  • Best album I've heard in a LONGLONG time.

  • IM IN LOVE WITH MAGICAL MAPLE SYRUP!!

  • So far it's great except for three songs.

Only thing i'm not loving is the vocals, they sound good, but I find the lyrics really hard to understand and Josh has WAY to much reverb on most of the tracks, execpt for the first like 3 of the tracks.

  • i hear what you mean about the vocals, but it isnt too bad- ive heard a whole lot worse.

  • awesome song.jpj is amazing i fukin love his bass work, and pretty much all his session musician work too.

  • alright, since this is a "public fucking forum" i will compare this band to the chipmunks. hows that for an opinion deuchetard?!!

  • You Got a Killer Scene There, Man(Lullabies to Paralyze) great song...

  • savage, could listen to this madness stretched tight round my head endless,

  • THE shit!

By far my favourite song on the album.

  • Hi. This is just what I expected by this formation of musicians. That's just my favorite style of music. The song itself is just the perfect fusion between blues and heavy.

  • this might be a silly question but do you know jon spencer blues explosion? or try soundgarden's cover of smokestack lightning.

  • music is the way it is because of what came before it. there's nothing wrong with comparing this music with other bands. otherwise there is no other way to determine its roots.

  • All of you are you fucking assholes, and should feltch your grandmothers...... No one cares about what any of you think.........

  • including you, lol

  • no one cares what you think too...so please if dont have anything to say, dont write things that make you look like the biggest asshole in this comments, or the greatest looser

  • I agree with the heavier Doors sound. The background singing just screams Doors. A lot of classic rock influence like on Scumbag Blues (Cream). This has been my favorite song so far in the album. Butttt I did notice the lack of really definite guitar solos, which I find slightly disappointing. Other than that it's a great album. And can we please stop bashing the younger generation? I'm 19 and'd like to think I have a decent taste in music. I listen to primarily classic rock and 60's R&B. : P

  • This sounds exactly like Them Crooked Vultures.

  • LOL Yes, it does, doesn't it? Sounds just like their first album... ;)

  • i am so damn fuckin sick of all of you people who compare music artists with each other. every musician has their own style so dont fuckin compare people. YOU ARE NOT GOD! YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUDGE!! so all of you alien deuchetards fuck off if you dont have the capacity to enjoy/appreciate music

  • Get over it.

People compare artists in music and art. People compare writers in literature, and athletes in sports.

Everyone has the right to compare and judge bands because it's subjective. Every musician has their own style, sure, but they can be compared to other artists, and rightfully so.

You're so wrong, and it's funny that you think you can throw insults around at people who do compare artists. It's not a big deal. Get over it.

  • Amen brother!!!

  • Aren't you judging people in this message?

  • kinda sounds like a heavier doors but still amazing

  • Great doors homage

  • maybe it's something you fight with, instead of a city? ;-)

  • love the bass arpeggios at around 2:50

  • Dave's A MADMAN!

  • hes a fuckin monster drummer!! one of the best drummers alive!

its too damn bad that my band cant find a fuckin decent drummer.... dave needs a clone

  • I have may never hear a truer truth again \m/

  • Can you people stop comparing TCV to Queens of the Stone Age please? No shit it's gonna sound similar to QOTSA

  • werd :P

  • Comment removed

  • shweet! this is awesome!! two thumbs up man :P

  • This tune has a "God is on the Radio" vibe to it.

    Nice.

  • Damn, epic song

  • "...Or The First Breath You Take After You Give Up"

    think about it

  • my opinion...mysic and art in general is inspiration.born by it and providing it also...its not a damn circus for posers dude....just because you can play it easily doesnt mean its not a great inspiration...i believe its even more inspiring when its simple....

  • lol. Who cares who can play what, and how good they might be?! Isn't the beauty of music in the eye of the beholder? Just enjoy the music dudes!

  • long live the ussr

  • Oh Yeah!!! This song is the answer to all those who question wether the blues is relevant in 2009 or not. Granted, it's not Muddy Water revisited, or even late 60s Clapton revisited, but that's hardly the point now is it... The blues is at the heart of all good rock music and this track is testimony to that fact. Oh, and do I hear some of the ol' Zep wibe in there somewhere...

  • I HAVE THE ALBUM! ITUNES AUSTRIA! love it

  • the only thing acceptable to throw at ANY artist on stage is panties

  • seriously , you are vulnerable as hell onstage , and you don't know what it may be they are throwing, (plus it scares the shit out of you , which is embarassing . )Anyone who berates Homme for calling out that kid has never been onstage .

  • and weed (as long as it's good quality)

  • @FreedomFighterUK agreed

  • yeah stop with ur little bitchfightin.

honestly just caus u dont think he can solo doesn't mean he sucks.thats just ur little opinion that ovbiously no one agrees with. so keep it to urself

  • Vultures rock the shiz niz

  • dude your a fucking retard. stop getting in bitchfights on youtube and get a life....or better yet just listen to the song and appreciate its sexy beats.

