  • and Mobutu laughing all the way to the bank...

  • Muhammad Ali was probably laughing so hard when he heard about the geroge formean grill

  • happy birthday Muhammad, you are in a class of your own

  • i don't see why people think ali is the greatest. sure he beat a lot of greats but he clinches every time someone gets close, his like the mayweather of heavyweight resorting to cheap tactics.

  • @MyR0ach he might not have been the greatest boxer necessarily but he did give the best show of the boxers of the time, he danced around, he was charismatic and a likeable asshole all at the same time

  • George has that "Damn I ain't never fought anyone like this before" look on his face.. LMAO

  • Comment removed

  • He keeps pulling his head down.

  • He's a meat head

  • Foreman is not thinking while fighting. Frazier is smarter that Foreman. Foreman sucks.

  • @killarmy75 what?frazier is smarter than foreman?just go to the records!foreman beat frazier both by k,o.!R.I.P Frazier!

  • and the commentator is a retard . none of them punches are doing any damage at all? lol yeah right! clearly never been hit. just becasue you get hit on the arms doesnt mean it doesnt do anything... ali isnt the most skilled... again all he does is pull foremans head down...

  • Ali was pulling his head down all the time...

  • @NateTheG0v

    and why not...? O-)))

  • awesome awesome fight

  • @SteveDutchy

I am just realizing that Foreman was undefeated going into this fight. The odds were against Foreman going into this fight from a boxers perspective. The commentator said that he has not been passed the 2nd rd in the past 4yrs.That means that if you get him past 2 his stamina will start to give him problems. That's the down side to knocking everybody out quickly.Regardless of the weight class, good seasoned fighters will carry an opponents the distance to get work in.

  • @ESSENCEOFEACHTHING The odds were against Ali in this fight; not the way you said it. Foreman had endurance, but Ali did something different which he called the "rope-a-dope" on Foreman. Foreman threw everything on Ali and Ali took it! Foreman ran out of gas and Ali took him out!

  • @PsychTech

Re read what I typed.I know that Foreman was the favorite. But from a boxers perspective he had key thing's working against him which costs him the fight. From 9-14-71 leading up to this fight Foreman had 12 fights.Against Ali is his 13th.All of those fights went a maximum of 2rds except for one where he won TKO 5th rd.Here Ali carried him into deep water that he had never experienced which was past 5rds.He didn't have endurance because he had never been there.

  • @PsychTech

Ali knew that Foreman would run out of gas after 5. That's why the strategy was to get Foreman to work! Work! WORK! And he would soon run out of gas.Knocking out everyone within 2 rd's or so will eventually work against you in the sport of boxing. Our A and B class fighters are very keen on this & will almost always exploit a fighter under this condition. As seen in this fight.

  • @ESSENCEOFEACHTHING Stop putting words into Ali's mouth like Ali knew Foreman would run out of gas after 5. Ali never knew that Foreman would run out of gas after 5. Ali was in peak condition because he prepared for body shots, knowing that Foreman hits the body. Ali used the same tactic he used on Fraser to Foreman on their first fight. He said that if Foreman really hit hard and accurate he would get off the ropes.

  • @PsychTech

Come on PsychTech! Exploiting an opponents stamina is a key part of fight strategy.

  • @ESSENCEOFEACHTHING

Here...Ali said these words himself. You can't quote this when you make a point. Ali doesn't fight like everyone else think. He knows what he's doing and not by your words, but his own.

  • @ESSENCEOFEACHTHING here..watch this video. I can't paste the link, so type it yourself. type Muhammad Ali Interview- 1974

  • an era when men had real hearts compared to the times of today.

  • @amr7037 an era where the fighters ended up like ali,

  • Puissant !!!

  • he can take som puntch

  • georg is teh best slokker boxer i erver seen.mp dk

  • i love the announcement back then on every sport they really make you want to watch the sport

  • All heads must bow all tongues must confess, he is the GREATEST OF ALL TIMES

  • @om82lndn Are you by any chance, Mike Tyson?

