  • God abhors homosexuality. It is immoral.

  • I LOOOOVE the PINK cape!!

  • So why does muslims proliferate in this kind of videos, and some pretend christians who give nasty comments & only promote hate and disagrees totally of what is good? Why?

  • It was just reported today that the beatification process for Bishop Sheen is continuing : )

  • It is all airy-fairy platitudes. He does not want what this world has to offer? Then, please, commit the final act and go to your "god"Jesus did not exist, basta!I understand that old jc is the only man who ever suffered.Empty banalites all of it.Had he been born in arabia he would be an equally fervent muslim!

  • How could anyone hate this guy?! :-D

  • No one should hate him or any other person, but come on, the man is an obvious, self-regarding fraud. And foolish are those who are taken in by this tosh.

  • I was raised in the evangelical church. They would be shouting "Amen" throughout this sermon.

I really like the "extra time" filler. He's brilliant. Thanks so much for posting this video. I have to "favorite" this one. It's a classic.

  • @museargone What a "Christian" thing to say. Hahahaha!

  • A great speaker and holy man.

  • hum

  • Does God know anything about the loneliness of Jesus Christ as he lay dying on the cross: Flies crawling over his face. Driven mad with thirst. Agony in his body. Despair in his mind.

    Of course not.

  • @LimpLoser of course he does, because it was His Son who died on the cross

  • @LimpLoser Not to mention, God was Jesus, and Jesus was God, so.........

    ... you fail.

  • Alguien que lo traduzca al español con subtítulos para los que no sabemos el ingles.

    Gracias

  • God love him!

  • "If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world."

    (C.S. Lewis)

  • hahah! what a gift

  • This is too fucking funny

  • Its funny Jit, but the the Obey the lord demands that you love others and God? I Love the Lord and I love you... I will not judge you, or fight with you, because I believe that you are only saying what you say because it is the best knowledge that you have right now. We all fall short of love of God and one another, but I really wish we could all try to understand each other with love. Peace be with you, Friend

  • Bishop Sheen is an AMAZING preacher!

  • No True Christian Hate Homosexuals. But rather they hate what they do, or what they have become. Obviously, everyone in general cannot have the same rights, since some have committed crimes, and therefore have some rights taken from them.

  • Just like adulterer, rapist, and murderer are all proper terms for people who commit these crimes, so too, Sodomite is the correct term for homosexuals who commit the crime of sodomy.

    It is crime against nature.

Think all Christians are simple-minded and naive? - think again

  • Fuck this bullshit of equating homosexuality with rape, adultery, and murder. How on earth can consensual activity between consenting adults possibly be compared to these other crimes? Moreover, the statement that it's "against nature," aside from committing the naturalistic fallacy, is never backed up with evidence. Why? Because all the evidence points in the other direction, for homosexuality exists in thousands of species in the animal kingdom. It is perfectly natural, and it is not wrong.

  • Tell me, when was the last time that consensual sex between two consenting adults of the same sex ever hurt you or anybody you know? Answer that simple question; if you fail to do so, then you haven't a leg to stand on.

  • Do you commit homosexual acts?

  • Answer my question and I'll answer yours.

  • No need. You've already answered.

  • Are you going to answer my question or not?

  • No need. You've already answered mine, and that's all I sought.

  • How typical of a religious apologist to blatantly ignore a pertinent question and to slither away without ever having dealt with the issue whatsoever.

  • My question still stands for anybody else who isn't as much of a coward as Jitpring:

When was the last time the consensual sex between two consenting adults of the same sex ever hurt you or anybody you know?

If you fail to answer this question, as Jitpring did, then whatever weak claim to "piety" you might've had is null and void.

  • (Part 1)

Ok friend, I'll bite. Conformed to this age as you are, you hold that consent, choice, and pleasure are the sole criteria of the good (to the extent that - as the faithful subject of the dictatorship of relativism that you are - you believe in the good at all). Thus you can see no bases on which to reject homosexual activity other than these.

  • (Part 2)

There are other such bases. No need to cite them all, however, because one is sufficient: homosexual activity is repugnant to God and thus, in obedience to His will, we're to reject it. Consent is thus entirely irrelevant.

Yes, I know that this is repugnant to you, utterly unacceptable, having set yourself up above God. Your creed? The ancient one: Non servium.

  • (Part 3)

Dante indeed spoke of you and your ilk in his Inferno, Canto 20:

"Chi è più scellerato che colui

Che al giudicio divin passion comporta?"

    That is:

"Who is more evil than one

Who subordinates divine judgment to his passion?"

To repeat: Obedience to God's will demands the rejection of homosexual activity.

