  • 5:28 - this is my favorite part.

  • Holy shit, this could be the most original music i've heard in years

  • F-ing amazing, he is brilliant...I agree with all the ebullient comments posted...I am 55 yr old women and I've never heard anything like this...

  • This is my favorite from the album. So great... "I've lost the will to fight!!!!" I think that's what he's saying at least. What a great part.

  • mind fuck !!!

  • AUUUUGH I AM SO HAPPY THIS GUY EXISTS.

  • first time i hear this

    O.O

    LOVE LOVE LOVE

  • Stevens must have similar genes to Mozart - he is filled to the brim with music that keeps flowing.

  • Oh my god. When I read all the comments about people crying and stuff, I thought they were overreacting, but... out of nowhere...

  • @PauletaPorreta

    It's amazing, isn't it? Hehe.

  • This song is just incredible! Sufjan is probably one of the best writers of our time.

  • this song can change your life.

  • Shit woke me up. 5AM, bitches. Up in time to finish work for my class i shouldve done months ago. Wheres my coffee?

  • @purifiedimagination Absolutely. The first time i listened to the album it almost knocked me on the ground, it was so different, and I was left longing for the banjo. The second time, the following night, I was prepared and I completely fell in love with it. Sufjan is an incredible artist.

  • surf jam stevens

  • Electronic Doom Folk

  • @KJIgravitypwns I would include "orchestral" in that

    Electronic Orchestral Doom Folk

  • When you first listen to this album you won't like it, but about the third time you listen to it you instantly fall in love with the deep beats and sweet acoustics. Sufjan Stevens... sir you are a genius.

  • Sufjan! I can't believe I missed this album. I guess I gave up looking for a new one. This is CRAZY! I had to put in the headphones so I could hear ALL of this. You never cease to amaze or surprise!

  • This.. is probably my most favorite song of all time.

  • Age of Adz musical. NOW.

  • how is he not popular ? i mean this deserv attleast 1 000 000 views.

  • 6:56 to the end - This is one of the most beautiful moments in any song. The whole song makes those final lines all the more powerful - stripped of all the electric bravado and angst. But I can't get those last lines out of my head. Brilliant.

  • I. CANT. STOP. LISTENING. TO. THIS. SONGGGGGGGGGG

  • whoa I haven't listened to sufjan stevens in a while and this is so much different from the transfiguration :o

  • Daaaamn. This is the jam!!!

  • Jimmy fucking Neutron.

  • This is my favorite song ever.

    Hands-down.

  • I make music from wooden boards, windows, and plastic! Please do listen to the videos on my channel :)

  • szkujcie się to jest muzyka przyszłości i nie bardzo jest odwrót

  • I though there were nothing interesting in the 00s and 10s, but suddenly... SUFJAN STEVENS!!! :-)

  • I'm not even on acid and I'm freaking out.

  • I fucking love this song and the album and I just can't stop listening to it..

  • when i first heard this album, i thought it sucked, now i can't stop thinking about it and replaying the songs in my head, i think i even listen to it way too much...

  • @TheBlackMetallurgist

    Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • this reminds me of the end of 'walk hard' where dewey's band is like an orchestra and all these outlandish crazy instruments lol that's all i'm really hearing: complicated minimalism, a piece of bread covered with peanut butter, jam, chocolate chips, gummy bears, herbs, spices, multi colored sprinkles....its edible and has a lot of good stuff, but i wouldn't eat it

  • @mackles I suppose you don't like A Day in the Life by The Beatles, either. At least this is unique and not some recycled garbage like everything played on the radio.

  • This is the soundtrack to my life

  • @Blueorchid1100 THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN. Fantasia was basically my favorite movie growing up, and Fantasia 2000 rocked. Fantasia: Project Adz is the future of art.

  • I've got mixed feelings for the Age of Adz album... It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't get into it like I did Illinoise and The Avalanche (and most of the others, for that matter)...

Seems I'm about the only person with this opinion, though.