  • @michaelyouth I'd suggest that the main reason that Ali was not the same fighter at the young age of 29 is simply that he was rather lazy and didn't train that hard, which was reflected in the fact that he had to coast through most rounds with a lot of holding. A more serious fighter, someone like a Frazier, didn't have to be pushed to train hard.

Re speculation about Ali when he was younger-we'll never know and since it's always brought up, we'll also never know if he really beat Liston.

  • @hardcorehouse Maybe you don't know, but I know. He annihilated Liston in a way that was humiliating. You've probably never seen the fight, and just talk the talk that everybody talks, about the fight being ''fixed''. Liston could not catch him. He was giving everything he had. He tried unloading on him, jabbing him, probably blinding him, but nothing helped. Ali was just too fast, with jabbing, and too quick in his footwork, and reflexes.

  • @michaelyouth ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Ali groupie lol Liston lost under very very questionable circumstances in both fights, everyone knows it.

  • @hardcorehouse He still got whopped didn´t he? He quit after 6 rounds, because of a shoulder injury, but he probably was too humiliated to continue.

He knew he could not do anything + his face was starting to get puffy since Ali jabbed him senseless. But if you want to hate Ali , out of some kind of frustration; there are many video's you can show your frustration rather than this video with this beautifull fight.

  • @michaelyouth Um, you don't have knowledge. He didn't get "whopped" at all, he looked fine which is exactly why both fights were very suspect and why Liston is still ranked as one of the top ten all-time heavyweights.

    Learn. Read. Watch. Educate thyself.

  • @hardcorehouse It's fairly easy saying: you don't have any knowledge.. I'd say watch the fight. He got a clean whopping. See and count the amount of jabs Ali threw at him. I don't remember which round it was, but I think in the 4th or 6th he gave Liston so many jabs and punches, that I thought he would go down. Look at his face,it was starting to puff, plus he did not even land ten single good punches. Not even ten. In the first round he barely touched Ali.

  • @michaelyouth LOL just keep lickin Ali's nuts you're just another groupie with neither depth nor objectivity.

  • @hardcorehouse ..Riiiiight.. I'd say watch the fight.

  • @hardcorehouse and you need to learn about boxing you dumb fuck

  • @324582782 MELTDOWN I hit a nerve with you regarding your hero ROFL. Ali, chamption of holding/wrestling in lieu of actual fighting.

  • @hardcorehouse go try that and see if you get any luck in boxing. Loser

  • @michaelyouth Liston got his ass whooped in the first fight. the only questionable fight is the second where i believe liston took a dive.

  • @theone642 True. Liston got cut, his face got swollen, he did not land 3 great punches.. I doubt he even landed one great punch. He got humiliated. All Muhammad Ali did was use his speed to stay away and jab him senseless. He beat him all night long, with the exception of round 5, where he was blinded, probably caused by a chemical used by Liston's corner. If that is not getting a whopping, then the one saying that is probably jeaulous of Ali.

  • @michaelyouth , me? not at all. sorry for the delay..I was feeding my pigeons.

My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious

  • @om82lndn No, since you said: All tongs must profess, all heads must, he is the greatest of all times.. That is something Tyson said in the Arsenio Hall show.. Figured you took it from him, or maybe you were Tyson.

  • @michaelyouth ... I know that's indeed where it's coming from... the pigeon reference and the quote are a hint..

  • Sidney, it was saddler

  • These are real fighters. I was 7 years old, my mom wake me up at 03.00 am to see this fight. She wakes me up to see all the fights of Ali, foreman or smokin joe frasier. Today vou can not see those fighters. Except Iron Mike plays in this league.

He was a fighter like these old heros. No one of the fighters today stays three rounds in charge of the action with this heros. It was an amzing time. And never comes back.

  • Who was foreman trainer in this fight

  • Ali was allowed to get away with INSANE AMOUNTS OF HOLDING in all his big fights. This really saved his ass, because if he'd been forced to fight he wouldn't have survived.

  • @hardcorehouse Foreman beat himself by being so damn clumsy, falling all over Ali, leaning on Ali, telegraphing his punches, being so damn predictable. Ali did a lot of holding and pushing Foreman because was dumb enough to keep falling all over Ali. Don't blame Ali for holding, blame Foreman for being drunk. Foreman seemed to be in a daze the whole fight.

