  • Haven't a clue if this is satire or not? The only year I've considered not. Tired of the lesser of the evils. Watching Dr.Paul, not moving, I DO CARE. Watching mainstream & offbeat media (watching for truth in that). Trying for logic, philosophy, critical thinking. An 18mo child has changed lots for me. Idk yet, w/holding my vote is an option.

  • Better idea: Vote Ron Paul. The only anti-establishment candidate. Look at a video of him, it'll turn you into a believer better than anything I can say here.

  • I used to believe in the "don't vote" idea. I agree that all the politicians are corrupt and don't deal with real issues, but I've come to realize that not voting only makes it worse.

The best thing we should do is vote for any random political party. When politicians realize that all of us are voting, then they'll have to appeal to us in order to win against their competition. And then they'll have to deal with real issues like the war on drugs, corruption, etc. Think about it.

  • @pulsedrop you said it "all the politicians are corrupt and don't deal with real issues" therefore it will only make it worse. Don't encourage them. Maybe a few care to appeal to us on an individual level, but they disappear in the underlying banality of evil that the state is based on. We're part of that, so stop being a part of it. How did you come to realize that not voting only makes it worse? I could kinda agree unintellectually.

Voting depend on the assumption that they already "own" you.

  • @pulsedrop Granted the idea of 100% voter turnout, which party would actually do something about those issues? We only have two that are really in a position to gain any power, right? So, just as a hypothetical here, what if both parties did nothing but during an election cycle came out of the woodwork in support of doing something? Would they do something, or would they do nothing? Say they get ousted - would the next guy do something? The status quo is the problem.

  • right wing.

    left wing.

    same fucking bird.

  • Don't vote

  • The day I take advice from Will.I.Am is the day I saw off my foot and sell it to be more efficient.

  • Awesome remix!!!

  • If politicians are bank robbers, voters are the getaway drivers.

Follow George Carlin's lead and masturbate instead.

  • @StatelessRich I will borrow your quote, haha amazing.

  • @MaikUniversum Thanks, I borrowed it from Stefan Molyneux.

  • @StatelessRich o really? That's great :)

  • The only way to not waste your vote is to vote 3rd party, send a message that the lesser of two evils is still fucking evil and that you won't be a part of it.

  • DONT VOTE ,for anyone but Ron Paul !!

  • Vote Libertarian. The only other choices are liberals and socialists.

  • seriously Im not gonna vote, at least not at the Federal level because there campains are full of lies and they commit all kinds of crimes against humanity (invading the middle east and running pipelines from the Caspian Sea). I watched millions hope forchange and be given an illusion of economic reform only to find them selves heading toward a worse recession than the previous one. I've seen America's soldiersget surged into a war they were promissed freedom from. For these reasons I dont vote

  • I really doubt any of those actors really believed what they just told americans. Remember they are just actors. Aside from that, I don't vote... Why? Were given such a shitty group of used car salesmen to choose from !

  • i dont get it...

  • The "Get out the vote" campaign wouldn't have been pushed so strongly if the candidate who the celebrities endorsed had not been so popular. People who really care enough to understand the nations problems don't need to be encouraged to vote. All they're accomplishing with this ad is to effectively cancel out the votes of the thoughtful and conscientious with those of the knee jerk masses.

  • wow.....the government doesn't give a flip floppical about us!!!!

  • "None are so hopelessly enslaved as those who falsely believe they are free." - Goethe

Politics won't save you - the two "parties" are both out to take it all from you for themselves.

The best part of this vid was the chick taking her bra off - now that's meaningful!

  • Yup!

  • Dear Celebrities, Here is my analogy: America equals a fat guy trying to loose weight by choosing between McDonalds (Republicans) and TacoBell (Democrats). Oh sure there are other contenders out there like Burger King, Wendys, and Subway (Ron Paul's Rev.) The problem isn't where you eat albeit the main choices aren't even food. The problem is the system has to change (Fatty's gotta go for a jog or take kick boxing and hes gotta stop dining out) If you can't vote for a needed options don't.

  • Basically what their saying is vote for Obama or face the consequences of not voting for Dear Leader!!!

  • Comment removed

  • No one would dare invest money without a returned receipt or thorough knowledge of the recepient, so why vote without being owed those benefits?

Nobody can determine whether their vote reached their party of choice or if it was even accounted for yet we know when our money reached point B.

    Don't vote.

  • It doesn't matter who you vote for, as long as they get their mandate to rule you.

