  • how can we get some of this wood?

  • @0dannyboy0 I see you are in Aussie. I have not had much contact with growers over there, but have heard there are extensive plantings in certain areas. I know Tom Wagener from Noosa uses paulownia for his surfboards and would probably have a list of suppliers. You could track him down through his website

  • @kwbloke Hi thanks for that, I am in NZ now. Is there anyone producing reasonable quantities in NZ?

  • @0dannyboy0 I do not have a huge amount planted, but have access to other supplies once you use up my 200 trees.Probably best to contact me on mobile 027 2895927

  • is paulownia suitable for timber framing a house?

  • @stupidnamenoonecares No. The timber is lightweight at about 240 kgs per cubic metre when dried (about half way between balsa and poplar in density). I don't think nails would hold in it - you would need a coarse threaded screw. It is bonded with glue or resins in most of the applications I sell it for.

  • @kwbloke ahh! i was thinking traditional large timber framing (post and beam) but i guess it's the same problem. thanks for the reply!

  • Great summer conditions to do this fine mill work