  • @AliYourBrother Most of all blame the refs for allowing Ali's outrageous wrestling/holding, which isn't boxing. If he'd been penalized properly he'd have been forced to fight and the outcomes of some of the fights with Frazier and Foreman might've been different. The holding exhausted his opponents and allowed Ali to coast through most of each round which was clever on Ali's part but definitely NOT boxing. Foreman admits now that he shouldn't have fallen for it but he didn't know better then.

  • @hardcorehouse cool story, bro.

  • @hardcorehouse Well, Ali in his prime, no in his pre prime, as we never saw his true prime, was untouchable. Watch the Zora Folley fight, the Ernie Terell fight, the Cleveland Williams fight, the first Liston fight, he did not need any breaks. He became a smarter fighter after his exile in 1971.. He lost his reflexes. Just like Mike Tyson lost his skills after he came back out of prison.

  • Foreman had a dirty style and didn t deserve so many attention. He fighted like a band boy in the street. awful

  • @Metalkiller73 but he hit so hard

  • foremann was an arrogant fat asshole! the champ was ali!!!!

  • this the most tactical fight by Ali in the history of his career. Shows that just cause he had a set back of joining the army he can stil be "the Greatest"

  • Great to see this again on the anniversary. far better, more intense affair than I remembered 37 years ago. Funny how non-boxer Jim Brown showed more ring acumen than Joe Frazier at the end of the second.

  • Where are the point deductions for the constant holding Ali engages in here? He's got Foreman in a head lock in many instances. It's a joke!

  • in the movie "when we were kings" King tells Dundee to shut up and Ali goes off telling King "don't you ever talk to angie like that I'll whup your ass if you ever talk to him like that again" He wasn't playin King looked visibly shakin.

  • Now i learned this fight was fixed. How could we have believed for so long this was legit.

  • @RGN07 cuz ali was fightin' smartly and let him waste his energy and was callin' him every time he grabbed foreman

  • @Blaze187Killa That fight was scripted that way imho. The thing is, we all got suckered into believing it was for real. That punch by Ali in the 8th wasn't serious enough for Foreman not to recover from. Remember that single flimsy flick of a punch vs. Liston that he (Liston) couldn't recover from? You honestly believe these 2 fights were legit? C'mon.

  • @RGN07 hes that fast that you dint see it yes i believe that i mean he trained his arse off! u not see how fast his leg works were and what ur forgettin' is he works to piss his opponents off and make them want to hit him more witch throws there game off and makes them sloppy why would bruce lee copy a fakes foot work :/ u need to respect the old skool its only the new skool who are fakers

  • @Blaze187Killa Well, i guess you do believe it was a real fight. I respect that. As for me, i maintain my doubts.

  • @RGN07 his speed backs up his words and parkingsons proves it enuff dont u think? :/

  • Comment removed

  • @RGN07 Dude,Foreman was outboxed and outthought against Jimmy Young, so why couldn't Ali do the same?

  • @RGN07 they say suckers are born every second !! you one of them your mother should have strangled you while you were still a pup lmao

  • Props to Ali for winning this fight but Foreman looked tired and thin here. This was fought at 3 in the morning in Africa with the whole continent rooting for Ali. God knows what George's pre fight meal was spiked with. The shame is for George, that minus this fight - he would have been the undisputed king of the 70's. He slaughtered guys Ali struggles with (Frazier twice - piece a cake and Ken Norton). All before u even parked ur car :)

  • Ali was too much of a boxer for George Foreman...this fight exposes Foreman's weaknesses....I'd rather be a boxer than a power puncher.

  • "ALI THE GREATEST"

  • 25 years old, world champ, 40-0 with 37 KOs. Unreal.

If not for Ali, George probably goes 55-0 with 50 KOs and goes down in history as the GOAT. Remember, the mental damage from this fight took a religious epiphany and 13 years (!!!!!!!!!!!!) to recover from.

