  • beautiful song :)

  • Wow!!! Amazing!

  • Makes me happy. Thanks, PJ.

  • Joe Higgs, "teacher" of Bob Marley.

  • OH woW! Ive never heard ska version before! WICKED!

  • This is the most awsome pieces of Jamaican music I've ever heard! This is the first time I've ever heard it and I'm in LOVE!!!!

  • jamaica at its best

  • I agree. Now I just need to find an original 45 because the album has terrible sound quality. I'm sure the 45 is much, much better

  • great stuff, dont know the artist bt is a great sound thanks! love that organ/keyboard sound, thx for posting

  • What a great track! Love the sleeves too #:o)

  • carnt beat studio 1 records

  • Hi DJPower version, this is intense! I do appreciate the post and the info. Can you tell me the name of the artist? I love this, and remember dancing to it , as a child. THANKS.

  • One of my favourite tunes but I wouldn't call it do wop. You can also see Joe Higgs do this song acoustically on another video - Joe Higgs there is a reward.

  • @PrinceAndrew100 Yes well worth looking for...very moving seeing him sitting down and just playing a wonderful song

  • Very nice.

  • GREAT POWERFULL SKA BEAT YU KNOW! thank you to share this and many more!

  • You're very welcome

  • PJ this is a Top Quality Post!! Love early JA ska its such a feel good sound :))

  • Doo wop + Ska=rocksteady

  • While the sound may not be the best, the song really comes through. Great music. Thank you for the post. Interesting Entertaining, great music.

  • Wonderful record and I love those studio One sleeves.. Thank you for a great find

  • I'm glad so many people appreciate this

  • take a look on the original record at MySpace account!

    DJ_Power_Version

  • Joe Higgs & Roy Wilson! Recorded at Studio One in 1965 - but produced by C.S. Dodd & W. Chin Quee! Musical accompaniment not by The Skatalites or The Soul Brothers! It's the Mighty Vikings Band!

  • Thank you for the wonderful information. I am a big fan of reggae and Jamaican music in general. I have tried to educate myself on the subject but just like doo wop I've come to find that there is a limitless amount of music and information on the subject

  • @DJPowerVersion Yes Chin Quee was manager and owner of the Mighty Vikings, I can still remember Vikings sessions at the V.I.P. club in Halfwaytree and Sombrero at Four Roads.

  • @two9parkave Thanks for answering, I appreciate it! The full name of the producer and manager is Winston Chin Quee and the label name came of the colaboration with Coxsone Dodd = Wincox.

  • This is the legendary Joe Higgs>>>>>Classic!

  • thanks, love it. i first got hip to this early jamaican stuff when i picked up the "heptones on top" lp for a buck at a used record store here in detroit - still the best dollar i ever spent.

  • You're right.. Heptones On Top is a fantastic album! I really enjoy their early stuff. I've been thinking of posting Mama by Leroy Sibbles and The Heptones

  • I like it

But I would argue that it is ska that is bordering on rocksteady given the tempo and phrasing

  • Well, when it comes to labels, just about everything "borders on" something else. But FWIW it sounds like straight up SKA to me, from 1964 or 1965 (based on the sound alone).

  • Nice! :)

  • That Is A Beautiful Sound Of Studio 1

13 Brentford Rd Ja , I Wish People Wud learn Bout The Early Recording Equipment one track facilty ect ect! Used By Dodd Thats Watt Makes It Very Distinctive n a wonderfull sound mon!!

Big Up Studio 1 Biggest Sound On earth!!

    raspeck!!!

  • I love the sound of early Jamaican recordings. Anything recorded by Federal had a great sound to it. Unfortunately the pressings weren't always good. This album was pressed terribly. One Love by The Wailers sounds amazing on the Studio 1 45 but muddy on this album.

  • i love the jahmaken sound of it...quality or no quality, be danged.

  • the one named Delroy Wilson... one o' di baddest ever!!! theese used to be the UNBELIEVABLE SOUND!!!

  • thanks but the music overwelmed the voice made it sound muffled or is that the way it suppose to sound?

  • Unfortunately it's a poorly recorded song. Early Jamaican records are hit or miss.. I have some that sound amazing and some that sound like this.

  • GREAT!!!

  • ty :)

  • R.I.P. Joe Higgs.

  • Amen

  • is this really no longer available or am i having a software problem?

  • You must be having a software problem. This video is alive and well.

  • Thanks for sharing this (your Video Response) with us, PJDooWop. Killer tune. I remember dancing to this one in nightspots and at parties in W1, W10 and W11.
