  • Sounds like he is spitting a lot !

  • i love you so much right now, nobody has explained functions like this before and i didn't even realize that stop(); and play(); were functions, although now it seems kind of obvious, anyway, great tutorial. keep it up :D

  • Hi, very good tutorials, Help me please, How can I dinamically hide objects in a scene.

  • Hi, does this mean you can use activate functions globally? I can make a button and make it so that if it's clicked it will activate a function right? What if you have a function set up and you activate it on a movieclip? Will it apply to the movieclip or do I have to set the instance name?

  • this guy's hilarious!

  • sooo,.... what's this tutorial is about again????

  • XD

  • This guy needs to work for Walt Disney

  • thank you very much, sir

  • guy sounds like the joker

  • Check out flashmove(dot)com Forum

  • BLURRY :(

  • your tone is very arrogant but I guess it's just me.

  • @funkster505 sounds like a pastor of a church, haha.

  • I once sat with a tutor doing some work on my own and he was explaining something and he didn't notice I had earphones on listening to turbonegro (I have ADD), i feel a tap on my shoulder and I take off my headphones, turn to him and say "huh? I'm sorry, were you saying something?". So he had to RE EX-PLA-IN everything again but in the SAME tone of VOICE as THIS guy. I may have A.D.D. but he was an A.S.S. EM-phasize.

  • Very interestin.... Thanks.

  • I'll learn this stuff and I WILL BE A GAME DESIGNER!!!!

  • And I'll be a firefighter

  • @bluethunder25

    Well spoken brother

  • HAHAHAAH! HALLYWOOD THE DOOOHG

  • Oh, cool. Your tutorials are much more interesting than others I've seen! great job!

  • This guy sounds like Dane cook, except he's talking about programming.

    FUNCTION TYPES

  • how annoying is that guy hehehe ... but great tut....

  • I'm learning AS 3.0.

    But can anyone tell me if i need to also know AS 2.0 if i hope to get a flash design job in near future. It just seems a real drag learning both and i'm gonna bust a neuron doing both

  • AS1 and AS2 were created by Macromediea, where as as3 was made by adobe, so therefor the answer is no.

  • I think I will need to learn actionscript 3.0,

    actionscript 2.0 doesn't work 100% in Flash CS4

  • That's not true. If you create an AS2 document all works perfectly normal.

    And as for what concerns to functions, it works exaclly the same way for AS2 as for AS3.

  • i think action script 2 is much easier than this the only difference between this and action script 2 is i think you will be able to make AI in games much less glitchy such as not getting the enemy stuck behind a wall.

  • This was much easier to understand compared to what my instructor tries to instruct. I wish I knew this sooner. My life would have been a bit easier.

  • while(true){ burnInHell(phonez666, MAX_TORTURE);

    }

  • LOL nice one.

  • but who is the mental case now?

    the inquired or the inquisitor.

  • Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!!

  • look my AS3 code:

    if(jesus == lucifer) {return armageddon;}

    ROFL

  • ... that's not funny. That was very disrespectful towards god. I cant believe that you said that, so immature.

  • if(free == mase){

    print "ROFL";}

    else{

    die;

    }

    im sorry for you too "mature" to understand. i dont participate in dualism. i dont give a fock if you find things funny or not.

  • Seems you don't know maturity as anything else would. A bit on the pathetic side in my opinion. Surely you don't care, you have nothing better to do in life then to start an online argument, or so it seems for how your attitude is ridiculously obnoxious and filled with displeasure. Please do the world a favor,

    don't start an argument just because your bored, and by the way, I did understand that, and you cant print a string without it being written on the stage, you can only print a document.

  • How ironic that you yourself are participating in an "online argument" and how you started it in the first place. Double standards ? ... Maybe.

