  • Nice shop Kev, I'm in the same game, been at it for 47 years, but you can still learn a new trick,if you keep your open. Cheers Kev

  • My god, he's big-bird!

  • why does no one put 16 ton bender vids on to hell with the hand pump step on ped and watch it go

  • @dodge171 These are cheap to buy. Big hyd. benders are not so cheap.

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa what ya doing kev

  • @SpecialAndNotDumb Don't cry!! Everything will be all right...

    Oh yeah, I'm typing.........

  • @kevincaron You really are not that thick are you that you could not detect the sarcasim in my comment ? waaa whatcha ya doin kev .

PS: I wait with anticipation and buttocks clentched to your next installment of videos on waaa whatchya ya doin kev , Im hoping its an informative 5:04 run down on how to operate a teaspoon

  • @SpecialAndNotDumb ..I am going to add you to the special file. Just so ICan keep an eye on you.

And yes, my tongue is firmly in my cheek.

  • painstakingly slow! go hire some mexican labour lol. ih gringo works out, set him up with a good job

  • i have the exact same bender my dad got me for xmas. me and my cousin tried to bend exhaust for his truck. it just kinked the hell out of all of the bends we did. any help?

  • @m13hty Did you use the right size die for the pipe? The 2 inch die is for 2 inch pipe and so on..

If you were trying to make too sharp of a bend for the die that will also cause a kink also.

  • @kevincaron yeah man i used the correct die. i guess we were doing too sharp of bends. im a welder and mess with steel all day everyday lol! but i havent attempted bending any thicker wall pipe. only thin exhaust pipe. maybe i just cant go very sharp with that thin stuff? idk.

  • @m13hty Maybe try filling the section with sand first? It has to be packed tight. Usually you fill the tube with water, then scoop wet sand into the water-filled pipe until you have nothing but sand (the water pours out as you fill). Tap it, pack it, top it off, tape your ends, and bend it. Not sure if this will work for what you need, and there are surely other ways to bend tubing well, but that's what I'd be trying if you only need a couple bends.

  • @becoming2000 Great suggestion!!

    Thanks for posting.

  • @m13hty This is just a cheap chinese bender and the dies are all wrong. the only way is to fill the pipe full of sand. Just face it some tools ain't worth buying! :I

  • @m13hty Its because exhaust tube is too thin. The pipe has to be atleast 3mm wall thickness for this type of bender, because the material has to "stretch" as it bends. If the pipe is too thin it can't stretch so it just kinks. Exhaust are usually bent in a mandrel bender.

  • Just wondering can you bend a 2-3" pipe up to 90 degrees with this type of hydraulic bender?

  • @sidhucer00789 Yes, you can certainly do that, as long as you have the right size die (the attachment that goes on top of the jack). Otherwise the pipe will kink.

Hope that helps, and thanks for posting. If you haven't seen the rest of my videos, I hope you check them out.

  • Kevin, we really appreciate you and your wife taking the time to make these very useful, interesting and down to earth videos. Thanks!

  • @strube1369 Thanks! If you have any suggestions for new videos please post them here and I will give them a shot.

  • It seems like everytime I search a metal working question in youtube I always find your helpful videos. I feel like I know you and your wife through all the videos. Thanks for taking the time to post them Kevin. Much appreciated. If you're ever in Florida stop by !

    Jim

  • Thanks Jim.

I have a lot of fun making these videos. Mary has just as much fun working on the other end of the camera.

I used to live in Ocala. Out by the airport. Way back in the early 70s. It was a great place to grow up.

  • keep up the good work

  • Thanks! Don't forget to stop by my site and sign up for my newsletter. I update about once a week so stop by often.

  • Can't wait to see the final project. Do take commissions for public art? I am a partner in a firm that does urban design and residential projects.

  • Yes I do public art. This tree is for a public park outside a library.

  • Glad it was helpful. I like it when someone can see how something really works.

If you haven't already, I'd appreciate you rating this video. Thanks much, and stay tuned!

  • oh man thank you for making this i really wanted to see how that machine works!

  • Pretty cool! That's going to be a massive tree. Might need a few metal birds to keep it company. Nice start.

    That hydraulic table is AWESOME!

  • Thanks. The tree is coming along. Starting on the branches today. I don't know about metal birds, than I would have to make metal poop to go on the ground also.

I love this table! It make working on heavy pieces so much easier.

  • Hmm. Excellent idea! That would get more than a few smiles, too. :-)

  • I agree. You would have to make metal poop and it would be hard to make the birds.... AWESOME

  • I tried eating some metal shavings and making my own poop, but all I got was rust!!

  • i like the concept and the idea of your bender..hydraulic???im bending pipes to i have a manual bender a home made and im planning to put a pump or a hydraulic..by the way im bending 1/2 bi pipes..thanks for posting lots of help.

  • Check back in when you can. Always something going on here.

Don't forget to give me a rating.

  • good job sir!nice bender>>did you make it yourself????

  • Thanks. This is a Harbor Freight special. It works great for the price but the pump is starting to leak a little. Have to rebuild it soon.
