Another WoW clone great... Only thing keeping me from hating this even more is the fact it uses the same engine(and possibly gamestyle) of Star Wars Galaxies(which closed sadly). BTW im not a fucking WoW nerd but it seems the same with that big ass armor and shit.

My comp runs it at 258 fps on highest settings... but I also have one of the best systems on earth. Most people I know are happy with 30 fps and on lego-mode

Wait.. EQ2 doesn't suck. It doesn't suck at all. It's actually quite good. It sucked at release (and some years after) but EQ2 has probably the most developed crafting, questing and overall game world of any current MMO. Hell, it's not even as hard as it used to be and it's STILL more challenging than current MMO's.

EQ2 is nothing like WoW. They're in the same genre but all other similarities are coincidental (and in the case you've provided, completely subjective). EQ had raids before WoW raiders knew what raiding was. EQ2 came out before WoW and built on what wow borrowed from: EQ1. Believe me, there's nothing about WoW that the average EQ'er is left wanting; "Deathwing" included.
@DemiousStudios Except all the EQ players went to play WoW which is why millions play WoW and "thousands" play EQ2. Because WoW did everything better. Yes, Cataclysm/Deathwing did suck bad. WoW is on the decline.
EQ's players went to WoW because it was new; not because it was "better". WoW appealed to those that were unfamiliar with the genre because of it's ease of play from the outset. That's not to take away from WoW challenges in later levels. However, WoW eased up on alot of the typical mainstays of EQ: Harsh death penalties, long spawn timers, crowded dungeons with wait lists, and ungodly slow leveling. Those things don't make a game "better"; they simply make it more 'accessible'.
Additionally, EQ2's release was rife with bugs. They rushed it to market to be able to compete with WoW. At the time, there was no question that WoW had a finer polish. This was mainly because the scope was far lower than EQ2. EQ2 tried to do too much. If EQ2 had released in its current state, this would be a far different conversation. WoW cannot hold a candle to EQ2 in its current state.

WoW never had 20 million active subscribers at one time. The max it EVER had during one month was a little over 12 million. What you're referring to is the total number of accounts. Check your facts next time.

but honestly Ultima Online had the most influence over Runescape. Runescape entirely ripped off of Ultima Online, where as Everquest only really took the pay per month for an online game idea, the actual gameplay was nothing like Ultima. What the youngster WoW players will see in about 6-8 years is when the next MMO comes out and does exactly what WoW did to EQ, all the kids will comment on WoW videos saying how bad it looked and that it was a rip off. as far as EQ2 vs. WoW, world of warcraft definitely takes the win. i was a die hard EQ fan as a kid but i do not know what Sony was thinking during the making of everquest 2. although i probably got more enjoyment out of WoW then i did EQ, i respect everquest so much more for making such a bold move towards defining the genre. WoW was better - yes, but because it took what was already done and had made it better. EQ had nothing like it at the time, besides Ultima.

Everquest 1 is still running and charging its subscribers. Everquest 2 was built with the idea that processors would be 5ghz, 6ghz and not designed for multi-core 2.x-3.x ghz processors. As a result the frame rates take a major hit EVEN if you have nice graphics card (since they put most of the load on the CPU). Then you got 10,000 people playing the new expansion while you sit at home decorating and you are basically left with a choice. Buy the expansion for 50-60 bucks or always be left out
Everquest Is the best mmorpg there is. There are soooo many things better about it then there is in WoW. Plus it don't have ads with fucking Mr T and Chuck Norris In em, And I should not be talking cus I have I Level 70+ Rouge On EQ.
Ok the ads are gay for WoW but being stuck in shitty areas trying to level your guys is also gay. So are the framerates for computers that went multi-core(everyone)instead of faster 4ghz, 5ghz, 6ghz single cores (no one). EQ2 was coded wrong and they won't fix it. It'll never run well even if you have 2 awesome GPUs. This and the lack of options while leveling,are fail. I like how they show the game in the highest settings, most computers will not run at that rate, shadows, partical effects, animations, texturing.
My comp runs it at 258 fps on highest settings... but I also have one of the best systems on earth. Most people I know are happy with 30 fps and on lego-mode

Wait.. EQ2 doesn't suck. It doesn't suck at all. It's actually quite good. It sucked at release (and some years after) but EQ2 has probably the most developed crafting, questing and overall game world of any current MMO. Hell, it's not even as hard as it used to be and it's STILL more challenging than current MMO's.