  • (Part 4)

This is entirely repulsive to you? Of course. For Shakespeare too had you pegged:

    "Wisdom and goodness to the vile seem vile;

    Filths savor but themselves."

    -Shakespeare, King Lear

    And:

"O shame, where is thy blush?"

    -Shakespeare, Hamlet

  • You've talked a lot about me and my "ilk," religiously condemning me using quotes from non-religious literature (pretty strange I must say, makes you look more pretentious than intelligent), but you actually never answered my question. When was the last time that consensual homosexual sex ever hurt YOU or ANYBODY you know? Don't slither away this time.

  • As I said, consent is irrelevant. In other words, though it be consensual and apparently harmless, homosexual acts are to be rejected on the basis of obedience alone.

But this is inconceivable for you. I understand. The acts you've committed, along with your conformity to this world, have polluted your mind and soul. Infinitely sad. Infinitely.

"Purity of thought requires purity of soul."

    -A.G. Sertillanges, The Intellectual Life

  • I didn't talk about rejectability, I asked a very simple and direct question, which you once again failed to answer. Has it ever hurt you or anybody you know? Answer the question!

  • Yes, indirectly it's hurt me, directly it's hurt several I know. No need to go into specifics, however, since whether or not it's done any harm to anyone is entirely irrelevant, as I've said.

This last point must again be mentioned because, of course, you're trying to show that if homosexual activity does no harm, then there's no reason to reject it. But, again, there is indeed, even if it does no harm.

You've obviously become incapable of seeing this, however. Thus I'm done.

  • Oh has it now? The specifics do matter here, because I'm quite doubtful of your genuineness. The fact that you keep trying to say that harmlessness is irrelevant only makes me think that in fact it has never done you any harm.

  • As you like.

  • @Irtidad Yes, I am curious too why Irtidad did not answer your question. Check out his/her channel--there is a Hindu symbol of a hand with an eye (the symbol used to ward off evil), but it looks like it is flipping the bird. Hindus take their religion as seriously as any Christian does. Would it be OK for me to depict Christ flipping the bird at Pilate? Just wondering.

  • @littlenickyn

When you say it's "preference," I think you may be a bit confused.

For gay-leaning people, it may indeed be little more than a feeling. They may face that feeling as a trial, and emerge from that trial holy and chaste. Such people are to be honored.

However, this feeling is a completely different thing from homosexual action; a perversion of the human body's most sacred and precious function; robbing it of its functionality, and devaluing it. These actions alone are sinful.

  • @littlenickyn

Responding in such a shameless, meaningless way only reveals your own ignorance and terror.

  • @littlenickyn It's not fascist to refer to others as simple minded and naive because your views are different from them?

  • @GabeLogin If we all truly loved and lived like Christ commanded us, we would not all seek love, salvation or peace on our own terms. It is a very simple/complex thing to love and not focus on sin as something we do not do in hopes we will achieve salvation. To call one who is gay, as we understand it today, a sodimite seems very out of touch with Ezekiel 16:49...

  • @cismdevelopment

The first thing that you say is quite true. To love as Jesus loved does not mean to seek love on our terms. It means to refuse anything that rebels against the terms set forth by God in both his teachings and his creation. This is the nature of love; to do what whe aught to do.

Once again; homosexual feelings are a mere trial. They are not sinful. However, to defame the sexual act by treating it as mere pleasure for any reason, in any way, is an abomination.

  • @GabeLogin Yeah, Jesus ate with sinners because he wanted to help them, and Jesus was persecuted for it. A true Christian (which by the way we are still bad in a sense) will not ritualize in homosexual conduct.

  • Where are the priest like this at today?

  • John Corapi is the closest we have right now in my opinion.

  • That was actually my exact follow up thought.

  • That cape is FAAAAAABULOUS!

  • it is ATONIST or Druidic. actually.

  • Does God know anything about being born a homosexual, hating it and feeling like killing yourself every day of the week. Wheres the Divine justice in that?

  • there is no such thing as being born a homosexual. In the same way, no one is born an adulterer, and no one is born a murderer. You become an adulterer when you commit adultery, you become a murderer when you murder. Now you may have the tendency to murder and picked up this tendency from one's experience or one way or another. But Christ's grace is sufficient. He gives more just according to one's needs.

  • I've never heard such blatantly ignorant nonsense in my life! People CAN be born homosexual, just as they can be born heterosexual, red haired, freckled, double jointed, excessively tall, having poor vision requiring glasses, etc..... IT'S CALLED GENETICS!!! Every single human being's DNA strands contain the code of life for what they will have for traits when they are born! This is just another good reason why I gave up on organized religion years ago.....it's full of nothing but crap!

