It was a small show at the canyon club, a couple hundred people, it was great, i was so close to the stage, Robben is one of the different players out there, not so much a shredder, a real crafty player! Knows his shit
All Eric Clapton followers who never heard Robben Ford make me laugh. They all think Clapton is the best blues player of all times. Ask them if they ever heard Stevie Ray... and they'll go, Stevie who?
I like Clapton + I like Vaughan + I like Ford. Can we just enjoy good music (whatever the player) or do we need to start another booooring "my fav guitarrist is better than fav yours" kiddy battle?
Hey, leave Clapton alone man, he's a great bluesman, equal in his own way to Robben Ford or SRV, Clapton led the way on improvising in rock, and really helped make the blues household, sure his more recent stuff is a bit touch and go, but listen to John Mayall, or Cream live, and then you might understand. SRV and Ford are great, but don't forget that they are building on the shoulders of guys like the three kings, Buddy Guy, Clapton and Hendrix, so show a bit of respect for the pioneers.
u know my guitar teach is the one who turned me on to him. my guitar teacher is an incredible player. he recorded with the doobie brothers. And his playing comes pretty closse to Robben's:)
Come on---who's the sweet bass player and tasteful drummer? Let's pass some of those credits around. Love Robben. Saw him twice with the blue line---WOW!! Smooth
One of the most tasteful players I can think of. but....my fave part of this vid is when the guitar tech finaly leaves the stage - lol that was distracting.
Drummer was Gary Novak, and the Premier Signias he was playing were mine!