  • @azukar8

Bummer man, or miss. It's really amazing. Try again? Listen through the messiness. Some of his best songwriting, no doubt.

  • #tinypants movement tylb

  • try not to close your eyes during this song. dont even blink. all you will see is cities in flames; this song convinces you think the world is ending

    geniuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus sufjan genius

  • this is going on the next fantasia :D

  • Real shit!

  • The Age of A.D.Z All Damned Zealots !? Rise together...

  • WOW!!!!! Can you truly say anything else? BTW< Sufjan: you are hot

  • guys.. im complete seriously! this has got to be the most beautiful thing ever made by man.. im in love!

  • fuck this song is so good!!!

  • Heard this for the first time while I was really stoned getting even more high. It was awesome.

  • 6:56 (cue bawling)

  • Try syncing it or mashing it up with "Parade" by Susumu Hirasawa.

  • Sufjan just rapes the ear drum, the rape you beg for. (:

  • I cry every time I hear the ending

  • @ 0:01, it sounds like I'm playing sonic. lol.

  • I love how he says "sorry" the canadian way at 7:33.

  • @naseoj No, he says it the Michigan way :)

  • 7:34 is gollldddd

  • Impressionnant ce p'tit génie ailé !

  • "When i die I'll rot, but when i live I'll give it all I've got"

this is why i listen to sufjan stevens

  • LiveLavaLive sent me here, Now this band has another fan C:

  • @BlueYoshiCake101 he's an artist, not a band haha

  • I put both speakers to my ears and almost fell over at the glory.

  • Sufjan went fantastically electronic. This is wonderful, wonderful stuff.

  • 2:17 -

the sound of the sea's largest whale taking her first breath of air after 600 years of sleep.

    GODDAMN GENIUS SUFJAN.

  • @Milkweedy Steam Whale. With cold, red eyes of glass.

  • Sufjan Stevens is undoubtedly one of the best contemporary composers. If you listen deeply to a raw (not compressed like jewtube or mp3 limewire) version of this album with quality headphones, unimaginably beautiful and intricate sound scapes reveal themselves.

  • It's like regular baroque pop as performed by Aphex Twin on shitloads of depressants.

    AWESOME!

  • 3:59 love the horn!

  • When I listen to this I see a 10-story robot rampaging around a cityscape and destroying everything in its path.

    Seriously.

    This is fucking awesome.

  • @YesForce does your robot look like a giant teddy bear? because mine does....

  • When I listen to this song, I see a robot rampaging around and blowing tings up things.

    Seriously.

    It is fucking awesome.

  • A spiritual experience does not need to be religious - I simply mentioned being Atheist to exemplify how uncommon it is.

  • I'm an Atheist and this gave me a spiritual experience....

  • @fierywind12 so maybe your an agnostic now?

  • I love how alot of artists new stuff nowadays is modern electronic mixed with old styles of orchestration mixed with their indie kid vocals. ahh! its so good. combing new and old to make a masterpiece in the auditory arts

  • When I started listening I was a little unsure & taken back, but after less than 2 minuets in I was covered in Goosebumps, its incredible.

  • It rots!

  • new indie band's music *for free

check out pittsburgh's "Basic Math" @

    ddbd.bandcamp.com/

  • i like this but i would of liked it more without the mechanical noises... they somewhat distract you from the beautiful lyrics and sufjans gorgeous voice.

  • @zwalrus1

How's the view from your high horse

  • I can't believe this is the same guy who made Illinois. So different, but just as incredible. What an amazing musician.

  • @whymog I agree 100 percent. Incredible versatility and talent. I think you can kind of hear his older music at around 7:36.

  • *hypnotized*

  • This song makes me picture a terrifying parade marching through a moving Japanese woodblock print with meteors and tsunamis crashing beside them while the sky falls.

  • @eagle1101 LMFAO ME TOO! XD

  • Anyone who listens to this and doesn't like it should spend more time listening to real music. The orchestrations are classical. Ridiculous. This man breaks so many molds and boundaries. Dislike it? Fine. Enjoy your Lady Gaga and Lil' Wayne and let intelligent people appreciate the work of a good artist.