  • This was real, it wasn't worked like most modern fighters do to sell their fight, the bull who demolished frazier and norton in 2 rounds versus the matador who came back from prison, two defeats to beat a man who was supposedly invincible. He destroyed him mentally and then in the ring.

  • why boxer always grabing each head and talking like shit. maybe they cheating or maybe ali wants to joke to foreman

  • Comment removed

  • Like.

  • Ali was genius, his technique was awesome, but tactical sense was even better. HEs Revan if ya know what I mean :P

  • man listen to that, "in his past several fights he hasnt, in the past FOUR YEARS gone beyond TWO ROUNDS in any fight." it could only take a man who knew he was the greatest to even think of takin him on, and know he was gonna win!

  • takes a real (not only a boxer) It takes a man to beat george in those years. 71-74 everybody was afraid. And George was the really strong champ. And there comes the master of improvisin'. taking all those shots and then Ali said: is that all you got Gorge? They told me you can hit harder than Liston...¸and then KO in the 8 round......

  • George just seemed annoyed and angry, which is no resting.

  • @Solon1 Agreed and Foreman is also very thin looking here (like he hasn't eaten in a week) and looks tired before the fight even starts. People forget this fight was fought in the middle of the night in Africa when George probably couldn't even get room service given all of Africa was rooting for Ali. Tough spot for George. Stll, Ali did it. Can't take it away from him.

  • It's like he knew exactly what George is going to do.

  • I think Ali won because he rested on the breaks. And took George's heavy punches in the ropes.

  • This is one of the greatest contests ever.

  • 6 people lost money on dis fight

  • they got winded pretty quick

  • @thepolodon21 it was hot as hell

  • le plus beau combat d'Ali

  • Look how agile they are. Many of todays heavyweights are so big they can barely move and you rarely ever see 2 feet leave the ground at the same time.

  • now that's confidence winking at foreman at 4.18

  • @mudklot

its not the wink''' the thing that makes ali better than fights like lewis , vitali or tyson is his crazy speed

without his speed he would lose

  • @mudklot you can say that again. Foreman was a scaring!

  • Wow - Ali sure can hold behind the neck and pull his head down can't he??? Did not know that is what one would equate with real boxing!

  • Muhammad Ali floated like a butterfly and stung 5 dislikers like a bee loll

  • Foreman's hooks were fuckin' beast!

  • Jim Brown's commentary was spot on.

  • If this fight had taken place now, he would be disqualified for holding. He held George the whole fight. Also, Ali had all the advantages in this fight. George got cut, everybody hated George because of Ali's trash talking. Ali's camp had the ropes loosened, so he could lean all the way back, to the point where he was damn near touching the crowd. I read about Ali, and seen interviews, and he wasn't the greatest, look what he did to Frazer. Joe was his friend, and Ali betrayed him.

  • @bird4200 no, dundee wanted to tighten the ropes, he didnt loosen them. And the fight wasn't determined by the cut. And there are always a 'bad guy' and a good guy in boxing, Foreman was the bad guy here. A little more research reveals this. Holding yeah, but he'd get pts deduction instead, and stop, we can't say for sure. Hopkins, Saddler, all played dirty.

  • Frazier knocks down Ali because of strategic failures, Ali whooped him the hole fight until that last knockdown. Foreman goes on to fuck Frazier up with devastating punches, 6 knockdowns or something right?

Than Ali comes back and whoops Foreman, Than avenges his loss to Frazier by strategically handling his ass in the ring for a 2nd time.

    Thats why hes the greatest.

  • @RandomLevitation

You have got to be kidding me that Ali wooped Frazier in the first fight. Frazier beat his ass AND dropped him. He really beat Ali up. The third fight though, the thrilla..yeah that one Ali really beat on Frazier.

  • @suprapower101 He hit him with some good left hooks if you call that beating his ass, If you watch HD close ups, Ali snapped all night on Frazier, He hit him way more times, way faster. You could probably count every left hook that landed in that first fight, Just because Frazier can land only one good punch on Ali doesn't mean he beat his ass, For every 5 punches that landed from Ali, One punch was landed from Frazier. Granted his hooks were devastating, He took every single one of them.

