  • FOX wasn't comedy? All this time I though FOX was supposed to be the funny one...

  • "The Court's Approach to the First Amendment will criple the ability of orinary citizens, Congress, States, to adopt even limited measures against corpotae domination of the electoral process" - Justice John Paul Stevens

  • I'm waiting for O'Reilly to blame the Democrats for earthquakes, you know he will eventually

  • i wish there was a way i could block Liberal Viewer from my computer. Anyone know of a way?

  • As long as your firewall is working properly, LiberalViewer - or anybody else who doesn't have a legitimate account on your box - should be effectively blocked from accessing your computer.

However, if you mean, as I suspect you do, "block LiberalViewer from using a public forum that I frequent to present facts and analysis that are inconvenient to the promotion of my political prejudices," then no, I can't think of anything, short of not frequenting YouTube. Or moving to Saudi Arabia.

  • Mr.Milbank said "a corporation" does anyone know the name of the corp. that the government contracted to for VA care?

  • I was at walter reed for two and a half years, my case, my story, was what originally initiated the walter reed scandal, a news reporter wanted to do a story on my last two years but I feared for my career, I can tell you that I went into general kileys office and yelled back and forth with him, they ended up discharging me with casts still on my arms, I am now 100% VA disability, I am only 24y/o

  • Then why does your profile say you're 20?

  • Wow that sucks man, sorry to hear that

  • What infuriates me the most about this and other mistreatment of my Soldiers is the lack of responsibility and care shown by those clearly in charge.

Those who exposed this may have had ulterior motives but the fact remains, a LOT of people have been abusing our wounded and injured warriors and getting away with it.

Sadly the entire system is a dis-service and when the war is over you civilians will de-fund even the little you are doing now.

Who is going to fight your wars later?

  • Fred Barnes looks like a closet homosexual. He needs to come out of the closet and wear some brighter colors.

  • shouldn't but does anyway.

  • why do all republicans wear the same style of glasses?

  • Bill Maher deserves an Emmy or something. Guy's a genius.

  • I thought Fox news was a comedy channel

    Wops

  • Fred Barnes wrote a fawning book about Bush & admires a fellow reactionary dimwit like Palin. Do you need any more?

  • i just think foxnews is so far to right and not serious journalist its more like some conserv neo con show its so crazy fr johnb.

  • Fred Barnes once again proves to be his own worse enemy and enemy to Republicans and Democrats. Barnes is yet another political hack at unfair, imbalanced & unashamed Fox "news". Evidence: Bush hired Fox's Tony Snow while Fox hired Bush's Karl Rove and Reagan's pet criminal, Oliver North, then Fox shamelessly give Mike Huckabee his own show which does nothing put anti-Obama propaganda and pro-McCain lies - the poor old guy's older than my great grandfather. Even Murdoch confesses to Fox's bias.

  • the media CBS ,NBC, TURNNER BRADCASTING, CNN, VIACOM, BET, ABC ARE OWNED BY THOSE WHO CREATED AND PROFIT FROM THE WAR SO WHAT DO US EXPECT FROM THE MEDIA?

  • Basic war strategy is to injure more than kill. If u hurt them, then u get 2-3 ppl that have to help that soldier vs actually fighting. So if you want to hinder and entire unit, cut off supply and slightly injure cuz unless u have a serious ambush strategy ur not gonna KILL everybody. It's all sad as hell...

  • I didnt know david brooks was conservative

  • Arguing with APPEASING liberals is useless. Anyone ever here of our "intervention" against slavery or Hitler? Those military actions turned out OK. War does solve problems sometimes.

  • johnsocal, you're right in saying that war has solved some of the problems in the world (the two examples you gave are pretty reasonable) but the fundamental problem with these is that they still killed millions, military and civilian. They've made it possible for the human species to cause its own extinction, and they've fed tension and hatred between opposing sides that culminates in more death and bloodshed. War does solve some problems, but more often than not it creates more.

  • Privatization is a plague.

Racing prices might be good for some time, but a race ultimately has only 1 winner.

One sees all these scifi movies about worlds run by huge private corporations...

Well huge independent monopolys already dictate the prices of many important medicines.

In Brazil, the government started making "illegal" copys of an expensive AIDS drug (american) that used to cost a small fortune to the poor. Brazil hands them out for free. HA! In your face, megacorp!