  • how bout instead of encouraging people to vote you encourage them to research who they're voting for, what good does it do to get a bunch of idiots to go out and vote for random candidates, which will probably end up making them feel good, as if they accomplished something worth while, and then you got all those celebrities acting all high and mighty like "i care about stuff, i vote im a good person", when in fact they're fuckin idiots just like everybody else, THAT COMMERCIAL WUZ ANNOYING!

  • "what good does it do to get a bunch of idiots to go out and vote for random candidates.." What good does it do to vote at all? Imagine a huge truck speeding towards you at one hundred miles an hour. Politics is two idiots standing in the road arguing over the truck's hood ornament.

  • i agree with your perception of politics, but i do beleive that voting can be a good thing, but not in america today, because like 98% of people in america dont care enough about this country to do whats necassary to make an educated vote, and because they dont do that you might as well tell every one to draw cards 8 and above for obama, 7 and below for mccain, its pointless, im not saying i do enough research btw, only thing i have ne knowledge on is the economy, that why i like ron paul

  • Ron Paul is an excellent candidate, but the last thing we need is a libertarian in office when the entire economy collapses. Obama is perfect. He's riding in with a mandate to "change", and everyone believes he will be able to correct our problems. They will devote all their energies and effort into this magical solution, and it will fail totally. It's a tough way to learn a lesson, but it should, hopefully, resonate with the general population. People will outgrow the fantasies in time.

  • you may be right about bad timing for a liberatarian, but on the other hand not taking so many taxes could balance out the lack of spending by the government, and i agree with you that its good that everybody beleives in obama, but people beleiving in him is due to emotion, nothing concrete, and his mandate for change? like you said, he'll try some stuff, i hope to god succeed (i got quite a bit in the market) but most likely fail miserably as u said, i dunno man, the shits depressing

  • Anthony Kiedis was in that!!!!!!!

  • excellent.

  • Good vid.

  • Smart

  • I already voted. I voted THIRD PARTY!

Awesome vid, and I understand the rational ("if they're not gonna listen to me, why encxouragge them?"), even if I don't agree with it.

  • ... Nevermind. I was thinking too literally.

    Nice reverse psychology ^_^;

  • Not even famous people telling me what to do in this video so I'm not going to vote.

  • As Bill Hicks says - "I think the puppet on the right shares my beliefs." "I think the puppet on the left is more to my liking." "Hey, wait a minute, there's one guy holding out both puppets!" "Shut up! Go back to bed, America. Your government is in control.

  • Every comment but yours should be deleted. Bill Hicks had quite a mind in him

  • I don't understand this video. Why should I not vote?

  • Dont Vote.....

    Sincere B.

  • Sarah Silverman is gonna lecture me on civic responsibility?

    I. Don't. Think. So.

Shut up, bitch. Go back to doing what you do best: not being funny...

  • Great vid. Rated it and favorit'ed it

  • It's not just great. It's fucking great.

    ReasonTV rules!!!

  • i like tv quite a bit muh self, but this commercial still annoys the shit out of me, because its fucking stupid, but ignorance is bliss so, congrats buddy, part of me envies you

  • It's fucking great. Remember, I am loving the ReasonTV version. Not the hippy liberal hollywood crap. They're not gonna fix any of the problems.

DON'T VOTE. IT ONLY ENCOURAGES THEM. Fucking great, I tell ya'.

  • your name is appropriate. i will add dumb ass before your name to make it perfect.

  • sorry dude but if you disagree with what i have to say then your a fucking idiot, but please explain yourself so i know why you feel that way, and how is my name appropriate? what did i say that wuz crazy or clownish?

  • lol!!!...why so serious?!

  • you are a silly fuckwit who doesnt even know he is a silly fuckwit. may the aids you receive be especially aidish, fuck your stupid face :)

  • ok, well i noticed you didnt explain why im a fuckwit, i wonder if its because you cant, and who the fuck talks about aids? cancer is whats in right now dumbass :D ps i also wonder if you know just how big a dumbass you are ;-)

  • you know i cant understand why people hate clowns, because i love you assholes. and excuse me, aids is the new cancer. look it up hoe.

  • you obviously dont watch south park you sad little homo, or else you'd know aids is what your grandma died of, now adays we die of cancer, and plz do me a favor and tell me why im a fuckwit, can you do that?

  • lol!!!

  • :)---I----<

  • could they find a better looking collection of famous people for this ad? i don't think so...

    i don't vote.