EQ2 is nothing like WoW. They're in the same genre but all other similarities are coincidental (and in the case you've provided, completely subjective). EQ had raids before WoW raiders knew what raiding was. EQ2 came out before WoW and built on what wow borrowed from: EQ1. Believe me, there's nothing about WoW that the average EQ'er is left wanting; "Deathwing" included.

EQ's players went to WoW because it was new; not because it was "better". WoW appealed to those that were unfamiliar with the genre because of it's ease of play from the outset. That's not to take away from WoW challenges in later levels. However, WoW eased up on alot of the typical mainstays of EQ: Harsh death penalties, long spawn timers, crowded dungeons with wait lists, and ungodly slow leveling. Those things don't make a game "better"; they simply make it more 'accessible'.

Additionally, EQ2's release was rife with bugs. They rushed it to market to be able to compete with WoW. At the time, there was no question that WoW had a finer polish. This was mainly because the scope was far lower than EQ2. EQ2 tried to do too much. If EQ2 had released in its current state, this would be a far different conversation. WoW cannot hold a candle to EQ2 in its current state.

Not to mention the only people left are die-hard fans that bemoan any other MMO and will berate a new player if he so much as mentions WoW. Ok, sorry for calling you a moron. I've played EQ2 and it is garbage, it looks so bad it's almost unplayable. Graphics aren't everything, in fact I love mine craft, but in EQ2 everything looks like it doesn't belong and the animation is awful.

@SvetYakov333 Yes, the 7 year old game is experiencing player drop off, but most likely MoP will bring subs back up, not drop down. People who QQ about the Panda's are too ignorant to look beyond the game title and see a wealth of content that is coming via PVE scenarios, Pet Battling (I know it's poke'mon, but everyone loves poke'mon), new continent to explore with ONLY ground mounts, Horde vs Alliance increased, Timed dungeons, ect. MoP looks like it will be a great xpac.

but honestly Ultima Online had the most influence over Runescape. Runescape entirely ripped off of Ultima Online, where as Everquest only really took the pay per month for an online game idea, the actual gameplay was nothing like Ultima. What the youngster WoW players will see in about 6-8 years is when the next MMO comes out and does exactly what WoW did to EQ, all the kids will comment on WoW videos saying how bad it looked and that it was a rip off. And you'll all be pretty pissed off

as far as EQ2 vs. WoW, world of warcraft definitely takes the win. i was a die hard EQ fan as a kid but i do not know what Sony was thinking during the making of everquest 2. although i probably got more enjoyment out of WoW then i did EQ, i respect everquest so much more for making such a bold move towards defining the genre. WoW was better - yes, but because it took what was already done and had made it better. EQ had nothing like it at the time, besides Ultima.

Everquest 1 is still running and charging its subscribers. Everquest 2 was built with the idea that processors would be 5ghz, 6ghz and not designed for multi-core 2.x-3.x ghz processors. As a result the frame rates take a major hit EVEN if you have nice graphics card (since they put most of the load on the CPU). Then you got 10,000 people playing the new expansion while you sit at home decorating and you are basically left with a choice. Buy the expansion for 50-60 bucks or always be left out

Ok the ads are gay for WoW but being stuck in shitty areas trying to level your guys is also gay. So are the framerates for computers that went multi-core(everyone)instead of faster 4ghz, 5ghz, 6ghz single cores (no one). EQ2 was coded wrong and they won't fix it. It'll never run well even if you have 2 awesome GPUs. This and the lack of options while leveling,are fail. I was definitely stoked to get back in to try this game. I was a beta and launch player. To my dismay they have absolutely NEUTERED the spell particle effects system. What was once very visceral and jarring lightning strikes! Is now an EQlivesque drizzle of abysmal particles. The crack of thunder was replaced with...well a tired sea lion moan. That is only one spell in the Wizard's line up.
This and the fact that they refuse to even let you toggle on the original spell effects has obliterated
