean is that Slade seems to be better than what I consider to be glam rock and in that sense don't fit.

  • Comment removed

  • @breezebro No they don t fit the Glam category, that is a misleading perception of a band that had so much more to offer. If you are looking for making real tunes in an unparallelled number of pop and rock genres, Slade is the band, I don t think any music act in the history of pop comes even close if that is what you are looking for.

  • I'd forgotten how good this song was. Even in their final years, Slade were great!

  • @Perranporth Slade was verry great - with Noddy and Jim!

  • @ sladev!

  • if jimmey is on volin whos playin piano and does any1 know where i can see ready to explode by slade on utube

  • Ds schönste Abschiedslied einer absoluten Kult- und Starband das ich je gehört habe! Danke Slade!

  • The only one of them that never changed a bit, aside from wearing the top hat and coat, was Jim Lea...since the first clip they did, i have never seen Jim any different.

  • Great video - I'd not seen it before. It's difficult to watch it without being influenced by the knowledge that this was the end of the line. The last two singles were strong songs - quality to the end.

What I like about this song is Dave Hill just quietly getting on with being Dave Hill. He was the same when I saw in the 70s and 80s and was pretty much the same when I saw him later in SladeII A real professional.

  • Totally agree with you.

Wasnt around in their heyday, I came around 2 years after this.

But fuck'n LOVEE them so much!

  • the best (les meilleurs)!!!

  • All they needed was a couple of big hits and they would have lasted another 5 years.. Noddy voice was still strong at the end.

  • You are sooo right !

  • Their preforming for 100 year mummies. What an underrated band.

  • Kasselerkamm, I THINK what The Truth006 means is "They're performing in front of mothers who are 100 years old", rather than saying Slade are 100 years old.

  • My only issue is, that even though is this a brilliant band, they got desperate for a successful single, and acting desperate when miming to an emotional song is just painful to watch.

  • do you have the promo to this song?...cheers.

  • How on earth could this wonderful song have flopped, as the comments say, I wonder? Sure, it's for heart and soul, not for feet. Just another Slade masterpiece!!!

  • I don't know if i can go that far..but this track in particular reminds me of Queen,

everything is so theatrical and Big..

They also held their own...same image, same boys.Love them.

  • Why are all the old bands better then the new bands?

  • Because they made music but nowadays make money...

  • i agree with you there was about the tunes not how much there next I tunes song will get them so they can put a jucuzzi in there living room

  • they played their own instruments, wern't pretty manufactured boy bands and knew how to rock and were genuine, not in it for the money the way they are now, re louis walsh and simon cowel

  • becouse the bands now doesnt have "School"

bands from 60's 70's had their school in blues, jazz, soul, funk, classical, etc. And apart from a lot of musical theory they got a put their hurt in what they do.

bands from now their school is pure pop music, alternative rock, or maaaybe 80's rock that was AOR and glam thats very different from those from 70's =(.

  • Great question and so true. My theory is that it's too easy to make electronic, synthesized crap now so fewer people learn how to play instruments, which takes years of practice. Plus kids today have too many other things to entertain themselves.

  • Schade das Noddy, Jimmy, Dave und Don nicht mehr zusammen gehalten haben.. Ehre dieser Band! Sie fehlen uns heute!!!

  • sto cojone avrebbe venduto la madre per un altra hit di merda

  • Great song! but kinda freaked me out when he looked at me... Reminded me of my grade school principle, i hated that fat bitch.

  • i wonder if noddy actually stands and checks his voice in the mirror and wonders if he should come back to the group? just a odd interesting thought, i love there music!

  • Brilliant!! Superb stuff! Thanks ;-)

  • They went out with a bang!

  • Funny, it was another "Universal" song - more subdued like this one, that spelled curtains for the Small Faces. Holder, who borrowed much from Steve Marriott chose to disband Slade after this, just as Marriott, dejected over the lack of interest in his "Universal" ended the Small Faces. Sure wish Noddy and Jim would rejoin Don and Dave.

  • i loveeeee!!!!!

  • I love this

  • dave is the best, ops, slade is the best (:

  • a hidden treasure

    I love it

  • Nody is as brilliant as always!Very classy song!

  • Y did this flop?

    Great tune.

  • Noddy is the best!

    Slade rocks!

  • Trochu češtiny :-) Výborná písnička. Vždy si vzpomenu na ty hezké chvíle mládí

  • A lovely coda to an exemplary career.Noddy's voice was still as amazing and heartfelt as it sounded decades earlier.Don Powell isn't miming on this;did he play on the record?

  • I rekon Noddy Holder is Pete Russells Twin.

  • hmmm, never heard this number before.

    Which record is it from?

  • respect to the noddster greatest band ever long may they reign supreme over this modern crap ..

  • Slade is one of the best things was happened on this world...

  • i totally agree, every time im fed up, put some slade on feel great again

  • Slade was the most underrated band of all time! I absolutely LOVED all their songs but Universe is my fave! I know it's not as wild and loud as the old stuff, I guess I've grown with them. They are ROCK GODS!

