  • This is the best recording of this on YT- WHY didn't you get the whole piece?!??? AARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!! Marvelous. Don't remove it.

  • Excellent

  • I FEEL THAT...MY YORUBA LOVELY ACCENT

  • Now with the power in the clapping, the fine voices unto the Lord and the powerful music, how can heavenly father not look upon us from heaven and join us in spirit? This is one of the joys of being an African/Christian. Knowing the power and multitude of radical praise. Like King David. The original purpose of praise, dance and music shall never perish. Ni Oru Ka Jesu.

  • Wow.

  • I love how they do it - now this is joyous!

  • LOOOOOOOVE IT!

  • Wow! Very amazing indeed! We're doing this piece for UIL this year. I hope we can live up to this!

  • I actually had the honor of being in the audience for this performance. It was extremely amazing to see not only the Morehouse College Glee club, but the Spellman College Glee club in concert and it inspired me as a musician. This was my favorite song that Morehouse performed that night.

  • @deadgoddess01 - of course it was your favorite! I heard it for the first time at dress rehearsal for a joint Christmas concert when I sang with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. When they finished, all 300+ orchestra and chorus gave them a stomping, whooping, weeping, standing ovation. (It was a good thing we got it out at rehearsal or we would've blown the first performance- lol!)

  • great job!!!

  • stunning!

  • awesome!

  • Fab-u-lous!

If you've never seen them in person -- you MUST make it a point to see them!

  • i was in a concert with them tonight and saw them perform this. i got goosebumps it was beautiful!

  • Beautiful as ALWAYS!! Just saw the concert tonight!! :) Much love Morehouse Brothers!!

  • Please also try our rendition of the song Betelehemu.just type Himig sanghaya in your youtube search bar then click the one that has Betelehemu on its title. thank you very much.God bless!

  • How about this....Your opinion on the video is greatly appreciated. We need not boast about or give you history on the song, the ORIGINAL performers or its COMPOSER. Because I'm SURE you perform it perfectly....every time....CD quality....with percussion that fits the style... with Chants (not screams and random noises) customary or the Yoruba tribes... with the claps in the correct place at the correct time....you don't...oh!...well then...we can all keep working...

  • We did this same song for All Region X, with the same clinician!

  • I guess you don't know the African roots of the song and how they sing it in Nigeria. And yes it is a bad recording - but that is obviously besides the point.

  • I would say that the recording quality is bad, but beyond that how is it a rendition when the arranger of the song is Dr. Wendell P. Whalum former director of The Morehouse College Glee Club

  • The recording quality was definitely bad, but this is not a rendition. Our former director arranged this song.

  • this is an african chant song..sortof....of course it is going to be hard to hear...this is one of the best songs, and hardest, that i have ever done and we had a blast doing it, so dont knock it till you try it(i bet your stuff wouldnt sound that great if it was recorded)

  • no, no, no...not a reendition...the original. thanks.

  • my choir is singing this song for our christmas concert this year im excited they sang it 5 years ago so no i get to sing it and the last time hey sang it it was ridiculousy good

  • ok an update....we sang it and i had the solo and we killed it its gonna b posted its betelhemu CHS men's choir

  • I... CANNOT... WAIT TO PERFORM THIS!!

  • they do it just like us..the boys choir of tallahassee

  • Noo you do it just like us

  • Glad to hear that you do it well then. Especially since it the Morehouse Glee Club was the first to do it.

  • no, no, no...you TRY to do it just like us kid.

  • The movements are so flawless. I'm afraid that my choir doesn't even begin to compare.

  • ...so breathtaking. Please upload more from the Morehouse Glee Club!!

  • Big up MCGC class Bass class '01 and '05

  • This is GREAT!

  • I remembered when you guys performed this in the Bahamas it was GREAT. keep it up guys.

  • Oh kool You enjoyed it for sure then. Which island? I sing with the Bahamas National Youth Choir, i dont ko if you remember.

  • Yall just don't know how much I long to sing with them for just one time. UGH why did I go to Univ. of AL and get a friggin business degree!!!!!!????

  • I sang in the GC and got a international business degree from Morehouse....

  • My Great-Uncle arranged this, Dr. Wendell P. Whalum. I'll be at Morehouse in the fall. My brother is in this video. Third or fourth from the right end on the front row.

  • I grew up listening to this in the 80's with the Glee Club album.. thank you for posting this.. and thank you men for carrying on the tradition
