Saw this just love Yeomen's music G & S at its very different and best. Jack was excellent and sung the role well as was Phoebe, who sang beautifully and was very entertaining. Wilfred good too. Whole cast and chorus work profess. Good on you Aussies show that to the Brits.
I do not think you understood my comment in the least Rosuav. I was not referring to the value of this production: As far as I know it may be brilliant, and certainly some of the singers whom I know personally, are good performers. My remarks were directed to the quality of the music of Arthur Sullivan...Therefore I reiterate my original question: How can the G&S works be held in such high regard?
Fair enough. I do not particularly like it, as it must be apparent, but I am very happy that obviously you had a successful season: It's such a bummer if after putting in all the hard work you have a half empty house. Good for everyone involved, specially those performers I have known for years.
Yes, I would agree with you. A lot of things would be beyond your comprehension; among them, the difference between commenting and trolling. Hint: You're doing the latter.
I can't give an unbiased review of this show, as I have been directly involved in its production (in the fly-tower - good fun!), but there are plenty of people who have enjoyed the show. (Actually, I think a good few will recall that 'trolling' is mentioned in the show itself, but
I saw it too and seeing it again this Sat. It is fantastic, music great, strong cast, voices good. Jack is fantastic and especially the women, Dame, great voice and commanding, Phoebe's voice great and has personality, and Elsie a bit older also sounds great. Lighting is different and suits the period. Also chorus are very good in this show. Can't wait, hope you enjoy it again too!!!!!
Did you go again. I went final show, fantastic again and heaps of people there. Lovely music and variety in this. Costumes really good, voices terrific and chorus again really good. Took critical family member who was really surprised and amazed. Will be going to see more the these shows in future.
Yes, I went to the matinee. Lots of people there as well, but could not convince people to come all the way to that theatre to see it with me :( Their loss!

Yes, final show was too, hope they do this again, soon. There were forms at theatre, to order a DVD, not the same as live, but maybe worth a thought.

Because its glorious music, that's why. As this production proved. Not to everyone's taste, but what music is? Its not compulsory though......

Good for you, probably better you go alone so you can really enjoy and not worry about pleasing people which can be distracting.
