I would contend that neither has morality, for obvious reasons, and as I said before, that's fairly common amongst politicians. And by the way, braying about standards but not following them does not qualify one as having those standards at all. I too can thump the Bible and throw verses at anyone I please but following the commandments is where the hard stuff is at. So conservatives don't get to claim they are setting any standards.
If anything, they are doing worse than if they had just not mentioned any standards to begin with. But at least what you term as the "liberal democrat" is in general a lot more personally honest and self-aware than his conservative counterpart. Surely you agree with me that liberals spend a lot less time preaching at others about morality than conservatives, in disproportion to the number of times they are caught in a morally compromised position.

The issue here is with hypocrisy. John Ensign is one of the biggest finger-pointers and advocates wrt marital fidelity. So for him to go against his own standards so blatantly is shocking. I would contend that neither has morality, for obvious reasons, and as I said before, that's fairly common amongst politicians. And by the way, braying about standards but not following them does not qualify one as having those standards at all. I too can thump the Bible and throw verses at anyone I please but following the commandments is where the hard stuff is at. So conservatives don't get to claim they are setting any standards.