  • @TAKENnameARGH You're right. During the depression, the NRA allowed businesses to collaborate and regulate prices (and it worked for a short period of time), but it was soon afterward criticized by Populists, and eventually even determined unconstitutional. It's bad as a system, good as a remedy.

  • @TAKENnameARGH We have already seen one death. Let me share a long standing TRUTH. “They always burry their TOOLS”. As seen in the Pirates Creed of old,,, “Dead men tell no tales”. FACT: Fox News led America into war by championing the Bush/Cheney agendas. Rupert admitted to this in his answers to Charley Rose in the Davos, Switzerland interview. Let a few more News Corp. employees mysteriously die, AND THEN watch as willing witnesses come forward. Knute

  • "A man who is good enough to shed his blood for his country is good enough to be given a square deal afterwards."

    -Teddy Roosevelt

  • I stumbled across this, and thank you for this impeccably put together bit on the absurdity that is FAUX NEWS, I mean FOX NOISE, I mean FIXED NOISE.

  • u can take all those and shove them up ur ass , we don t need them if we learn how to respect ppl and stay out of there business fuck fox noise and aipac voice of the neo nazis

  • since when do liberals care about soldiers? If it was up to liberals, we wouldn't have any tanks, helicopters, tanks, submarines, or bombers. We'd have our soldiers our there with flashlights and flyers while people are getting beheaded.

Stop pointing fingers and come up with a solution you lazy retard.

  • Want to know how much Liberals care about the soldiers? They are fighting to take them out of harm's way and bring them home! The repubs in congress just voted out a bill for more down time for the soldiers and I find that reprehensible. And the Dems offered a 5% pay raise and Bush cut it down to 3%. $6.00 and he denied it! Fact check what you say.

  • Why would you have our soldiers over there for so long only to have them cut and run 6 months before the job is done? I know many soldiers and they all take great pride in the job they are doing.........Even if you want them to run like sissies now.

  • You are straight up crazy if you think the job will be done in six months; just check Bush's most recent statement on the war. You cannot reform a society on a time scale of years; it takes decades and centuries. This combined with the fact that we KNOW, despite many attempts to obfiscate the truth, that Sadaam had no connections to Al-Queda of consequence means that we should have never gone in the first place.

  • As for your 'sissy' comment, this is the real world, not the grade school playground. Foreign policy and real world problems are too complicated to be reasoned with a child's arguments.

  • ya. peace is for suckers. let's go make everyone hate america- DONE!

  • Six months before the job is done? Are you friggin serious? Well, it's been five months. You think the war will be over and the troops back home by next month?

  • You are so right-on about liberals. I recall Sen. Kennedy actually introducing a bill to take away the soldiers guns and ammo and replacing them with flashlights and tracts.

As I recall the republicans and the president voted down a bill that would provide for more down time for the soldiers and a 5% pay increase. Bush thought it was too much and instead gave the soldiers 3%. Republicans sure do love their soldiers.

  • Your absolutely right. Republicans are in bed with the military government contractors and make the big bucks off fool hearty interventionism.

  • Ya, why don't we go kill everyone? ISn't that the American thing to do? the christian thing to do? oh, it's not? You're a traitor!

  • ....yeah... air support is really making us a lot of fans in the world... god... I don't know how you retards manage to win so many elections... sorry, I didn't want to insult retards by comparing them to you.

  • Actually, if it was up to the liberals the troops wouldn't be over there to begin with in this war of lies, which was started because Bush, Cheney, and their corporate thugs weren't satisfied with the billions they already had.

  • I don't recall saying anyone saying Saddam was a nice guy. He was an evil, ruthless tyrant. But wait, so is Kim Jong Il of North Korea and Fidel Castro of Cuba, yet Bush didn't go after them? Why not? Could it be because those dictators don't have a massive supply of oil? Or because Bush has no personal vendetta against them?

  • Yeah, when I think freedom, I think a massive increase in car bombs. It's okay. Just keep telling yourself the war is necessary if it makes you feel better. Keep telling yourself it's not just about corporate profit. Keep telling yourself it's about freedom and defending America. I can't blame you. It's depressing when you think about the real reasons. I can see why you would want to stay in denial.

  • Your absolutely right johnsocal23. Saddam, a secular dictator, was powerful and used that power to stamp out any threat to his power especially any terrorist groups. And you're right that there are dozens of dictators oppressing their people. However, its not the obligation of the US to correct all those problems. And answer this, when was the last time a US military intervention resulted in a stable pluralist democracy? You'll be thinking a long time.