  • Can you point me to the scienitific study that proves there is a gene for homosexuality? Because it seems to me that you ignorantly accepting this as fact. I'm quite certain there is still plenty of scienitific debate on this matter. If you blindly followed organized religion like you blindly follow science I would hope you give that up too.

  • To: GabeLogin

You're a horrible person. Do you have any loved ones who are gay? Perhaps you'd change your mind if you had a gay son.

And why are you Christian. Did the power of your fictitious god cause you to be born believing in none sense? Or were you raised and brainwashed to not accept an other beliefs outside of Christianity?

  • Truth does not change with changing circumstances. i.e. Murder is a crime no matter who commits it.

You may present to me any proposed beliefs you may have.

  • @ASilvershade Then you have the wrong frame of mind. We all have our spirits and temptresses to fight off. Homosexuality is little different from other temptations like pornography, food, alcohol, tobacco, life-risking adventures, drugs, computers, and other addictive things which we grow into.

We just have to give up our temptors to God and beg for His Divine Intervention, and believe it will come through. And, of course, you are not alone. It's not easy staving off the will to masturbate.

  • @ASilvershade You are right.....I am certain Jesus felt the pain and accepted and loved and prayed for the homosexual person

  • Motivational and great sense of humor, Bishop Sheen was a diocesan priest, meaning he did not belong to an order, like Franciscans, Jesuits, etc. The diocesan priest runs church and school; he takes a vow of chastity, while the ordered priests take vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Many churches have the ordered priests but the diocesan are there as appointed by the diocese or the overseers of the Catholics in a large area, like the Diocese of Chicago, or the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

  • Was Sheen a member of any order, like the Jesuits, etc? From what I can tell he was not. But I could be wrong.

  • He seems like he had a very down-to-earth demeanor and a great sense of humor.

  • People are allowed to have doubts about religion?

    Seriously?

I thought it was considered...a form of lack of trust or unfaithfulness.

Maybe there is room for me, with all my questions and wrestling with God after all.

  • Without temptation to overcome, there would be no glory. Doubt is the temptation to despair. It's not a sin if you truly wrestle with it, like Jacob wrestled with God.

Good luck in your search. Pray hope and don't worry my friend.

  • what kind of questions do you have?

  • Well...I have doubts that originally Jesus was supposed to be viewed as the "Son of God." When you look at the first Gospel to be written (Mark) it doesn't have anything in there of the virgin birth and all that stuff that Matthew and Luke later put in. So far as I know, St. Paul also never wrote of the virgin birth and all that. So what do we make of that??

  • Not all of the gospels speak of the Virgin birth. The fact that God sent His angel Gabriel to ask permission from Mary for the virgin birth says alot about God and Mary. You cannot separate Jesus from Mary, God needed both to do His work on earth. Look into the Catholic faith, they wrote the original bible which everyone in the world quotes from.

  • Comment removed

  • @tlh215

Most definitely. They shouldn't foster those doubts intentionally, but they should seek answers for them, so that when they find those answers, the doubts can never challenge them again. This is an act of faith too; the continuing struggle to learn the faith, in order to protect it within one's own heart.

As Bishop Sheen himself once said, there would be no crowns of glory for those who did not fight!

  • Brilliant.

  • Did you know that he checked his own sermons by delivering them in French and Italian to clarify his own thoughts? By doing it in a different language, he was able to find nuances in his statements and go back and refine whatever was necessary.

  • You must have read his autobiography. I own it, and have read it twice.

  • cheesemonkey: no I don't have his autobiography. Can't remember where I read that.

  • well, its in his auto bio too, God love you!

  • Why aren't people like him still on T.V.?Fulton J.Sheen is a saint and a prophit.I urge people to watch his shows if they have access. He has really changed my life and I'm a generation away from him.GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!!!

  • I have had a similar experience: His book "The priest is not his own has helped me realize my calling to the priesthood better than any other priest I know personally!

  • What a wonderful speaker he was. So cute and funny. I love him.

  • It's about using life's circumstances to help us grow, to become a better person than we were before these situations came about. It's about looking back and saying, "I am glad to have taken this road, for the person it helped me become." Even trees don't get their strength from the calm , but also from surviving some of the toughest of storms.

  • this guy rocks.

  • great sermon

  • This man was preachin'! Preach, Doc!

  • Why are those of us who stand up for what is right... on the defensive? Amazing how turned around so much has become.

  • Like the words, but the acting style is a little Charlton Heston...

