Katherine Chancellor had her first facelift in1983 &so did Jeanne Cooper who plays K.C. & allowed her real life facelift to be filmed for Y&R's storyline. So that was a first "Makeover" for any soap on National TV. The ABC soaps always lacked luster in my opinion & the same goes for NBC. I seen a recent episode of OLTL the acting is horrible & think that all those hunks will draw viewers. Being a hunk doesnt mean they will have talent and they dont.
I will always respect Y&R for so many things, but it was NOT the first soap with a social conscience. Agnes Nixon's ONE LIFE TO LIVE featured African Americans as regular cast members from the beginning, as well as a Polish family, and a Catholic-Jewish couple. Also, OLTL tackled drug addiction, racial prejudice and sexually-transmitted diseases before Y&R even hit the airwaves. Agnes Nixon's ALL MY CHILDREN did the facelift story years before Y&R did.