  • I agree. I don't really feel like voting between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.

  • search: DEBATE 19 OCTOBER 2008 - SUNDAY

and DO VOTE for someone who Really represents your values! there are SIX---yeah SIX candidates on the ballots with enough electoral votes to win the presidency IF they are allowed to debate. Apathy sucks. Do something.

  • I want that minute of my life back...watching this was a big waste of my time. Even if the choice is between Bad and Worse, wouldn't you think it may be a smart idea to at least vote for Bad so Worse doesn't control the show?

  • Love this edit job! Turns the original absurd message right on its head. Voting is an act of begging and willing servitude. Never mind "Don't Vote," don't even register.

  • I vote... to secede.

  • It's really sad that the drug war is not a major issue among the two parties. Yet another example of why both Obama AND McCain are "more of the same" as the Obamanazis say.

  • "Nice". HA! HA!

  • Best video response by far!

    watch?v=BwT6Tan4fFY

  • If you havent already, see the south park episode "Douche vs Turd" at some point before leaving the house on election day

  • I used to complain about the two-party duopoly, but now Im not sure it exists.

It looks more like a one-party system consisting of two superficially competing halves, each having an important stake in the others survival.

This is yet another coin-toss election in which a pair of disingenuous opportunists will pimp superficial issues with the goal of swaying the politically apathetic with sound bites.

The coin toss is rigged: Heads they win. Tails we lose.

Send a message: VOTE THIRD PARTY

  • Thank God, I've seen that video before and it really got on my nerves. Glad I'm not the only one who sees how absurd voting this year is.

  • If a rape victim gets to choose her rapist, is that freedom?

  • @Trandofir but how would people get married if we didn't force them?

  • I'm going to raise a banner above a busy highway on election day saying just that.

  • Yeah voting makes such a difference, between two candidates which are just there to keep the lobbies in power happy, and helping them make more money, while squeezing honest workers who believe in this country! And these good actors, what are they afraid of? That if the system change they return to be mr. nobodies? Yeah Hollywood continue to support a lack of change! Instead of promoting real knowledge and a future for our kids, just promote whatever they ask you to!

  • yeah, our choices are the guy who supported the bailout...and the guy who supported the bailout. I'll be voting 3rd Party.

  • @lakeviewviking Only some Completely Ignorant would vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Voting in a corrupt system doesn't work.

  • i get out every day

voting, the way we vote now, is fucking retarded

it's a way to keep us enslaved

  • How many brain dead Hollywood elites does it take to screw in a light-bulb.

The world may never know. They are still working on it.

  • Voting is there for us to feel like we have power, when we don't. Dont vote, fight the oppressive government in charge. Its not the vote that matters its who counts the votes what counts! Electronic voting is there to make rigging elections easier.

  • these people blow

  • LOL good one

  • Agora! Anarchy! Action!

  • The first time i really support Hollywood... finally some brains.

  • wow, unbelievable!

  • Much better version!

  • I never thought that Reason would take this position. Pretty radical... Cool.

  • Wut aboot teh liberatriuns?

  • This remix version is much more rational than the original. :-)

  • A lot less smug, too.

  • the commercial is "satire" but Reason added the words

  • Awesome remix!

  • Absolutely!

When you vote you give legitimacy to the looters and their system.

The more people who who refuse to vote the better!!!

Send them the message that we do not recognize their authority over us.

  • Wow! Brilliant! How unpredictable! You refuted his argument by identifying him as Ayn Rand. Incredible.

  • Perhaps. I do think that if say only 5-10% of the population actually voted that the politicians (aka "looters") might be a little less aggressive about (for example) stealing an additional $8000 from each of us to pay for a financial bail-out of Wall Street.

IMHO voting for Libertarian candidates is an okay thing to do, but nothing will ever really change until we change the hearts and minds of the majority of the people.

That should be the focus of libertarians.

    Not elections.

    :-)

  • I'd rather move to New Hampshire. That's what they should focus on: The free state project.

  • as I like to say, vote with your feet.

  • amen

  • Thank you Conor.

    I'll take that as a compliment. :-)

Atlas Shrugged is a very good book IMHO.

  • What does IMHO stand for?

  • in my honest opinion

  • Thought it was 'in my humble opinion'

  • or

    in my humble opinion

    depends on context

  • Also, even though I am drunk, I still will NOT vote, and I have no plans to.

  • I wont, even though I am registered to vote and all, I still wont. Both parties do not matter to me. Or all three.