  • Saddam? UNLIMITED POWER? you can't be serious. there's NO WAY you're serious.

  • No you and the liberals are correct: Saddam was a NICE GUY. We were just picking on him for no reason. LOL. *rolls eyes*

  • wtf? WTF? DID YOU EVEN READ MY COMMENT YOU DOUCHE?

  • Please don't feed the troll.

  • As much as it pains me to use this phrase, you got owned by 'CrazyRightWingNut'...You could have at least had the decency to admit it, or to not reply, instead of giving him this vague, disdainful crap.

  • It's not America's Job to kill people because we don't like their leaders! Imagine if some country more powerful than us came here, and decided they would depose our president because they didn't like democracy and wanted to institute some foreign form of government! Would that make sense to you? Would that seem right, fair or just? What we did was WRONG! WE WERE THE BAD GUYS! And it's time to take the bad guys out of power. It's too bad we can't put them all in jail.

  • He didn't say unlimited power, he just said enough power to keep everyone in line. Saddam's Death Squads were very powerful and his regime was Very strong, the USA taught him a Lot (directly taught him, especially during Iran/Iraq war) about how to hold onto power.

  • Yeah... Saddam was so powerful! Unlimited power! BOO! SCARY... dude... I don't know what they teach in those schools in the red states... but it's clearly not common sense, if he was so powerful how come it only took us like a month to take him down? Saddam was a joke, he had no power, the war was completely unnecessary. Especially since we've spent more money fighting the war than it would have cost to develop viable alternative energy, it was a complete waste of lives and money.

  • Nobody said Saddam was good, but that doesn't matter. America is not the world government, we can't just go out there and invade countries we don't like. We can't kill innocent people because we don't like their political philosophy. Iraq was no threat to us, they never were. They were just a poor middle eastern state surrounded on all sides by UN forces and a massive UN air umbrella. We wasted our soldiers and money on this disaster.

  • Excellent point. But what about the people who were suffering? Don't we have some obligation as human beings to help others when we are able to? Where does it become a matter of humanitarianism and not egoism? I was there, I saw people who were happy we were there. What about those people? When I wish we would end this, I remember those people and wonder if maybe it wasn't a mistake. But we ended up trading one of theirs for one of ours. Was that worth it? No. Still torn about it...

  • Even if action seemed like a good idea:

    1. it shouldn't have been the US alone doing it.

    2. It should have been done with more forces on the ground from the beginning, not with the measly army that the previous administration decided to send. It was careless planning and a failure to understand the guerrilla nature of the conflict that cost the most lives for both sides.

But ultimately, I don't think it was necessary or smart, all we achieved was turn Iran into a regional power with no rival.

  • President Bill Clinton decided to distract people from his scandals and started fighting Yugoslavia. Kosovo for Serbia is the same as Philadelphia for the US. Arabs captured the land of Kurds, Kurdistan in 7th century. Russians captured Chechnya in 19th century. Liberals gave a part of Czechoslovakia to Hitler in the late of 1930's and Kosovo to terrorists in our days. Hitler also tried to take Kosovo from Serbia and to make "Big Albania."

  • STOP TRYING TO BLAME LIBERALS FOR EVERYTHING.

At this point if a Republican tells me that something is the fault of space aliens I am going to give it more weight than if they blame liberals. You cant use the same scapegoat twice.

  • I agree as the only liberal in my group of friends I seem to get blamed for everything that goes wrong. God help me if the sky falls. Oh wait not God I don't Believe in him right? ;)

  • Specifically liberals are to blame since its libtards have already wasted extorted tax dollars on other socialist programs...

  • Do you have proof to back up that statement, or are you just going to ignore me like most Conservatives do.

  • He,he,he,he,he

  • If we stuck to the Constitution as written, we would have: no federal meddling in our schools; no Federal Reserve; no U. S. membership in the U.N.; no gun control; and no foreign aid. We would have no welfare for big corporations,No American troops in 100 foreign countries; no Nafta, GATT, or "fast-track"; no arrogant federal judges usurping states rights; no attacks on private property; and no income tax.

VOTE FOR DR.RON PAUL 2008! LETS TAKE BACK AMERICA!