  • I really loved his opening joke about the contact lenses. My mother grew up on his shows, and I can see why she loved watching him so much. Where are the Fulton Sheens of today?

  • although no one could ever match him, there are people like Fr. John Corapi and Dr. Scott Hann, but they are no where near as good as him. I wounder how many young kids back in the day saw him on TV and said, "I want to be like Bishop Sheen one day."

  • @Sarakiel Fr. Robert Barron is one. Check him out here on youtube.

  • someblackguy1923 - your social experiment backfired. It only proves your preoccupation with skin color, yourself. Whether you admit or deny it, you're as racist as anybody you're accusing of...you picked the right stone to throw, man...

  • I love it! What a wonderfull gift of wisodm. God love you to bishop! I wish I could have met you.

  • I do not in believe in atheist....whether you're black, yellow, brown or green...or even off-white -it's just PURE INTELLECTUAL PRIDE and you know it...fooling yourself to think your faith on nothing is base on science.

  • With all the cynicism, hatred, hypocracy and anger that consume his/her whole being, sebreathach must be a very sad, lonely entity. And to assume most christians would be saying a prayer or two for him/her is just like whistling in the dark...other good souls may but not me...a prayer is a privilege not a right - and you don't have that...YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN, man....

  • This proves, once again, of Bishop Sheen's greatness cause he can attract even somebody with a very limited intellect that can only use a fictional show like 'The Life of Brian"' as a mean to drive a point...tsk..tsk...

  • Thank You for posting!

God Bless Bishop Fulton J. Sheen. I will pray for all of the lost people and there sad mean spirited post. Live and let live, but some of you do not seem to get that. Why be so hateful?

    God Bless Us All

  • I think these pictures are from 'The Life of Brian'. That was the film that was banned in America.. I think Fulton applied for a part but he was turned down: too histrionic! Personally, I can see him as either Brian or John Cleese, but there was a part for a preacher and a comedian... who knows, he might have been a condender...

  • Don't you believe in anything? How sad. Maybe you should listen to what Bishop Sheen has to say. It might very well make a difference in your life.

  • lol and another one with a silly myth

  • No one is a real whore, but Luther and his decieved followers. U r not following Christ the Lord. U R following the theories of Luther the Whore.

  • Luther = apostate

    Luther = heretic

  • Here, yet I do agree that you need christ alone, and christ is in the catholic church. So I think I will stick with what I got...

  • How sad for you to say this. You surely did not listen to the audio.

  • May the light of christ belss you and gives you the understanding to return to the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church

  • Dear someblackguy1923:

I am gratefully sorry for slickskillet123's attitude. I am not a Catholic, I am a Christian, but I do not agree with the comments made.

I did not make the comments, but I am apologizing, anyway, and he or she has a problem. May the Lord bless you. In Christ - KAMIKAZR

  • Thanks, KAMIKAZR, but I am not really African-American. I made this account name as a social experiment. slickskillet123's comments were racist and anti-Christian. Yes, he/she definitely has issues and needs to re-read his catechism! :-)

  • I was not aware that Hitler gave sermons on loneliness. I was not aware that Hitler dedicated his life to helping the poor. Trutfully, my friend I have no idea what you are talking about -- do you? God Love You!

  • you believe everything you read?does he have any hard facts.i doubt it.

  • Are you listening? Thomas Reeves, in my opinion, makes a solid case for Sheen's fraud.

The EVIDENCE, FACTS, PROOF, etc. that you are seeking, that you keep demanding and asking about, are in his BOOK, which I keep requesting over and over that you read. Thomas Reeves is a scholar and EWTN endorsed author.

After you read the book, please make your case. You are frustrating. LOL.

  • 1) I am not African-American. I can understand the confusion, however. :-)

    2) I am not religious. I am an atheist.

    3) Your comment was racist. Don't you know that racism is gravely sinful? It's in the catechism. Do you want me to cite the particular articles in the catechism? It seems you are unable to look up things yourself, so please let me know if I can assist you.

  • what's the name of the book you cunt.

  • Catholic missionaries are not social workers. they would be social workers if they do not pray. They first retreat "contemplate, meditate, pray" then go out to serve, ready to see God in every Human being. This shows not everything is WORK.

  • Kamikazr, all christians are called to deny themselves and pick up their cross. God told us to live holy for He is holy.

Works are not required for salvation, but they are required to honor God and his sacrifice for us nearly 2000 years ago. They are required to be a light to other men. Following the example of Christ and doing good works is the best life God has for us. It's hard for some people to realize until they are in it long enough.

