One thing that would make your computer faster is to not run gadgets in WIndows Vista or Windows 7. Another is to run a theme such as Windows Basic. Another is to simply use a solid color background rather than a picture/slide show. All that said, Defraggler does a decent job at defragging - better than the one built-in to Windows XP, Vista or 7.