  • This is an Army issue. The Army priorities are not in their facilities, especially for one that's closing. Go to any Army base and you'll find if it's not new, it's most likely not very dazzling. Conversely, their war machinery is very well maintained, that's their priority because that does saves soldiers lives. So, bottomline, it's not about Iraq, or liberals or even the Bush Admin. It's actually about how the Army spends their budget.

  • What the hell are you talking about? Maher is talking out of his ass again, as usual. Walter Reed is a government run hospital, and always has been. Government-run health care is second rate to private health care, and always has been, because the government would rather divert money to pork projects like new useless highways in the sticks than keep you healthy.

  • I like pie.

  • I like pie too

  • That's quite a coincedence! What kind's your favorite?

  • That's a hard question. HHMMmmmm...cherry.

Or apple! Either way it's better than cake :)

  • Hellyeah it's better than cake. And if you're a ninja, that would be cataclysmicly coincidental. 0.0

  • No, but my roommate is! Actually he just thinks he is, as I am much more ninja than him anyway. He even has a samauri sword and two wooden practice swords. So, I guess I'm ninja. And I can break stuff up and pack it into a glass thing before you can manage a good arm fart. And that's a ninja arm fart! LOL

  • Yeah, but can you backflip while reading the art of war and making a delicious cup of tea from china?

  • No, but I can cartwheel while singing "there once was a man from mantuckket", and shortly thereafter I fall down and break stuff, then say "DOH! Plus I like chicken pizza

  • AH! That's nothing. I can sing the entire Dutch national anthem while gagged and blindfolded while dicing 500 tomatoes and fighting the Iraq war. And winning.

  • Please...I can melt stell with my balls whilst putting a harley together wearing tight blue jeans also while blind, while eating four cheddar cheese logs and shit out god. Can you do that?

  • And thensome; I once flew to Mars unassisted, while explaining the meaning of life to a person with an IQ of 20. While doing that, I rebuilt the WTC singlehandedly and convinced Bill O'reilly that he's a douche. This was only eclipsed by my glorious success in bringing peace to all the world with only a phone.

    oO

  • Well I once assisted a man in going to mars, unknown to him, convinced a person with an iq of 20 to agree with someone about the meaning of life, I destroyed the wtc singlehandedly right after that, and turned bill O'reilly into a baby eating satan worshiper. Shortly thereafter, I created the peacephone, while drifting a ford escort around a telephone pole connected to the car via a rope, with bush standing in the middle saying "god will save me for the wmds!",steering with my dick ><

  • oO .....lost for words

  • Was that too much?

  • Just enough. But you know, ninjas don't brag about their abillities. It was a test I subjected you to. You passed because of the fact that you said so much, you confused your enemy. Welcome to the brotherhood.

  • Sweet. Good thing, it's my birthday. No better time to be anointed into the brotherhood.

  • Well, have fun, but remember... with great power comes great responsibility.

    Now you only have to change your name. Something like;

    ninjawizzardmonkeymaster, or ninja-applepie

  • I noticed that everyone has stopped commenting on this video. I wonder why? This is some great debating, you people should get involved!

How about sepulninja420? Or pipe ninja. Or NINJABREADMAN420?

  • They're afraid of ninjas, that's it.

btw - only you can choose your username that will show you the path to enlightenment.

  • Well, dude, it's been fun making extremist imaginative confusing comments with you, it proves that there are more people like me out there!

  • Rock on, my ninja brother. rock on.

  • I think it's kind of a disservice to Maher to call his show "comedy".

  • Calling it a "comedy" is a misnomer. More aptly it's a show of "political satire" but then again, I suppose that's debatable too...

  • "Can Fox News neocon Blame Walter Reed Scandal on Liberals?"

    Nope, because liberals are perfect.

  • Draft!

  • a gov. monopoly and a gov. subsidized "private" company are both bad for a free market economy and its consumers. A private company helped by the gov is no longer private.

  • I think that Brooks was the most on the ball. I'm a Democrat who hates the Iraq war, but the claim that there is a strain to keep these injured troops in uniform just doesn't make sense. Most of them were too injured to serve in the armed services to begin with - they couldn't be redeployed, so what use would the army get from keeping them in uniform?

  • Guess who is the CEO of that company that won the contract to privatize the care at waletr Reed?? Dan Qualye and a TON of ex conservative congressmen. LOOK IT UP!

  • A similar thing is happening to British soldiers' living quarters, the Ministry of Defense privatized the living quarters out and as a result they had damp, mildew and no heating. It's a scandal and instead of trying to solve the problem they're playing the blame game. It's pathetic.

