Hush Review

I dunno I enjoyed this book. It kind of felt like the write was trying to make Riddler and Hush fight like Bane in Knightfall by wearing Batman out. It's not a great written story, but it is redeemed with Hush returns and Heart of Hush. Heart of Hush being my favorite. I liked his hospital filled with zombified people. Oh and Scarecrow was awesome as well haha

This is one of my favorites, this along with knightfall. Hush, Croc, Azrael, and Dick Grayson (especially as batman) are my favorite batman characters. I do agree though they shouldn't have brought back todd, i hate it when writers do that, it takes away the power in their death. Same with Barry Allen, Hal Jordan, Superboy, Superman, Batman, Captain America, etc.

I read Dark Victory right after re-reading Long Halloween, and I don't hate it, but it is very, very weak compared to Long Halloween as well as having the same type of story.

I wouldnt be so hard on this story it has great art, is entertaining, and that is just all. The plot is mediocre, Tommy Elliot is not believable as a criminal mastermind, same goes for the Riddler, the story should have been caled Rush, zillions of characters, no pacing, characterization, etc, Paul Dini really had to work a lot, for developing Hush on th Heart of Hush storyline , which is excellent, because the original Hush was a mediocre character. i dont like how dark knight returns makes batman use guns that is not batman batman has a no firearms rule to not use a gun in fact the only time it was ever nessecary for him to use a gun was when he shot Darkseid in order to save the world

This was the first batman book I ever read (full series wise, I've read single issues before) so I really liked it when Batman decides to kill joker but I can see how you didn't. The thing that I HATED about Harvey Dents part was that it felt like he was there to trick the reader rather than Batman. And something you forgot to mention is the beautiful artwork by Jim Lee

I think you are a being a little harsh. The point of "Hush", in my opinion, was to reboot Batman for new readers. As a comic reader, you should know that this is necessary every few years. And, it worked for me, it is what brought me back to DC. It is not, at all, the greatest Batman story, but it is pretty good. At least in my opinion.

This wasn't intended ot be or marketed as a reboot. and it's not a reboot in any sence of the word. If anything around this time was a reboot it would be the new Gotham stuff.

Ithink Hush is very pourly written. And if it had just some artist as oposed to Jim Lee it wouldn't even be remebered. Because it's not very good.

Not really. I haven't read alot of Flash comics. I'm sad they depowered Wally tho. I liked him. I've never had any real conection to Barry given that I've not read much pre crisis with the flash in it.

i agree the killing joke long halloween/dark victory and the dark knight returns is better.....but it was still a very exciting and thrilliing series ......it kept me on the edge of my seat (i never had a book do that)........and jim lees art is amazing ..............they are making a absoulte hush book .

The only thing good about this story is the appreciation you gain for it after reading Hush Returns. Anyways, you can't throw in every villain into a story, knowing it will be collected, and expect people to take every character series. This goes for all strories including the classics like Arkham Asylum and Long Halloween. Unlike the mentioned stories, however, Hush suffers from any plot worth reading at all.

I guess the Year Long run on Batman: No Man's Land is still the best crossover story arc...

Jim Lee's art is great, perhaps for one major flaw...that is not being able to create a tense mood anywhere which he CLEARLY MENTIONED in the introduction so I dont blame him :)

And lastly, agreed that this book is alittle draggy, perhaps 1 TP will be enough...Jeph has the tendency of REPEATING speeches, whats happened before in the first few pages of the comic.

Idk if you've read the Dark tower comics. But those have a really tense mood. Of course it looks entirely diffrent from eerything else he's done.

it has cliché wirtten all over it, it is far too long and that even without a reason. 30% of the comic could easily have been cutted out and there would be no flawes in storytelling. you know from issue 2 on who hush is which makes it really repetitive to read in the first place. it's just the same old without ANYTHING new. that being said, i really don't like jim lee. i'm just not a fan of his style, he looks to clean, too sharp, too flawless without a real soul. typical 90's youngblood stuff.

hush is one of the few comicbooks i REALLY don't like... no... i almost HATE! hush might have been a decend comicbook back in the 80's where batman was reinvented as a dark and brooding character. for todays standards, it's just cliché. also this comic book would be really nice if jeph loeb just wouldn't have done the EXACT SAME STORY two times before (long halloween, dark victory). it's just so annoying to see that so many people love this comic when it really isn't that good.

well I just want to say that I think your wrong about the Joker part of the story... sure Batman has thought about killing the Joker before... however in hush he was going to do it and the way he was thinking how he could do it was really well done...

hey I haven't finished reading the No man's land series..... so don't spoil it for me... and in Death in that Family he wasn't over the jokers body thinking of horrible ways to kill him.... I mean in hush he says " I could pound his head into the pavement until his brains spilled out all over the sidewalk.... but I read Hush before Death in the Family so for me it was the first time... maybe that is why people like it better then you do... because it was new for them