  • @suprapower101 And he clowned on Frazier all night, Which proves to everyone that Ali can take a punch, which means he couldn't get his ass whooped. Frazier was swinging as hard as he could and still couldn't knock him out. Fraziers average left hook would put any professional boxer post 80's on their back, And Ali took all of them while still standing, Thats not an ass beating, thats evidence of an iron chin from the Greatest.

  • @suprapower101 Not to mention, The physical damage done by Ali was way more destructive than Frazier did ON Ali. Ali had one big cheek from so many left hooks, Fraziers eyes were swollen, he was beat up, cut up, he was relying on that haymaker/left hook to beat Ali and NO other punch at all, While Ali remained boxing him until the final rounds. Frazier was tough but not tough enough with 2-1 to Ali.

  • Clash of the Gods, but Muhammad Ali was better ... when I was a kid I had a rooster that was more or less like this ... sometimes he seemed to pick up the entire fight was going to die but when he dropped less than expected the adversary

  • in my opinion, in a rematch, Forman would beat Ali.

that's why Ali reject Forman rematch request beacuse Forman hurt Ali badly in this match even thought Ali won.

George Forman takes too much free punches from Ali in this match, not even dodging most of them and just let Ali have his free shots lol.

  • @JakeShieldsMurder Sad? Foreman has made millions selling those grills. How much have you made?

  • Ahha

  • @JoeCalzahgeTheCoward And your a dick nugget :)

  • Somebody tell George to stop bobbing his head - they're chanting "Ali, kill him!"

  • History. Not just boxing, but standing up to bullies everywhere.

  • Ali was in control of the fight from start to finish!

  • this is history. This fight should be in the history books for children in school

  • @chucknorris1231 we learned more bout him in my high school in PE it was the best time of year when i was in school PE haha

  • i wonder if the result would have been the same if ali fought the foreman that fought evander holyfield.

  • @Sholdsf It would be different in the way that Ali would beat Foreman differently. Ali wouldn't have to use his rope-a-dope, he would just use his speed and jab to wear down Foreman as the fight progressed. Foreman was slower by the time he fought Holyfield, even the younger Foreman had trouble figuring out the dancing Ali in the first 2 rounds, so I think older Foreman would be easy prey for Ali in the sense that Ali could dance forever around him.

  • @vladiator100 u might be right but i do believe the older foreman would have been a more formidable opponent starters better stamina, secondly controlled punches ali might win the bout but by decision rather than knockout

  • @Sholdsf I see no reason why a young Foreman couldn't have beat Ali. Ali outboxed Foreman on the night, no doubt, but the fight could have easily gone the other way. Ask yourself this: Why did Ali never agree to a rematch?

  • @Paraconsistant extremely good point there

  • @Paraconsistant Ali has admitted way later that Foreman's shots took the most toll on his body in his career. Ali wouldn't survive and Ali admitted that Tyson would have had his number for the fact that Tyson moved better than him and had more power. Ali was the best at the time because of the brawler type heavyweights. I'm not taking away from Ali at all though, he is one of the best, but he knows Foreman would have not made the same mistake twice.

  • @MrLava1979 watch it. Ali is the one throwing punches and Foreman puts his arms right around Ali like he is hugging him and Ali is in his arms not even holding on.

  • @MrLava1979 Foreman clinched.

  • @InnocenceExperience Ali was the clincher pretty much 90% of the time. That's what Ali did as a speed fighter. Threw in a few shots and as soon as the other got close, clinched the bastard so he couldn't hit him. It infuriated his opponents to no end. In that way, he was a bit of a genious.

  • This is really great quality, but where are parts 2 and 4?

  • Sonny Liston you are never alone !

  • goodness! y does Foreman fight as if he were out of the ring! Ali was smart and accurate in his jabs and didn' much energy uselessly while george was tryin' to reach him successlessly . sometimes, mind beats physic

  • ALI BOMAYE!

  • Ali saying to Foreman, "Ima beat dat ass", Ima beat dat ass and Ima beat dat ass."

  • 1:37 good hit

  • Ali did something impossible...he won the heavyweight championship twice, without ever losing it.

