  • Brava!

  • So impressive!

  • Great choice of tunes for this instrument and your abilities. Sound great ! Only someone with great taste in music would even know about this tune !

  • @videocanone thanks so much!

  • Play knots next.

  • Fuckin hell...how can 2 so called Humans dislike this!!?....WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU??

  • Rob...GREAT choice from Gentle Giant ! :-)

In a Glass house was always one of my favorites.

Caught you on NPR tonight... "One Cloud" ! ...GLAD to meet you (!)

Will be visiting East West Records in Orlando this week ... I'll have Hannah order some copies of your new release !

Have you considered Funny Ways by GG - your arrangement could be SAAAWeeet

    thanks for sharing

(must check out your interpretation of Mr. Hackett's "The sleeping Sea")

  • @BillyJoeVegas sorry, very late replying to you but just wanted to thank you for the kind words!

  • Great arrangement and playing!

  • Are you serious Rob? Gentle Giant on the stick?WOW!!!!I guess you are my friend.

that was brilliant, I loved every second~

    Amy

  • Such a chill song...

  • I like this way better than the original! Great playing!

  • Very nice you have a great sound which is hard on a youtube video you must be mind blowing live.

  • Attack it with a little of Shulman's curled lip on the mic and you have this sucker nailed. Give it a little distortion like Minnear's electric piano too.

    ***** stars and more, man!

  • bin begeistert....gentle giant so zu interpretieren...einfach klasse

  • damnnn now this is awesome!

  • Woooooooooow! Amazing! Saw it again after one whole year and still found it to be beautiful.

  • Great playing !!! I´m a big fan of GG...and you made this briljante

  • very nice! The sound of the stick and your playing captures the spirit of the piece really well :-)

  • @duncanparsons I agree! Very beautiful.

  • VERY nice!!!

  • That was extremely beautiful!

And Rob, you have excellent time!

  • When Emmit designed the stick, he designed a truly wonderful instrument...you play it well !

  • Good job boy!

  • beautiful

  • awesome.......wow

  • Francis Dunnery (now solo / formerly of "It Bites") plays a thing he invented called a TapBoard. His best work with it was 'Reprise' but also has a 'Charlie' track. FYI. Check it out. Perhaps can commission you to do a cover.

  • great rendition!

    long live the Gentle Giant.!!

  • Beautiful!!!

  • I thought I was alone in thinking this was the best song from In a Glass House, but the tenderness and affection you give the song here shows I must not have been. Fabulous.

  • I wish I had same finger coordination... amazing music )))

  • I try not to get redundant with a thousand comments about the same artist. I can NOT stop myself from telling you how good that made me feel. An excellent instrumentalist, and a MOST excellent song/band to cover. Wonderful, you have captured my favorite bands and some of the best representatives of thier music. Please continue to entertain us, as I'm sure there's many people who still have not heard you play.

  • So we got Amsterdam and Nieuwegein - already two concerts in The Netherlands!

  • We Do? could you set me up with some info on that? this sounds so amazing, sure would like to see this live.

  • I really enjoy your playing, keep it up.

  • it sounds like a bass and a Guitar!! man you are like One Man Army !!! you sir have wonderfull music taste. if you do anything more in the future please share it with the people.. tnx for this one

  • Congratulations for winning at life! Thanks for posting this!

  • Nice melody. Listen to your music a lot. Maybe you could come and play in Nieuwegein, Holland some time???

    Greetzzzzzzzz from The Netherlands

  • beautiful!

  • You understand the music and that instrument of yours is amazing. You could easily perform here ... in Amsterdam.

  • Awsome but what instrament is that. it it a bass buti can see the body

  • That's a chapman stick

  • Rob Marino Kicks ASS

  • great!

  • This has nothing to do with Shin-Chan, but I do happen to love Gentle Giant.

  • I've favorited this. It's a looovly choice of material, and a smart arrangement gracefully performed.

  • hey rob:

your tone and vibrato are perfect for the gentle giant sound. "so sincere" from the power and the glory comes to mind.

wonderful sound creation by you. the dedication is heard in every note you play. play on in good health.

    peace,

    rich

  • Te felicito haces una gran musica.Tienes un muy buen gusto con la eleccion de los temas.Son clasicos modernos.

  • what a wonderfull instrument i wish i could have one.. who knows =]

  • great cover of another gem by a timeless band.

  • Amazing to see young musicians intersted in Kate Bush and Gentle Giant. I guess the critics who hated prog rock in the 70's are being proven wrong with time. As said idiotic critics are entered into the ground, this music lives on. And that, is beautiful!

