There's a difference between a Fascist and a National-Socialist. National-Socialism is a very specific set of racial and moral beliefs, many of which the original Italian Fascists were very uneasy about. Being a fan of VT, JD and anti-nazi I can say I like their covers. The switch of "they" for "we" was ingenious for several reasons:
i) JD were British, VT German, so it's appropriate.
ii) It juxtaposes the roles of the observer and the observed and how little difference there is because the song has no moral. It only describes soldier's life.
So take VT's advice and re-turn revolt into style instead of arguing over the internet like a bunch of menopausing women at the market.

NS had to wage war as a part of its politics, which based their consent on expansion and militarism, and that obviously upsetted the unstable power balance at the times, escalating into an unavoidable total war.
Hitler wasn't able to estimate the danger of a wide war since his mind was completely focused on his own dreams, thus leading a rich nation into destruction.

The wish for a strong nation and a compact community is understandable but social and economic reality is very complex, and if a nation e.g. closes up to immigrants and deletes social rights it will quickly fall back against innovating countries.

Being a fan of VT, JD and anti-nazi I can say I like their covers. The switch of "they" for "we" was ingenious for several reasons:
i) JD were British, VT German, so it's appropriate.
ii) It juxtaposes the roles of the observer and the observed and how little difference there is because the song has no moral. It only describes soldier's life.
So take VT's advice and re-turn revolt into style instead of arguing over the internet like a bunch of menopausing women at the market.

We also had Crass and the anarcho movement, but we were speaking of bands from Factory, 4AD, Mute and the post-punk scene and such. We could also see Sid Vicious and Siouxsie sporting a swastika on a couple of photos and Nick Cave also wore one during a concert in Berlin. However one must not take things out of context or loosely interpret things.

That can be interpreted in many different ways. Like that Ian was "into it" because it portrayed images and feelings that he could relate to in different ways, such as his inability to walk in line, the horrors and cruelty of war and camps that juxtaposed their animal behaviour in an "enlightened" modern world. There are many ways to be into NS, also that one has a fetish for Nazi paraphernalia, uniforms, symbols, but it doesn't mean one is politically aligned with them.

@gombie actually Mussolini wasn't NS, he invented fascism, which Hitler took as a basis for NS. Fascism wasn't actively racist in its first times but embraced the euro-centric view of "superior civilization". The regime became actively racist later, banning jews from public workplaces, eventually sending jews and others (e.g. slavic and gipsies) to nazi concentration camps.
This had also the ironic side effect of providing the US with some of the best scientist for the A-bomb project. Good work!

Theres an interview link on Von Thronstahl's wiki page, that discusses their beliefs in their music. I highly recommend it, as they are not Pro Nazi. They are a German band, BTW. I think the song though captures the feelings of that time though, that you see in this clip.