  • @zwalrus1 I like lil' Wayne as well as this.

  • Anyone who thinks he lost his "songs" on the new album - this song would work "unplugged" too! I´m sure!

  • @RagsdaleW Are people not allowed to have an opinion of their own? Fair enough that you dislike it, you're entitled to your opinion, but please, give people the same sort of decency you'd expect to receive from them. I doubt you appreciate people saying your favourite music is 'garbage'.

  • @RagsdaleW are you accusing him of fucking around? because he's not.

  • @pugidsound Hahahaha

  • its amazing

  • Gahhh! Don't ever listen to this on acid.

  • @greengorillaz TOO LATE :D

  • I disagree. Someone listen to this on acid and report back to the rest of us. Please, someone without a job, a weapons stockpile, or a 4th floor apartment. God speed!

  • @greengorillaz can't fucking wait to listen to this on acid

  • @greengorillaz But LISTEN to this with weed.

  • @greengorillaz been there done that. sometimes have flashbacks when i listen to the song.

  • @greengorillaz

This is the funniest comment I have ever read. Ever.

  • @greengorillaz

why? i think id love this on cid

  • @greengorillaz I actually did once and it was actually really really great the start was like ehh....pretty terrifying haha but the trumpets oh god the trumpets XD

  • @greengorillaz Listen to this on acid as often as you can.

  • I was never totally sold on Sufjan's music before this album. But this stuff is really great.

  • I've never heard anything like this in my entire life.

  • Very interesting music. I was on the fence at the beginning but like it now that I've listened all the way through.

  • The sad part is that there's 5 dislikes, which opens up any comment to being more easily interpreted as an insult. It reminds me of how John Lennon's Imagine has 400 dislikes, and that's all people can comment about there, which is completely understandable (400 people can't imagine). At least it's better than before, when videos of Hanna Montana, Britney Spears, and kittens were the only ones to get 5 stars.

  • I agree with @TheFizzMic

    This is America!

  • Prince, anyone?

  • Sufjan should compose the soundtrack of the next Star Trek movie.

  • Brian Wilson meets The Flaming Lips?

  • You can't change the page while it's playing. I tried and couldn't. It should come with a disclaimer that your'e about to take 8 minutes out of your day, even if you've heard it already.

  • @withirishlove What are you talking about? The page turns just fine. That's your computer, dude, not the video.

  • @AEFic

it was a compliment that you cant turn it off because of how good it is.

  • @withirishlove Ah. That's a confusing compliment... sorry, then.

  • @withirishlove Your computer is a peice of shit then man.

  • @merderouslonewolf

Your vocabulary suggests you are a child, so I'm not going to waist my time explaining why it was actually a compliment to possibly my favorite living musician.

  • @withirishlove Okay, that is not what we understood though. The way you put it, is as an insult. I didn't mean harm, just if I knew that it was a compliment then I wouldn't have offended you so much...

  • @withirishlove a belt goes on your waist.

  • hm, i don't know if i'm digging this song, still trying to get use to his new sound. no complaints though! only artist where i actually care to listen fully to every song

  • pople like difrint things. dont kill each other

  • Christ this album is good. What has it been, two months now? It still finds new ways to creep into my head and engage me.

  • electrepic.

  • but i do like his song chicago.

  • @TheFizzMic You spent so much time covering your bases trying to prevent someone from being mean to you that you didn't give one solid reason for your opinion.

  • don't be critical, but i dont like this song. dont hate because i have opinions different from yours but this song sucks. dont say "if you dont like it dont look it up or comment on it" thats why it gives me a choice to comment. whether or not i wanna say something good or bad. im just puttin it out there that its not that great.

  • @TheFizzMic i'm not even trying to be rude but this song is AMAZINGG. i cant even imagine why anyone wont like this songgggg

  • @TheFizzMic This song is probably the best song to come out in the last 100 years!

