Yeah, I thought it was a pretty good compromise. Long gone though, engine bay is empty now but I have a 6.2L L92 sitting next to it waiting for me to drop it in.
good job finally somebody didnt over cam their engine I like it good slight chop in the idle and he'll blow your doors because the other guys just got to much cam nicley done
ok this is my last question and ill leave u alone. lol if u could do it all over again would u reinstall that cam again.? i've got a 355 ci chevy in a el camino and i've got to keep it smog legal and i've heard that the 268he is a smog legal cam. and im also looking for some decent power over my 204/214 @442/443 lift crane cam im running now. what is ur thoughts on this?
@killingthemslowly79 Yeah, I think so. It sounded pretty good and was certainly streetable. Might have gone with a bit higher stall though. Now that I have my 383 in I'm pulling it to drop in an LQ9, which if I were to do it all over (which I am I guess) I should have done in the first place.
I think the XE version of this cam might be worth looking at as well if you want a bit more sound without going crazy.
Yes. That's it. I thought it sounded pretty good and ran well enough for a driver but that whole engine has been gone since the end of last year. Tomorrow the 383 and 3.73 posi will be finished and hopefully I can get a video of that as well.
Did use tall valve covers though for the roller rockers. Have them locked with Crane cool nuts (99768-16).
My low end is better, but I got an intake supposedly designed for off-idle power rather than upper-RPM use, though I do have a pretty tall gear since I do a fair bit of highway driving with it. In hindsight, I think I might have gone with the XE268, just because it sounds a tiny bit better. This is a daily driver and not a race car so that is ultimately what it's about for me.
Hey how does the car run in the low end with that cam and the vortec heads? I just picked up my short block and im planning almost your exact build for my 84 camaro. Are you using the ls1 or ls6 beehive springs? did you have to get the head machine for those specifically? i know you have to get them machined for higher lift but was just wondering
As far as I know the beehives (#26918-16) are for the ls1 and ls6 are the same thing more or less, the difference being stiffness. As for machining heads, the whole reason for using the expensive beehive springs is so that you don't have to do any machining. You only have to machine the heads if you want to use standard springs.

did u run a higher stall converter with that cam when u had or was it a stock stall
killingthemslowly79 1 year ago
@killingthemslowly79 It was higher, something like 2600 or so.