  • I still cannot get my head wrapped around the Chapman Stick. I attempted to play one years ago - FORGET IT! It requires entirely too much split-brain activity, much like mastering a piano keyboard. Congrats to you, Rob, for mastering the Stick, for your excellent taste in music, and for the exquisite subtlety in your musical approach and use of technique - BRAVISSIMO!

  • Walk softly and carry a big Stick. Good skills, son!

  • Wow!

    wow, wow!

I know this song very well, but never realised how wonderful and complex it is,

    thanks, great!

  • How it possible to play on thatO.OAnd yeah great love GG=)

  • man, if you did some prog, it would be great if you made a cover of tarkus!

  • Anybody who knows about gentle giant has a good taste in music. Great Job!

  • Brilliant musicianship; thankyou for sharing your skills, & good taste in music!

    Keep it up mate!

  • This instrument is fucking sick ^^ ...

  • Thanks man.

  • Excellent arrangement of a wonderful song!

  • This is truly amazing, I just love the sound. What a song for an introduction!

  • 100% absolutely STICK!!!!!!

  • 100% absolutely sick!

  • you are out of control, my friend. Wow.

  • just awesome man

  • all praise has been worded, what can i say? hearing you play makes me curious about that stick, had never heard it before. thanks very much for chosing this tune of the incredible gg!

  • Really excellent guy!

  • Holy Freekin Crap !!! Man great, Love Kerry M.'s stuff.

    Love this

  • yeah, i like it~~~!!!!!

  • just perfect.

  • Sweet sounds for the soul.

  • You play great Rob-I wish I had put in as much time to get that good, but I sadly had to sell mine which was one of the early models 10-string serial number 1042 made out of Bazilian Ironwood. Your Grand Stick sounds terrific, what are they making them out of these days? I even saw an acoustic stick on here!Wow have things changed. Can I make a request?I would enjoy something relatively simple like Penny Lane by the Beatles with all the parts including the piccolo trumpet solo if it is possible.

  • The website says they can be made from Indonesian Rosewood, Brazilian Tarara, South American Mahogany, and African Paduak

  • Easy on the ears, indeed

  • Hey Rob, just to say i love the way you play!

I was stoked to see you cover a Gentle Giant tune.......their music brings back great memories.....

I'd love to see you Jam with Stanley Jordon or someone like that!

thanx for the great music..........beautiful stuff

    cumberland jimmy!

  • I like the way you rearrange thoses great classics from the seventies. You make an evolution both to stick playing and progressive rock classics, using old stuff to make your own then very contemporary music out of it... Congrats, I really admire what you do!

  • congratulation. Gentle giant is the best band of progressive rock in my opinion. And this music is beatiful . Your version is very good too.

  • Oh, no! Youtube took it down! :'(

    Upload it again, please!

  • Hi... the video still shows up for me, maybe it was a temporary problem?

  • Perhaps. But I still can't watch it. Good thing you have it on your site, where I heard it. Simply Superb! However, the bass line is a bit different. But still... Great playing! It must be reeeeally difficult.

  • love this song, you did an amazing job on it!

now, can you do the opening to On Reflection? =P

  • Now THAT was amazing.

Keep it up Rob! That captured the spirit of the original just about perfectly. Color me impressed.

  • Very good play. Unfortunately, the Chapman stick is "out of fashion" in today's rock music.

  • Psha! Rock Stick for the win!

  • Thank you! I remember it well and an excellent version of it too.

  • Holy shit. Very good! :D

  • That looks really easy to play - NOT! Really great with the Giant flavour for sure.

  • this is really brilliant what you are doing there - bravo!

  • On which album of GG is "A Reunion"? Never met the original version...

  • In A Glass House

  • Great job, Rob!

Have you heard of Steve Hahn? If not, check him out. He's done a handful of GG songs on Stick.

  • wow Rob, I'm a keyboard player and I love Stick. Wondeful!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that's incredible.

    my god.

  • Well done.

  • You've done well with this. Great choice.

  • Thumbs up!

  • Awesome. Great Playing!

I've loved Gentle Giant since I was 17..... 20 yrs!

    Nice to hear this!

  • That instrument looks extremely complicated to play and get used to. Nice stuff!

  • where's the other guy?

    just kidding - amazing!

  • Duh... checked your website again, realized I was looking at the wrong links. Found some of the "higher quality" I was looking for. :) Always listening...

  • Absolutely beautiful stuff, that instrument creates such wonderful tonality. Someday you should put up some recordings in a high(er) quality format meaning audio. Great job...

  • This is great :D

  • Yeah man! Great video :D

  • Damm! You Rock!

  • love it so much :)
