I played Mass Effect 1 and did every single mission which was possible with the best Paragonoptions available, I then imported that save in Mass Effect 2 and completed all missions available in that game on max. @simongenius1 Actually, it kinda does, the ground team will survive if their combined defensive stat is greater than a certian number. The number is generated by the difficulty setting. I have also tested it by reloading the game. (on a casual Samara survived, on another she died.

I've played through 6 different characters (hardcore and insanity), and each had a different ending/characters who survived(so technically 12 plays, lol), but I've never seen a team member save you if at least one person didn't survive the battle with the human reaper... Wa Zaeed guarding the back door during your fight, because you didn't send anyone with the Cerberus crew? Also have you tried killing all of the crew except for Dr. Chakwas? Or only half the Cerberus crew?
