Nations and people led by prejudice and stupidity - and it will be too long before we ever learn to be better as the human race; simply because there is no reasoning with stupidity on such a mass scale, so deeply ingrained into the psyche of simple minds.
Who could stand up to so much ignorance? can enlightenment be as pervading? I'm not sure I'll find out in my lifetime, but I hope one day we might know better.
once again, a fantastic video (and great song of course). i love how massive attack can seamlessly turn their videos into mini-documentaries. most of all, i like how they take a stand in defense of social justice.
I think it is a good video after all. It rise awareness about the debate and i believe many people still dont know about this. Therefore everyone can have there own opinion about thing.
Music tho is make the world moving, music is life and surely musician precious their creation and music fans do not want to hear that music have been given a bad name. But how much do we know about it? how much do we know about the moral rights? I know a little bit and i want to know more. I am just a music fans
And its a shit, like in Stanley Kubrick's movie `A clock work orange`, to be forced to something with a kind of music you will never like again.
When i listen enough times to certain music in the same environment i finaly associate the feeling to it, and forget about my taste of considering it nice or crap at the beginning.

I don't believe any form of torture is morally acceptable; it saddens me that the U.S. is doing this sort of thing. However, of all the inhumanity on earth, *this* is what Massive Attack chooses to take a stand against?
If you want to really protest savage inhumanity, why don't you interview one of the innumerable multitude of ex-inmates of Chinese prisons, where people are hung upside down and beaten on the soles of the feet? Where electric cattle prods are used inside the mouths of prisoners.
There was a man named Manadel Al-Jamadi. He had a wife and two children. He was arrested in a night raid and then taken to Abu Ghraib. He was beaten to death after being hung by his wrists in a position known as "Palestinian Hanging."
... Where prisoners' bones are beaten and broken with hammers to extract information from them. Or you could look at North Korean prisons, which are home to such horrors of savagery that would make any decent person vomit. They outdo even the Chinese.
But no, we hear about how prisoners in Guantanamo are chained, chilled, and subjected to extended loud music. I LOVE your work, guys... but seriously. Priorities?
If you are a fan, you are likely aware that Massive Attack has been around for more than 20 years and has taken a principled stances on a number of issues. To take them to task for this is a bit silly.
Second, as they are from the UK and the UK is in league with the US in the torture of prisoners at Guantanamo, perhaps they feel inclined to take a stand.
Third, as musicians, they likely feel especially strong about the fact that something they create and love can also be used to harm.
Then there was a taxi cab driver who was arrested in Afghanistan and taken to Bagram where he was also hung by his wrists to the top of the cage. US soldiers thought it was funny when they did "groin kicks" and he would yell out to Allah. They kept doing them as enterrainment. Dilawar was a young man with a daughter.
Priorities? Some forms of torture are appalling and others are not? Does this - by chance - depend on what country is committing these acts and to whom? I am getting the distinct feeling that since they are "only Muslims" it's perfectly OK.
By the way, at least three more detainees were murdered at Guantanamo - and do not make the mistake of thinking that torture such as what's used in China does not go on in Bagram and Guantanamo. In fact, the US outsources torture. It's still torture.
You're reading what you want to see into what I said. It doesn't matter which country is doing it, and I have no less sympathy for a Muslim undergoing mistreatment than anyone else. Your example about the man crying out to Allah is gutwrenching...... deplorable. Savagery is savagery.
If the testimonies are there, by all means get them out there so people know! The fact remains MA is using their public podium to protest *relatively* minor stuff. They could do so much more. That's all I'm saying.
Dear mapipolo, you would not be making the same comment if you were an unfortunate soul born as a Muslim who would one day grow up to encounter such torture. Something like that is only minor to you because you are one of those lucky bastards who was born into a blessed situation with a little less strife, which I hope you will never take for granted. :)
you got some great stuff on here! Thanks for being out there! You are doing great things!

America is a democracy and it is theoretically possible to get the government to stop doing those things. Not so much in China and North Korea.