  • is it me or do they both seem to be throwing sloppy punches?

  • @liambez101 im with you dude... foremen is throwing slop.

  • @liambez101 Kinda yeah, both are awkward fighters.

  • Comment removed

  • he graped formens head because forman was a big power puncer

he was using the rope a dope style to tire him out

  • ALI was just like Tyson And i have heard Tyson talking about ali He said: He Started Loving Boxing because of ALI... Search it on YOUTUBE.. "Tyson About ALI"

  • Foreman showed no head movement....and i love George..If he would have moved his head coming in, he could have closed the gap and punished Ali without getting tagged with the right straight and left jab.

  • @NMGRepresentor How is he supposed to have head movement with Ali holding the back of his head?

  • Foreman wasn't blocking well at all in the start, but he started getting some great jabs in at Ali at the end of round one.

  • Muhammad Ali may be a little over-rated but he had incredible heart. I love watching him talk to Foreman throughout this fight, and then shaking his head wheneva he gets hit! Ali wasn't just a boxer, he was an entertainer, his fights were works of art. There'll never be another heavyweight like Ali...

  • @InternetTroll100 maybe a little overated? can you explain that to me? i think he was the greatest!! how then can he be overrated? man get your diction right dumbazz lol

  • If I was God, Ali would have died in round 1. Ans so would Lennox against Vitali. :)

  • @flouflis1a retards cant be god.

  • 7:34 - Ali Became angry.

  • Comment removed

  • Foreman kept his hands low and walked straight to Ali...dumb!

  • Fighting Ali is like fighting god

  • 4:17 the infamous wink that let the world knew he had the fight in the palm of his hand.

  • after ali retired, the boxing sport went to shit, sadly........

  • you're not supposed to be able to hit a HW champion with right hand leads constantly,Ali shocked him totally..

  • I can't believe how well foreman beat the shit out of ali these first 3 rounds and you have that dumb brit fuck asking "you wouldn't give that round to ali?" Lol local idiots who got caught up in ali's slur campaign against foreman.

  • @blindbraille ..U think Foreman won these 1st 3 rounds...what fight were u watching??? Ali completely outclassed him

  • I love how these two legends became great friends after the fight, with Foreman saying there's "no excuses for my loss" and Ali saying later in life that he knew it was his only shot at beating Big George (the cut above Foreman's eye stopping him from sparring before the fight + the Rope-a-dope method) Regardless, this was a true Clash of the Titans. Arguably the two greatest heavyweights to ever step into the ring.

  • damn thats some good crowd

  • who is who? :-)

  • @anneliste ur a retard

  • @anneliste Ali is in white trunks

  • Ali....the dirtiest clinching boxer in history! Too many people think too highly of him. He always held behind the head, which is illegal.

  • @Whammer79 Look at films of all the old fight. All the fighters did that. Sugar Ray, Gene Tunney, Max Baer, etc.

  • i believe its skill and will vs pure streigth

  • Hot damn, Ali STILL had those fast hands Foreman couldn't really get a read on 'em when they were landing early on in the fight. Still, whenever Foreman landed a few of those heavy shots, Ali weathered them extremely well. He really conditioned his mind and body to the limit in order to handle that kind of rare punching power, that I must give him credit for.

Oh yeah, I found out whenever Ali shakes his head in the ring like that he's admitting that punch did hurt him quite a bit-lol!

    ;-D

  • omg 37 kos from 40, and i thought tyson was the true ko king lmaooooo

  • ali bumaye!

  • man i love the way ali dances

  • foreman has bricks not gloves

  • this fight was over hyped speed always wins and foreman is same size as ali he was not towering over him in anyway like the fighters do against tyson and pacquaio

  • 1 Dislike? George Foreman must have watched this.

  • @DaureTube

    Actually George liked it.

    .

    The dislikes were JFrasier1, 2 and 3... ; D

  • @DaureTube haha

  • @DaureTube

and because he still can't believe this, he was here already 5 times .... ;-)

  • @icelinx haha

  • two of the best fighters ever, back when fighters had personality to this is a legendary match great post

  • ali hit him with 10 right crosses. talk about fast.