  • Not too underrated really. After all, they wrote one of the best Christmas songs ever!!! & who could forget Noddy's voice?! (I've just heard 'Get Down & Get With It' & my ears are hurting)

  • What a beautiful song to release as your final song. Thanks boyz U wer grate!

  • I likke also the vrsion from James whild lea...great fan ofhim

  • It's on James Whild Lea's great, great album "Therapy". I'm also a great fan of him. Hi also wrote all the Slade tunes.

  • @arimakiaho Yes, Jim is the most underrated genius in pop history!

  • great song,i really like it.Pity there isnt more new stuff

  • Your insane comments made me misspell, creep

  • oops

  • yu yu yu a real surprise, i'm astonished!!! gu gu gu joub gu gu gu joub

  • Anyway, every group have made some songs that they perhaps should have changed a bit...

  • wow, i'm 42; music i listen and play (i'm a musician): NICK DRAKE, ORNETTE COLEMAN, MILES DAVIS, JOHN COLTRANE, GENTLE GIANT, FAMILY, RESIDENTS, CAPTAIN BEEFHEART etc.

Ok? i don't need this crappy songs

    bye

  • wow, I'm 16 years old, and I listen to all kind of rock from the 50's - 80's, which I also try to play(, i'm not a musician)

Ok? I need this slade song (lol)

    bye

  • i don't need this song. so what? is an opinion. can i express an opinion?

  • Well well well, ...why so negative? I can hardly think that anyone cares about you and your lousy music, keep away from Slade, buster

  • nobody can tell me where i have to go, ok dummy?

  • Your inteligens keeps surprising us all

  • intelliGENCE; your english surprise all of us

  • Hoo mee?

  • everyone has opinions, everyone has arseholes, it dont mean that you can share them with everybody. if you dont like the song dont listen

  • Wer die Musik von Slade nicht mag hat keine Ahnung vom guten Alten Rock´n´Roll.

    T.S.W.214

  • trop cool cette vdo !

    slade sont les meilleurs !

  • the will always be a great band

  • These guys dont have to prove a shit, we know they were great.. at the time that kind of music was in...like My oh my, right?

  • My oh My was made in 83 but this was in like 89 or 90 but still either way this is one of the best bands ever

  • ma va a cagare

  • They should release some more with their current line-up

  • you really need to get a life

  • listin to us we don't like your crappy new music

  • B***k men can dance but can't sing

  • Wow you need to get out from under your rock and listen to real music. im 13 and it seems i have much better taste in music.

  • FABULOUS TRACK-ROCK/METAL AND NICE BALLARDS-SLADE HAD IT ALL-WHEN YOU SAW THEM LIVE-YOU HAD A GREAT TIME-SOMETHING i'LL NEVER FORGET

  • class act

  • This is a great song, but: Noddy looks a total gong in those glasses. That is obviously why the single didn't sell, dumb glasses :-(

So, the group grinds to a halt, Noddy and Jim leave and Slade is no more, just because of some daft specs...

  • Do you really think a single of this band flops because of the mans glasses? Come on..

This song is very average and forgettable.

  • To a Slade fan this song is not average and forgetable. We all know Noddy and his style of always wearing something absulutely crazy. He's always been a bit of a clown......always smiling and happy.

  • To louissmith 179

Absolutely right; that´s also what strikes me, watching all those videos. Noddy´s always looking so happy. Watching him makes me happy too...

  • I saw them I think in 1974or 75 and they blew my socks off. It was at the old Majestic theater in Dallas, Texas. Led Zeppelin sat in a box seat and the great late John Bohnom(probably spelled wrong) threw fruit at Slade. All in all it was a week-end to remember. Led Zepplin on Friday night in Dallas , Slade on Saturday night and again Led Zep on Sunday night in Ft. Worth, Texas. The good old days !! No ticket over $7.

  • Such a luxirious song and such a song moment... I have tears in my eyes, the miracle is over... But in our hearts it will be eternal...

  • Wow - there's a lot of grannies in the crowd.

  • great song, slade are the best!!!!!

  • It's song of my childhood!!!!!!!!!

  • One of my favourites of Slade. Great song, thanks for posting it!

  • Love this song, it kinda reminds you of My oh my, I wish it charted, then Noddy might not have left!

  • Is that Jerry Springer singing?

  • Have anyone noticed how old rockers, with their long hair, resemble old witches a lot?

This song is nice but far away from Slade's best days.

  • If old rockers are lucky they look like old witches - sometimes they look like cueballs.

Jim Lea looked fairly youthful for a long time though.

  • Yeah he looks very young for his age and even sexy.

  • i love this song ... maybe any 1 know where to find chords for this song?

  • tis a real shame this song didn't chart

  • Where was Don??? I love these guys but it looked like death throws to me...

  • My guess is that Noddy didn't want to do it anymore, but he agreed to do a couple more singles ("Universe" and "Radio Wall Of Sound" before he left.

"Universe" is a sweet tune, though. Slade has quite a few real nice ballads through their history. "Wonderin' Y" is one of my faves.

A great band with so many great songs. I wish Slade could have had more hits here in the States. But I guess it was our loss more then their's.

  • really nice song...it should've charted.

  • nice song!! OLD CROWD!!!!!! THE AUDIENCE!!!