  • I used to look up to Fulton J. Sheen until I learned that the good Bishop faked an academic degree to get ahead in the world. I believed that he would become a Saint, but I now no longer believe this is a possibility in light of the above. Then again, if the Church can canonize the non-existent Juan Diego, erasing this terrible fraud from Fulton J. Sheen's record should be no problem with the Vatican's unholy broom.

  • How did you learn that the good bishop faked an academic degree?, and from where you learned that?, and how did you come about proving that St. Juan Diego did not exist?

  • For more about his invented Sacrae Theologiae Doctor, I would recommend reading Thomas Reeves' biography of Sheen, "America's Bishop." It gives ample coverage of the story behind his second 1928 doctorate.

  • By their fruits, you shall know them. Hence, all these accusations are false.

  • Yes, read the book by Thomas Reeves. Thomas Reeves is a faithful Roman Catholic. EWTN allowed him to promote his book on the World Over with Raymond Arroyo, an interview which prompted me to purchase the book, because, as a Sheen fan, I couldn't believe my ears. Despite the fake degree (and the horror Sheen's fans would feel toward this fraud), Reeves still believes Fulton deserves to be a saint. I don't. No way.

  • What prove does the author have of Bishop Sheen faking his Degree?

  • Amen. If he's talking fruits, the fruits are there. If that's the case, we have to rip all of Paul's letters out of the NT... cause we know he hunted Christians and even stood at the stoning of Stephen (yeah, the disciples had trust issues with him i'm sure).

I hope God takes his suggestions on how certain people (all perfect like himself), be the only ones he works through. We wouldn't want a testimony or an example.

  • St.Paul used to be an evil person, and he did evil deeds. After his conversion, his fruits had changed. In the case of Bishop Sheen, if he had faked his degreee, he would be dishonest every second of his life, because all Archbishops reguire good education. If he had been a dishonest person, God would not have poured His grace on Him. Thank you

  • Gabe,

Sheen listed his fake doctorate in his books throughout his life, not just the beginning.

  • Sounds like you have a bigger problem than Fulton Sheen. Go pray on it, instead of lashing out.

  • you are full of shit, you cannot produce one ounce proof.

  • Well, it's clear you hate the Church, so there's not much one can really say to you. In any case, the Church will provide a harsher litmus test against his cause for canonization than you. Far from sweeping with "an unholy broom", the Church invented the term "devil's advocate." He did good, get over it, even if it's true, which I don't think it is.

  • Jacobitess,

The discovery of his fraud wasn't from my own investigation. It was discovered by the historian Thomas Reeves. I don't think Ratzinger will be phoning me to play the devil's advocate. I was just relaying the facts from Reeves' book. Read the book before you make up your mind.

Guys, read the book. If you think that Reeves makes a bad case, I'll listen to your argument. I won't accuse you of having "personal issues".

  • "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

  • I felt it as saying, God knows about lonliness as we do not just because He's omniscient but because He experienced it as being Jesus in this world. And He conquered this world and its lonliness with His humility and love which is what he alludes to in his ending. Its about the trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, all seperate and all One.

  • it's actually a very stupid question. If God is omniscient, then I would say he'd know... oh, ALL about being lonely? Yes?

  • The Bishop's intention is to ask whether God has ever felt lonliness, Since He is God with the company of all the angels, Cherubim and Seraphim, it would be the last thing that He would feel lonely. Thank you

  • Then again, God has no equal. He is infinitely superior to all things. He might as well be surrounded by rocks, and rocks don't make very good company.

  • It is in His delight to do so. He Deserves all Majesty and Praise

  • Just wondering why he's yelling?

  • Out of his desire for his viewers to understand that lonliness is inevitable.

  • It's the passion in his voice. It's a voice crying in the dark. Can't you hear it? Can't you see it?

  • I have heard it, have sought it for so long! Blessed Bishop Sheen, please wait for those who need you.

  • I discovered the blessed Bishop Sheen while my mother was in hospital and have been an avid follower ever since. It's always good to see him again. Of course that grand cape is always impressive. My dad used to quip, "Well, it's Batman!"

  • Thanks for putting the Bishop on here, he is the best, I asked ewtn if they might release more....

  • Thanks for posting! The message spans the generations.

He thought the Holy were on the defensive. Two things: nothing has changed, and I wonder what he would say about life today.

  • i watched this man while i lived in pittsburgh on garlow blvd in plum.

  • I found Jesus when I was alone in a new city, raising my son alone and I am glade that I had the opportunity to be alone for few years because my heart got so much much closer to God adn Saint Marie!I used to have tons of freinds but felt always empty inside! Now I feel much completed.People around me think because I am lonely that I have to be miserable but I can not feel more happier and more fulfilled then ever!
