@djtavi77 There are other apps that will stream shoutcast. I think Virtual DJ does but I'm not sure. You will want to use a shoutcast relay server. Once you get one of those you'll have a streaming port for ppl to listen on.

@berrios120 Sure. I've been using shoutcast in Second Life for years. But it is for audio only. If you are interested in native video streams in SL you'll need an RTSP stream. (real time streaming proxy)

Hey, the status on my winamp says " Cipher Response Received" when I hit connect. After a few seconds, it will try to reconnect and "Cipher Response Received" shows up and the same cycle goes on. Do you know what's going on with that? Thanks in advance.

@samohung Never heard of it. It may be something with the newer shoutcast DSP. I use shoutcast v1 so you may be using v2 or something. Good luck! ~J

@TheGreatRino98 If you want to be listed on the shoutcast directory then you need to get your own stream. For example if you searched "party stream" in the directory you'll see the stream I'\m referring to in the video.

Other wise shoutcast isn't anything but the name of the streaming technology.

You can upload music and run a shoutcast stream "server side" by getting the playliist service then you won't have to be connected live 24/7.

You can get your own account at Sky Deck Streams.

@soulsaver777 You may have to adjust the settings in your control panel under "sound and audio devices" and the "output" in the Winamp DSP. Unfortunately I don't have time till next week to help youtubers.

I use, and only recommend Winamp at this time.

@magicfreek Usually after you get your stream going you just need to put a stream player on your page.

If you wanted to host your own streaming server then you'd need a huge internet pipe and a Linux based server and then you'd need to know how to execute shell commands and be able write code. Consumer level internet connections are not recommend. After years I figured out how to do it and now me and a few other share a dedicated server with a monster internet pipe. You could share with us..?

@magicfreek A stream player is anything in a browser that plays your stream. Like a flash, windows media player, or quicktime plugin. For example on mine there's a Flash player.

It's easy to put a player on web pages. You can copy mine if you want. =)

@wrd945018 Hmm, not to sure. The DSP plugin should stay open. Maybe try different versions. I haven't had that problem but I know the plugin never stays in the last place I moved it to on my screen. If you have multiple screens then it may be open but on the other screen.

It says that it cannot start Winamp because the NSCRT.dll is missing from my computer, and to re install it. I have done that, and it still gives me the message. Winamp opens and I see all of my media, but this message keeps appearing. Please help!

I am new to this. I have everything installed. What I don't understand is how to be connected. Do I have to register with a "server" I thought you could just install winamp and shoutcast and start playing music. I don't know what to do next.  Thanks for your help.

@ansononline You connect to the relay server with one small bandwidth audio stream, then many listeners can access your audio from the relay server through a much bigger high bandwidth connection to the internet. You can have listeners with out a relay server but the thing is your connection to the internet is probably consumer level meaning you can only have a few listeners. Try for free if you like.
