In an exclusive report, popular entertainment industry newspaper/website The Stage has claimed that Collins has been approached to play Edna Turnbladv in the Musical Hairspray. The role is currently played by Brian Conley . Collins' role is still very much in the early discussion stages and nothing concrete has yet been agreed. The Hairspray producers' interest in Collins was sparked when they saw him playing Amos Hart in Chicago in 2008.

I think he put too much anger into the thing. I watched another guy in Cambridge theatre do it, he was looking as real Amos, calm and kind.

I saw the show, not knowing he ws in it. It was only at the end I realised it was JLC. He was good and it did not show he had only done two shows.

The rest of the cast were Soooo hot and gave amazing performances.