  • who gives a shit the song is good.peace

  • I actually totally agree with DRsideburns in a way, Josh is clearly a genius and had done great work in this album. But he really needs to bring someone else in to solo if its going to be longer than about 10 seconds. This album is the tits however and is the best album to be released in a long while!

  • Come off it man! Homme is a great guitarist, his style is more blues than anything else, a Paul Gilbert style mega-solo isn't really appropriate here.

I read a review by NME (bunch of fashion following robots) who said this song has too much guitar and wouldn't appeal to 'the masses' but JLS appeals to the masses so thank fuck for that!

BTW, if you like guitar listen to 'technical difficulties' by Paul Gilbert. The man has paranormal technique.

Them Crooked Vultures are v.good too!

  • kk, i get what you mean. but still, people take alot of hard work and dedication to make decent music, so IT IS RUDE/ IMPOLITE to compare different music artists to one another.

no one is forcing you snotnosed pinheads to listen to music- dont force yourself to listen to music everyone else likes. if you hear what you dont like, go have the guts to shut it off.

this is REAL music. the choice is yours- listen and enjoy, or turn it off.... and STOP JUDGING/ COMPARING...ITS ANNOYING!!

  • comparing people's work is rude? you're an idiot.

do you have a band you don't like? i bet that band did a lot of hard work to put out the music you don't like. do you compare it to bands you do like? sure. it's natural.

this is a public fucking forum and it exists for people to voice their opinions. you get to air your bullshit about coddling bad bands and nobody can call a turd what it is? get a clue, mate.

  • Hello people, lets not get away from the fact that this album great!

3 fantastic muscians having a great time making music didn't do it for people to argue over.

  • i knew the faggot thing would be brought up. then i'm sure you've seen the other videos and recordings where he rips on douchebag kids who through shit. he's been fighting that battle for a long time. and good on him. that is totally unacceptable. and the kid was most likely being a faggot. as are the large amount of drunken douchebags at concerts are prone to do.

  • oh jesus christ. actually, josh homme's balls ARE big. he wears fame quite well, even though he's never chased after it. and solo's aren't always about speed. amoricanguitarist is right. try listening to blues solos. this isn't metal. and where did this 'josh homme is a douche bag' sentiment come from? i've never seen josh do anything the least douchey.

    and no, i'm not a josh homme fan-boy. i'm a good music fan-boy.

  • he was an arsehole to the emo kid that threw something at him. surely you've seen the video. not that he should have done it but josh was a real prick to him.

  • lol who cares that kid is a prick faggot, josh is a beast

  • omg actually laughing out loud, thank you sir, thank you :)

  • DRsideburns: I look forward to the release of your next album. I hear it's called "I'm Jealous Cause I Think I'm an Awesome Guitarist but I Can Only Cover Other People's Music as I'm Not Creative Enough to Write My Own Music". A bit long if you ask me, but I think it's appropriate.

  • I can shorten it for you:

    "Douchebag"

  • Them Crooked Vultures

  • Not every song has to be all about wicked solo's there's only so many times you can do that before everything sounds the same! The Main point is they capture a crazy good fusion of killer rock bands.

  • LOVE IT

  • It COULD be the new Queens album, because every Queens of the Stone Age album so far, has been a completely different animal.

Does it really matter? I wholeheartedly invite the Crooked Vultures to the zoo of good music.

  • It sounds like Them Crooked Vultures

  • 4:10 - 4:58, cant you just imagine josh's guitar spontaneously combusting. lol

  • Maybe that's not what TCV are about?

  • i never said they were. i was replying to conaldo1993, who was acting as if the solo was hardcore.

  • Josh isn't about showing off, going "lookit me and how fast I can play," he's about expressing his incredibly unique personality through his solos, and he usually succeeds in doing so quite well... I feel the solo here is a good example of that.

  • @DRsideburns - Way to completely misunderstand Them Crooked Vultures.

  • go listen to malmsteen , or some other soulless shit

  • yoo me too..good fuckin sound

  • Love the Doors feel of this song.

  • @beewill007 yeah i just realised it too huh, very much so.

  • Them Zeppelinfighters Of The Crooked Age

  • Queens of the Crooked Led Fighters

  • it was a hard, long, violent, stoneing trip. but i survived.

  • Fighters of the Zep Age

  • Foo Queens of the Zep Age

  • This song's repeated riff is very similar to one from 'The Fun Machine took a Shit and Died', easily the sexiest QOTSA song.

  • The instrumental part of that song always blows me away :D

  • Kings of the Led Age

  • lol

  • I can feel the fun machine.

  • God dam love the riff starting at 4:00 ish.

  • reminds me of "God is in the Radio" a little bit. That's not a bad thing though. I like it.

  • god what a bass line. funk it up johnny!

  • I see at least ten of these on the popular board. Guess it is popular!

  • i dont kno y but the chorus reminds me of some other song but i just cant think of it...damn

  • DONT BOTHER

  • its OR, typo guys

  • @iappreciatetexture If it was supposed to be Or, the vid wouldn't have "of"

  • Anyone else notice in the title it says "Warsaw OR..." but in the video it says "Warsaw OF..."