  • WOW. Fox News can turn the truth upside-down and keep getting away with it. It was disgusting how the Administration scapegoated a few commanders when it was the Administration that, from the beginning, has not adequately funded the troops, including equipment, veteran care, and trying to reduce combat pay. Talk about "supporting the troops." And if anyone talks about bringing them home and finding a diplomatic solution, they aren't "supporting the troops."

  • LOL...one man's opinion depicts an entire stations objectivism?

  • did u die lv!?

  • yigit,

Still here. Ive been busy with a bunch of stuff including gathering material for an upcoming video. And, I just uploaded a vid Ive been working on since earlier this month

    Thx 4 caring :-)

  • Very nicely done, Liberal Viewer! Great commentary.

  • Nice interesting post! But, have you seen what happens if you put diamonds in a blender? Check it out blend.lostfrog 'dot' com

  • Soldiers come back from Iraq to get treatment, it gets delayed, and when a soldier does get done with the treatment, he is offered 10% disability, and they tell you to go to the VA will give you more.If you fight it, they keep you longer away from your family. Eventually soldiers take the 10% just so they can go home, they say its all PRE EXISTING, Rude doctors, over worked staff, and doctors calling us LIARS.

  • see, iraq for sale, and terrorstorm. also see america, freedom to fascism

  • I am not going to 'see' anything called IRAQ FOR SALE, TERRORSTORM or AMERICA FREEDOM TO FASCISM...sounds a little like LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL DISORDER but on the flip side...sorry JABULON

  • Totally the Neocons fault.

    See :

    Blackwater: Shadow Army

on You Tube and find out that there are really 250,000 troops in Iraq. Half of them are mercenarys and that they don't even report their deaths as troop deaths. The Neocons are LIARS !

  • Hey SUPER what's a Neo Con?

    thanks!

  • Excellent work. So glad you are back!

  • LV: Please DO tell us what went on.

Not only did we MISS you,

    but

we couldn't even know whether our notes to you were ever delivered... HIGH price for all of us to pay....

Shouldn't the bozos who censored you apologize ALSO to all of us?

[Not holding my breath, but I'd be happy to hear anyone responsible tell me why I was deprived of your voice.]

  • it reminds me of va hospitals during viet nam warehousing the vets in the back wards

  • Thank you. It DOESN'T STOP.

  • For the most part wouldn't one have to put effort to make a less accurate news cast then fox? Really they do seem to go out of there way to show the republican side. Despite their clam to being fair and balance. Fox news does defend the republican side to an extreme.

  • 3wks ago I posted a few comments about the 'scandal' at W.R. and the ties to Halliburton, KBR and IAP which hints to the NeoCon objectives. They were on an Oberman video and now are gone. Am I getting paranoid or do these video+responses have time limits or something? I still can't find it. Is this blatant censorship? The info I got was all online. The Generals memo, the Privatization Bill A-76, the memo from congress. Most from gov sites. I do believe its a little too late to back track.

  • The owners of the Vids can remove posts

  • Down load the vid then Re-post it with your comments.

  • 8) Capturing saddam came at a cost well over 3100 lives alone. And the sad thing is... capturing him does little. That's quite a well known fact.

    9) Placed inspectore in iran and korea. and now what? If they were useful america could shut up about both of them.

    10) 1 sucess with 9 failures is as good as failing all.

  • 5) The technology gap is larger now than ever. Reducing casualties even further.

    6) Republicans didn't do better than democrats on the economy standpoint.

    7) Now america is viewed by 27 diff. countries as...

    - 51% bad, 27% neutral, 22% good

Ranked 3rd as the country with poorest reputation. Below Iran and N. Korea

  • The American economy is the strongest in the world and growing faster than that of any other major industrialized country. It grew at an annual rate of 5.3 percent in the first quarter -- the fastest growth in 2 1/2 years. It has added more than 5.3 million jobs since the summer of 2003, and employment is near an all-time high. The unemployment rate (4.6 percent) is well below the average for each of the past four decades.

  • Yes, we should keep sending our boys to die in Iraq for cheaper oil and better economy.

  • I don't know where you're from but oil isn't cheaper now than it was before the war. The cost of war is always high, as is the cost of freedom and security. Yet the cost of losing is even higher.

