Creator of Arnold (Sesame Street claymation & Nick Nicktoon), animator & producer for Henson (Sesame Street [before '01] & Dinosaur Train [now]), animator for Pee-Wee's Playhouse (ex: the Penny shorts), writer for Rugrats (original seasons with Paul Germain), & husband to Lisa Groening, Lisa Simpson's inspiration (with him as her Millhouse) & the one who came up with Helga's obsession, whilst her father Homer--yes that Homer, who inspired the cartoon character--composed the claymation's score.
@funkycomposer: Because Craig animated for & now creatively produces for the Hensons. It also why his wife's chariactured cartoon family (the Simpsons) and Paul Ruebens/Pee Wee Herman (whose show Craig animated for, alongisde Mark Mothersbaraugh--compsor for Rugrats, for whom Craig also wrote--composing the music) appeared also on Sesame Street in the Monster in the Mirror & Put Down the Duckie celebrity editions.
Haha! I caught this years ago when I was flipping through channels and came across an old episode of Sesame St. It was during the time when Hey Arnold was big, and one of my favorite cartoons, so I was like..."Hey! ... Arnold!" (sorry for the bad joke :P)
Whoa! This just blew my mind! I loved Hey Arnold back in the day and I actually remember watching this as well. NEVER connected the dots till now... cool
It is very very important to me to find out what the classical music in the background is. Somebody, anybody, please help me. I love the marching music in the background. Thank you very much for posting this.
Hey Arnold! was created by Craig Bartlett and is based on his comics starring Arnold, which he created in 1986. Using the Will Vinton facilities Walkabout Program (a student production lab), Craig Bartlett created his Arnold Escapes From Church short film which later generated two more clay-animated short films, The Arnold Waltz (1990) and Arnold Rides a Chair (1991) which eventually aired on an early-1990s episode of Sesame Street.
I saw this a thousand times when i was 5 and 6. I watched Hey Arnold a thousand times when I was 9 and 10. Now I finally see the connection at age 20. Wow.
I remember seeing this loads of times on 'Sesame Street' (they used to use the same clips quite a lot). Years later when the cartoon started here in the UK I was like "...oh yeah, I know him from somewhere". I'm not sure, but I think there's also a second short like this, that also appeared on Sesame Street.
Yeah i was wondering that if this was one before the show on Nickalodean. I wonder if Nickalodeon got the idea from this sketch just like Family Matters from Perfect Strangers or The Jeffersons from All in the Family and The Simpsons from the Tracy Ullman Show.
yea i remeber this b/c my little sister was watchin it and i was like wtf?omg.lol.i thought Sesame Street hasd signed a deal w/Nick and used him i didnt kno that this was before Nick.
OMG, I remember this. I totally forgot about this segment & that he was on Sesame Street. I remember hearing somewhere that he was claymation before he was a cartoon, but I forgot that I've seen this before.
I remember seeing this segment recently and thinking "Wait, that can't be?" Football head, that hair... God, it's him from NICK!

I always thought this was a rip off. Who would have thought that the original clay animated Hey Arnold cartoon would have wound up on Sesame Street.