    Regards,

    Zen

  • hmm? oh, yeah i got over that. Its no big deal anymore, sorry if you got the wrong idea, but I just don't like it when ever people offend god, whether its joking or not. :p, again sorry if you got the wrong idea.

    p.s. (I'm very defensive towards god, kinda wierdly but w/e)

  • I think it's funny that people defend God. I think if anything he would be insulted that people thinks he needs defending =p

  • i have no idea what that meant, but w/e, cya.

  • He just what he felt, might not have been a great or intelligent statement but I dont think it was that terrible either. Your statements on how it was disrespectful to God was scarily similar to war cries of all fundamentalists who try to find the smallest sign of herecy against the SO CALLED great one to behead some innocent people and rape some women. Btw if there is a God let him come and defend himself against such immature comments as phonez just made.He seems to be 15 and as such is silly!

  • Its good to see some free and rational thinkers on YouTube.

    Regards,

    Zen

  • isnt it sad that rational thinking seems to be a rarity in the age of reasoning?

  • this was great! more vids please!

  • as2>as3..as3 is adobe's way of selling flash to oop lovers...anyways but thats not the point of this video..the video was good

  • And this comment is your way of expressing that you cant just gasp the new programming syntax because it has moved on step forward being a programming language not a scripting language. But ou, that's not the point of this video, the video was good!

  • to each their own , you can enjoy your oop Ill stick to my AS2 which is simpler and much more useful. Dont come and tell me what I can and cannot grasp, its a matter of interest and I do not have the patience to re learn oop when I kicked java in the ass after working for year on it coz it was too boring to enjoy.

  • That's more like it. It's totally subjective, if you don't have the inspiration to learn something then obviously you wont be much excited about it.

    Though making it clear that something is better than something else (basically saying it sucks) just because you don't have the "thing" in you isn't very rational :)

    Btw i think AS3 OOP is totally retarded compared to C++ for example. But the great thing about being a human is that you get used to everything.

  • I guess my way of reprensenting my thought was innacurate . I should have instead said that the plan of trying to force people to move into a programming language based software from what flash used to be was dumb rather than saying that oop was dumb because its not . In anycase AS3 doesnt have overwhelming success till now , maybe Adobe now will remove as2 altogether on their next launch of flash to shove it down our throats even more on the occasion of not so positive overwhelming response !

  • you talk funny, bill lol!

  • Good flash instruction, but when I subscribe to your channel photoshopmama pops into the list not mydigitalworks. Not good.

  • y dont u gust move and then shrink the animal then you dont have to right any code as3 is so confusing i prefer as2 its easyer

  • ??? You can do it Without code too, just Insert KeyFrame, Move/Resize the dog, Create Motion Tween, and Test your movie, Of course you can do it, but ActionScript Programming is not only That, its really Powerful, i.e. with a simple 10 line code or less, you can create a game, like "Shoot the freaking dog!", a few more lines of code and you can make a music video, almost whatever you want... BTW, AS2 and AS1 also had Actionscript Code Writing too, but, maybe you didnt know that!!!

  • yeah my function works... but how do I get this to work with it?

    addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,someFunction);

  • thanks a lot for your tutorials, much appreciated, cheers :)

  • I love this guy's voice, inflections and enthusiasm. I wish he had more vids. I really do.

  • haha, the guy worries to much about his prononciation

  • I beg to differ. I think he's very natural and enthusiastic.

  • These tutorials are exactly what I was looking for and I really like your teaching style, thanks a lot

  • Yeap, that's me and my voice, I'm bill dallas lewis and I teach flash one on one, my you tube site is flashTeacher

  • Great tutorial Mr. Bill!

  • Your voice acting. It is so horrible. It makes my ears bleed.

    But I got the information I was looking for, so I won't have to hunt you down :D

    Good tutorial

  • oh god, he said with a smile, as if then he could finally command actionscript with the force he had wanted to for years...

  • Good Work

  • Thank you!o(∩_∩)o

  • Thanks for the clip. lol I love Mr. Bill!!! Great to know someone else appreciates him too :)
