YouTube.com People , the Original Bruce Cockburn Video/Audio Stereo HIFIdelity is in 480progressive NOT your poor 240p Inadaquate mode, or else later in 2012 on this Webpage I will Upload the HD 720p Version, so stay tuned!!!!
God, I love Bruce. I've seen him only once in concert, but as soon as humanly possible, I'm going again. That night pretty much cemented the unflappable notion that I physically NEED to be a professional musician in my soul. It was amazing. If you haven't seen him live yet...you really must. It's relatively life-changing!
@BrokenSolitary I don't know where you live, but I saw him in boston last spring and will see him again in Newburyport Mass the 17 of sept. Ya, he is great live. He had a woma violin player in Boston.
Story behind the song? The version I heard is he was dining with a woman, possibly Aimee Mann and she asked what he had in his backpack, he said rope and other stuff for the end of the world. She laughed and said if it was the end of the world, she would only be drinking champagne with the one she loved.
I saw this tour in Providence. Bruce called it his "Folk Power Trio" He opened with a plugged instrumental an blew the roof off the place One of his great band configurations...
I've got the champagne chilling my love. If this is it, we'll have to enjoy it on the other side. The love I have for you is for all of eternity. It's the law in my heart.
@slingshot657 It was released in 99, so was after '96.....I remember hearing it for the first time when I had just moved into a little town just south of the Canadian border in preparation for Y2K....it was the first thing I heard on the local radio station as I was unpacking, Sept '99......one of my favorites!
When I first listened to this song I thought he sang, ¨Unless it was SHAGGIN´with you! Especially with his cute smirk... then I checked the lyrics! I´ve been a fan since the early 80´s. He´s a great musician and makes my spirit fly... thank you Bruce!!!

Seen Cockburn live at least 10 times. He makes one guitar sound like two. A lyrical and musicial genius. Relevant for the times. No one does it better...he challenges my perspectives
@ABlandino Been playing his music since I was 8, or trying to anyways. 10 years of playing later and his genius still eludes me, and most likely shall for some time.
Finally, I now know the title to this song! Remember searching throughout his entire catalogue a while back with only a few of the words of the chorus in mind and, god damn it (!), came up short-handed. Great tune, live or recorded!
Yup. I had to do a double take. How the hell did Bruce get on ? I bet Paul is a fan and then there is the obvious Canuck connection. I wish they'd have him back. Call Me Rose could be a hit if he got that kind of exposure. Brought me near to tears when I saw it that night. Magic.
