@mydevilcat great movie after great movie? not really. i've loved RDJ forever. Chaplin was prob the biggest movie he did pre- Iron Man. he was more famous for his battles in the media -- we followed this train wreck happening. the thing with RDJ is people DID see the great talent. it was just a shame that he was throwing his life away. NOW he is where he could of been all this time and people are glad to see a happy ending with him. NOW he is making big movies people will see.

@foxpawz i see your point too on this yet i don't think any of Robert's latest movies with the exception of IRON MAN and TROPIC THUNDER have matched up to the work he did years ago. He had a bit of freedom to play some really interesting and unique characters which is why I LOVED HIM so much. My blame goes to the media more though. They put out horrid stories and exaggerated things and made it much harder on him. Bastards.

@mydevilcat I feel that way about other actors such as Hugh Laurie, especially when they say 'Wow, he's English?!'.

But I'm glad RDJ was in Iron Man because that's where I first saw him. Since that film, I've been catching up on the many other great films he's done (what an amazing actor!) & watching loads of interviews with him. He's one of the few actors/ actresses that I have the upmost admiration for-he's such a genuine, lovely man-it almost aches to think I'll never meet him. Is that sad?!

It's been bittersweet for me to see the comeback because while I love it I am also annoyed by how fickle MEDIA and people are in general. Chaplin should have gotten him some major awards, it's so sad when I think about that because the film was brilliant! And of course Less than Zero too. Love you Robert high or LOW!

Im 18 years old and I admit that I saw RDJ for the first time in Iron Man (wich is one of my favorite movies, specially because of his performance). After that, I started searching more about him and discovered how he is an amazing actor, really talented. Ive seen some old movies from him, like Chaplin, and now Im a RDJ fan. I had no idea about his drug problems in the past, and how he is amazing as an actor and as a person.

From a historical perspective , the self serving self destructive yuppie persona Downy was playing was not that much of a strech . I am glad he lived through it all , unlike the charecter he played . While the movie may have tried to pass itself off as a warning , its demographic target audience were party animals .