  • dddouce:

    your a very narrow person

    1) What made you think Republicans could do better

    2) What is the cause for fighting. I am sorry but to point out that democrats have fought for reason and if they fail THEY ADMIT. Rublicans? The fought for no good reason and fail but DON"T ADMIT.

    3) Crushing talibans etc. came at a cost of casualties too.

    4) Modern day warfare and medical treatment greatly reduces casualty. (over 90% for your info)

  • Welcome back, LV. Let's keep the DS/CR praise to a minimum and focus on real issues like this video does.

  • Bush is cetainly to blame. 'Twas Bush and the GOP congress who, in 2003, made DEEP cuts into the vet benefits...including HOSPITALS AND HEALTHCARE. GREAT TO HAVE YOU BACK, LV!!!!

  • What do vet benefits have to do with it? Walter Reed is an Army hospital, not a veterans administration hospital. I'm sure most republicans would be happy to compare military budgets with most democrats any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

  • EXACTLY! it "twas" indeed!

  • Alright. You're back.

  • The Democrats wars

FDR - World War II - 4 years, 450,000 American lives

    Truman - Korea - 3 years, 55,000 American lives

    Kennedy & Johnson - Vietnam - 10-13 years, 58,000 American lives.

    Clinton - Bosnia

Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors

in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured Sadaam

Hussein, who slaughtered more than 800,000 of his own people.

5 years, around 3100 American lives.

  • So WWII was a "Democrats" war, huh? I guess most Repubs were against fighting Hitler prior to Pearl Harbor, so I'll give you that. The last 5-6 yrs of Vietnam happened under Nixon/Ford. And the Taliban haven't been "crushed"-they're growing stronger every day. Iraq was a US ally during most of Saddam's atrocities. Remember Rumsfeld flying to Bagdad to shake his hand? And remember Bush saying bin Laden "can run but he can't hide"? Guess he was wrong about that too.

  • "Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."

    - Nancy Pelosi Dec. 16, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." - President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

  • And they're just as wrong as President Bush. I'm a liberal who doesn't believe in over glorifying democrats because for the most part, they don't stand for peace.

  • PERFECT EXAMPLE!! Cite the issue and address it. This was done in a successfully peacfull manor. No bombs or loss of lives. All FBI, CIA, INS and many other post 1999 reports indicate Sadam is/was not a threat. (With the exception of the manufactured information from the Bush administration.)

  • I've figured out what's wrong with liberals. They just aren't able to tell the difference between evil dictators like Hitler, Stalin or Hussein using military force to conquer and enslave nations and their people, and the USA using military force to liberate and democratize them. It's sort of like being colorblind, only instead of not being able to see different colors they can't discern different shades of morality. Hopefully one day science will develop a cure for morality blindness.

  • That is such an empty statement. Where did Hussein get the military weaponry to kill his people? The US helped Iraq get many of the weapons it had during the 80s. If you read your history you will realize that Republicans and Democratswe install more dictators than we remove.

  • thucy2, I agree our system is flawed and needs change. However, bc europeans have generally longer life expectancies and lower infant mortalities doesn't mean their healthcare systems are inherently better. there are no randomized double blind experiments that demonstrate your claims, and the differences could just as easily be attributed to an overall healthier lifestyle.

  • dhowe, it's true that it's difficult to draw one to one correlations between better health outcomes and health care financing (altho this with NO health insurance gen. do worse). However, the fact remains that though we have the most expensive system per capita, we lag behind much of the rest of the indus. world in all these various ways. So to make the argument, as conservs do, that public funded HC is inherently bad is utterly wrong. But I agree, it's a complex mix, including life style.

  • Damn Liberals are ruining America !

  • the government doling out no bid contracts is not capitalism and it will never work, it's evident in walter reed and in iraq. but that's not the fault of business, single payer healthcare won't work for the same reason. there is no competition. healthcare needs reform, and americans need to take responsibility for their health and their health care

  • "Single payer" seems to work in the rest of the industrialized world. The US pays the most money per capita on health care by far, but lags behind in all sorts of ways: infant mortality, life expectancy, surgical outcomes, etc. Plus we have millions completely uninsured, and endless bureacracy (HMOs, etc.) How come the Germans, Finns, Swedes, Swiss, Danes, etc. can do it, but we can't?

