@farranspointon That's quite a gig indeed. I was about that age when I was playing the violin. That was cool that you got free icecream for the performances. I've been known to perform for food at one time or another.
I'll certainly check out Lost Villages Historical Society. Sorry to hear about the flooding. I'm a Camile survivor my self.
That was beautiful. I never heard it played like this before. My mother was everything to me. I would give anything to have her back again. I mean that sincerely. I have lovely old pictures of her framed on my wall. This song meant a lot to both of us and I played it on the piano and sang it many times.. Your version was beautifully played. Thanks for honoring my mother.
Wow... wonderful! You broke my heart thinking of my mom long gone whom I miss ... we always sang that song to her on Mother's Day. Such a beautiful version. She would have loved it! Thank You.
It seems all theremins have a slightly different sound. I've heard some that sound like cat meowing, some that sound like spooky ghosts, some sound like a soprano or sopranino voice, and some, like this one, reminds me of a violin or viola, and cello in its lower register.
Wow, wonderful song, wonderfully played, and I really enjoyed it, but, if I may say so, maybe you should consider smiling every once in a while? I mean, the music is absolutely marvelous and you sound very professional, but you look kinda like a man awaiting a tax audit!
LOL, I am working on adding facial expression to my stage presense. but I'm legally blind, and never was very good at SP facial expressions. To make matters worse, the theremin is the one instrument which requires concentration for balance, arm, hand, and finger positions, listenning, breathing (yes, it affects intonation), and a host of other perameters. It's like multitasking on a grand scale, and for some reason smiling is, for the moment, the one task that distracts me. I'm working on it. ;)
This was featured on Neotarama today, I really enjoyed it. My wife had never seen a theremin, or the technique for playing it, and she was quite surprised.
Very touching performance, thanks for posting it.
@farranspointon I'll check out that song. Thanks. :)

Yes, different theremin makes have different tonal charactors. Some even have multiple settins to select from.
I've considered doing a video which demonstrates these differences.

Hello, thanks for the compliment. What a nice way to be introduced to the theremin for the first time.

Hi, the thereimin is the easiest in the world to play, but it's "THE" most difficult in the world to play "WELL".
This is a classic I used to sing in a barbershop chorus and qurtet.
Thank you both for your comments.