  • Comment removed

  • @TheFizzMic you're a fucking idiot. not because you put your opinion out there but for two other reasons. all you did is to say that this song sucks, like someone is going to listen to you for a childish comment, plus you have no reasons at all supporting that. Second, you took all that time just to just to write out all the reasons people shouldnt be criticizing your comment and yet Im not the only one who has found valid reasons to. Im listening to the song right now, so im not wasting my time

  • I never get tired of listening to this album. Every song is a blur of beautiful poetry and progressive music, the likes of which has never been heard before.

  • Mitchell Davis

  • I DONT CARE ANYMORE. jesus it was weeks ago, and it means nothing anyway.

ps hes gay, not that it matters

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • I'm pretty sure this has definitely been said before but... this song fucking blew my mind.

  • It's fun to listen to "Seven Swans" and then this. You can really see the evolution of Sufjan's work.

  • Why sit here an argue about whether it's good or not... Music and beauty are subjective and you either enjoy it or you don't so listen or piss off.

  • 2 people are ICP fans

  • @jellywizardofgms you are the best person alive

  • @jellywizardofgms

    HAHAHA,you mean't to say juggalo's.

  • @youlovedd the correct spelling is "morons"

  • This is one of the best tracks on the whole album. The final minute long outro absolutely breaks my heart. The simplicity of the melody and gentle picking contrasts with the bombastic rest of the piece. One of the best moments on the entire album is when the tonality/instrumentation of this song is repeated at the 20:30 mark in Impossible Soul.

  • it's an apocalyptic love song. of course it's going to be confusing, crazy, lovely and amazing.

  • so many different chords at once MINDFUCK!!! this guys a genius!!

  • EAARGAAASM

  • @marsandgeez I love you?

  • i feel like i'm letting down a friend when i say this, because his music has moved me in almost intimate ways, but this song feels like a garbage dump. there are complexities and little treasures here and there, but all together it is just a big pile of garbage. fun to sort through, but not a place i'd want to hang out too long.

  • I can literally feel my heart sink and rise within my chest when I hear this song.

  • how about futile, thats a nice song. melodic guitar and deep lyrics with an unclear meaning. christian repressed homosexuality in my opinion.

  • To everyone on this page - PLEASE listen to Dirty Boy by Cardiacs.......I promise me....you WILL thank me

  • ... this whole album has instrumentals that remind me of 'The Wizard of Oz'

  • You know that feeling you get when you hear a song that is so good your heart could burst with happiness and a smile is plastered on you face?

Yeah well. I have that feeling in the highest potency while listening to this album.

  • You know that feeling you get when you hear a song that is so good your heart could burst with happiness and a smile is plastered on you face?

Yeah, well. I have that feeling at the highest potency ever while listening to this album.

  • I'm craving the trombone that happens about 2 minutes in.

  • I just had a future-esque musical magical orgasm

  • This is in the running for the most beautiful song I have ever heard

  • @Ghettobnzie1 really? its so off tone and everything, I usually like him, and i get the whole awkward shreiking artsness of it, but its in no way beautiful, nor is it mesnt to be.

  • @mycultureisbetter It isn't off tone. Listen closer, it's complex and wonderful. I am stunned by how diverse he can be, whilst still sounding just like himself.

P.S use spell check you lovely bastard you.

  • @TheStubbornDebater weird-o

  • @TheStubbornDebater If you really think this song is beautiful, you should check out the noise parts of the 20min, godspeed you black emperor songs. nevermind the music parts, youd like the noise.

  • @TheStubbornDebater whut, ar yu talking tew sufjan? he spelt it that wey on perpose

  • @mycultureisbetter No ear for music

  • @sightseek3r what happened to the 50states project?

  • @mycultureisbetter He already admitted that that was a publicity stunt. Go to Wikipedia & search his name & they'll tell you about that...

  • @mycultureisbetter You've got to be kidding me.

  • @Vykky As if hes the first