  • To answer your freakin' questions: Germany Population - 82 million(July 2006 est.), Finland 5.2 million, Sweden 9 million, Switzerland 7 million, and Denmark 4.5 million The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA has 301 million people...and oh yeah, 30 or so million ILLEGAL folks here. You can't compare countries the size of Detroit to a land mass the size of the United States...And we don't LAG behind in infant, life or surgical. We may not be #1 but then again YOU SHOULD LIKE THAT!

  • jfuci you have to pay attention. My comments on health care were directed to dhowe2909. Scroll down the thread before you comment (not just the last three posts) and you'll see. My questions to you are in direct response to YOUR posts, so scroll down and try again.

  • As far as your comments on health care, what difference does size make? So smaller countries are inherently healthier? I guess East Timor ought to be near the top then? According to UNICEF 2006 the US ranked #20 in child health (and poverty), according to the NYT World Almanac Japan, Sweden, Australia, Canada, Germany, France all had lower infant mortality rates. So where does your data come from?

  • As for Americans "taking responsibility," I have friends with multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy. How are they "responsible" for these problems? And if you're in a car crash, you're supposed to shop for an ER? Health care, like defense and highways, won't fit into the capitalist paradigm. No one says that individuals should be "responsible" for their own air force or highways. We accept government funding and control of these, and some day we'll do the same for health care.

  • I'm so overwhelmed by how bad things are going in this country ... I just want a different set of people running things.

  • restart the draft!!! get those lazy college kids to stand up!

  • oldhacks,

FYI, If u follow the link in the video description to the episode of PBS's News Hour with Jim Lehrer, you'll also see Mark Shields say:

"you go to any college campus -- and I challenge you, next time you ask, 'Who here's for all-volunteer service?' All the hands go up. 'Who's going to volunteer?' No hands go up."

    Thx 4 comment :-)

  • Well noted! Jon STewart has opined that we can have a REAL anti-war movement as soon as we restore the draft.

I was there in the 60s. I KNOW that he's right.

Does that mean that I want a draft? 500 characters cannot suffice....

  • so happy that your back, missed your videos!!!

  • welcome back.

  • Good video and welcome back.

  • We are so accomplished at "night is day; day is night" spinning that we've confused ourselves beyond common sense. Blaming Walter Reed's shortcomings on "liberal health care" is so patently foolish that it defies all logic. Good job on this vid.

  • Great video...welcome back!

  • Welcome back liberal viewer! Great video post, and thanks for featuring Mark Shields, one of the saner voices on American TV.

  • Liberal or conservative, it doesn't really matter! the fact is our government is failing us on both sides! Pointing fingers at political parties is a waste of time. Although holding individuals accountable is important. I strongly agree with you that fox news is a joke, but haven't all major media outlets become bias.

  • i'm actually beginning to agree with your view; i don't see that much difference between the democrats or repubs -- the're both corporate-owned

  • I agree isaachaze1. The only way to restore the validity of our politicians is through government fund campaigns. It's a small price to pay for real democracy. (sorry I know this is off topic)

  • I got it! The reason why tuition expenses are way up is because "they" (the U.S. Govt.) don't want kids going to college? "They" want them to enlist. Wicked awesome idea!

  • Fox news could blame anything on anybody. They are basically state-run news similar to the soviet TV in the 1980's.

  • Nice try LV...I'm sure you've convinced other ACLU attorneys of your position. They all agree with you.

I feel all warm and fuzzy.

    Alien Cowboy

  • jfuci,

U never really addressed MY position which is that the scandal is a symptom of the stresses put on the military by Bush's bad policy in Iraq.

Instead, u claimed I started assuming it was Liberal v Conservative. Sorry, that was Fred Barnes prob not mine

U also ad hominem attack former US Marine Mark Shields w/o addressing the substance of his arg. See link in vid descrip

Do you have any facts 2 add 2 your labeling & namecalling?

    Thx 4 comments :-)

  • You start with an assumption - bad.

Government screw ups are neither Liberal nor Conservative...c'mon you are smarter than that.

Mark Sheilds is SOOOOO radically liberal that NO ONE can take what he says seriously...not enough troops is a total, total lie...a lie of the left. Why would the left EVER admit that we have ENOUGH military to do anything? Answer: They wouldn't.

  • Liberal is a much misunderstood name.

  • That LIBERALS fault....

  • Werent you banned? Why?

    Welcome back

  • Glad you're back!

  • Americans are only going to do something about this until the draft arrives.

  • Hey youre back. SWEET. You do quality work.

  • Bad Bush policies no question. Fox news is joke.