  • Yeah, it's been pissing me off! I think it's "OR", as "OF" doesn't make sense...

  • 4:10 guitar wicked section.

  • WOOOw this is goooood.

  • I remember Josh using the phrase "the first breath you take after you give up" to describe a QOTSA song, but I can't remember which one. Can anyone remember?

  • @Ninjamonkey767 i saw someone else talking about the same thing, and they said they thought it was turnin' on the screw. so maybe thats what you're thinking; dunno tho.

  • This is a high quality listen the whole way through. So good to have some great new rock n roll to listen to!

  • I hear some Bowie in there...

  • Ahh yes Alain Johannes, the master, Of the great band... Eleven

  • when they play live, is Homme the ONLY guitarist or is there some dude in the back somewhere filling in...?

  • there is a fourth band member who also played in queens of the stone age

  • no it's the guitarist of Eagles Of Death Metal

    but only live I think

  • Alain Johannes, qotsa, saw them live :P

  • na saw them live its Alain Johannes, not dave catching the guitarist from qotsa, definatelt isn't cos it was reading weekend, and eagles of death metal where there also, still dosen't mean it aint a great song...

  • @dougjim8 who is Alain Johannes? what band is he from? and did he record on the album?

  • from the band called "eleven" qotsa's unofficial keyboard player was from that band too before she died

  • He's an additional guitarist for Queens of the Stone Age. He performs with them on tour but he didn't record anything with them on the album as far as I know.

  • He was in a relationship with said lady her name being natasha something i forget, R.I.P poor lady, anyway Alain Johannes has also helped and toured with QOTSA, and the desert sessions, i don't know if he recorded on the album or whether the other guitar stuff was done by Josh, but he does definately tour with them, hope this helps

  • theres another guy on guitar when they play live, i saw them in boston

  • alain johannes

  • saw them at pukkelpop, one of their first shows, also there; EODM

I can assure you they played that show with big old dave catching

  • another guitarist....not sure if lead or not....probably

  • Can't wait to hear a quality version...

  • Haha. Funny guy.

  • All of this is incredible, thank god for this occurence in history

  • yeeeeah buddy this is fantastic

  • 4:00 on, this song is so fucking good best new thing I've heard in years

  • 2:16 "I get HIGH, now you got something to look up to" ...nice!

  • in dutch, it's not a typo, just a translation :). good thinking TCV :)

  • my favorite song on the album. absolutely incredible! i love the keyboards and the slide guitar on the whole album!!!

  • best on album

  • AWESOOOOOOOOOME!!!

  • ROCK!

  • This is awesome...

I hear so much Zeppelin that I'm starting to think Jimmy Page gets WAY too much credit. JPJ!

  • this song kinda has vibes of someones in the wolf...well i think so... hehe

cannot wait for the album to come out!!

  • makes me almost forget the disappointment Led Zep didn't do the comeback... just almost... but amazing tracks, can't wait to see them live

  • this is simply fucking great, i dont have many other words i just love it, thanks for comin to aus on your tour guys

  • Loving this whole album, this track is my shizznikel yo'!

  • What a battleship!

  • They fucked up on the title

  • LA, LA LA LA LA!

  • except for the good bands of that genre

  • josh's voice drives me crazy... with desire. this whole album is good foreplay.

  • this is the true evolution of music, the melding of old with new both in talent and style. i just can't get enough of these guys.

  • god these guys rocked so fucking hard live!!

  • do like the slight tempo buildup after the middle

  • Dirty dirty dirty dirty dirty.... FRESHHHH!!!

  • reminds me of "Song for the Deaf," mixed with "The Fun Machine Took A Shit and Died" .. good stuff though

  • The Fun Machine Took A Shit and Died" is one of the best rock songs...ever!

  • It does actually have a "Lullabies to Paralyze" vibe, don't you think?

  • Has anyone else noticed that the banner in the video definitely says 'Warsaw *of* The First Breath . . .'? That's embarrassing.

  • what is this i don't even

  • I feel like this is finally a band I can get truly passionate about... Although I know they won't last forever because we all know it's just a side project.. but still... God damn...

  • In interviews Jones and Grohl both never commented on it being a side project. They both eluded to the idea that the band will go on as long as it needs to. Both Foo Fighters and QOTSA are on a bit of a break right now, so it wouldn't surprise me to see another album outta the Vultures after this

  • I'm hearing alot of 'The Zombies Ate My Neighbors' esque sounds and vibes coming from this song. WHICH IS FUCKING GREAT!

  • I don't get those vibes, but you get big kudos for knowing the song!!

  • ROCK IS BACK BITCHES

  • Words cannot accurately describe how amazing this is.

  • Then it is ineffable. That is the word you're looking for.

  • This song is giving me god damn chills.

  • arg I'm stick to this page I cant close it raaaaa.... really addictive Band !

  • This record gets me interested in blues again!

  • The Lord is Great! Them Crooked Vulchers are GOD LIKE!

  • unghhh!!

  • it's speeding...go boy!
