6 days until I get to pick up my Mosin... Watchin' all of nutn's mosin videos are making this the longest week of my life. But I agree with AmericaStandsStrong, I've seen you mention on multiple vids that the stripper clips aren't workin' for you, once you see some proper methods on loading 'em up, I think they'll do you much better. Just lift up the tip of that top round and push down near the rims.
Cool impromptu video..another place on youtube a guy goes into detail how to run those stripper clips. bet nutn will have it worked out soon enough. I was fortunate to end up with a Mosin that runs smooth, actually really smooth feed and cycling the action. Guess it can be a bit of a crap shoot with them...but worth the gamble! Thanx to nutnfancy for the insight & enlightenment. Would never have considered one prior to these video's.
with the stripper clips,.. place the point of your thump on top of the rounds, near the rim..INSIDE the actual groove of the clip and straight down with the point of the thumb running down inside the clip in a fast solid movement and they will slide in smooth...they ARE a pain in the @ss though until youve used them for several hundred rounds..i had to slightly bend and "perfect" the tightness of all my clips one at a time and tune them to the right tension on thier sides for each mosin i owned
Hey Nutn', some tips for the stripper clips: I'm sure you know to stack the rims correctly, and when loading the rifle just put the clip in place, lift up the front of the top round and push down on its back. Works like a charm!
hey, what mounting hardware did you use for that forward-mounted scope? I've had a lot of trouble with my current p.o.s. scope mount and can't manage to get a solid zero. any recommendations?
@mcmikeblues you can shoot on public lands here in california as long as your a certain distance out of city limits. the high desert around Victorville and Hesperia is an environment just like were nutnfancy shoots. you could also ask the calguns forums and I'm sure the guys on their can tell you some real good places.
I have been watching now for about a year and just sub'd because of this video. I LOVE this nagant! I have decided to do my own. I am no stranger to DuraCoat. I think the Advanced Tiger Stripe or Russian Special Forces DuraCoat camo pattern will make that MN look MEAN! What is the deal with the cool red dot mount on the rion sights? You will have to talk about that for the table top; which needs to get here like YESTERDAY!
looks like you got shitty copy stripper clips. It's a real PITA in the mosin world, there is a GLUT of shitty stripper clips, and it's HARD to find the originals. Of course, the only clips that work WELL, are the originals. Just FYI
With the stripper clip, there is a technique to the Mosin variety. First, don't use aftermarket models, they are total crap. Use original east bloc, Finnish, or even Chinese models. Use the top cartridge as a lever, lifting it slightly and then using it as a lever to push the others down into the magazine. It is not a subtle motion, in true Soviet fashion a bit of force is required.
Why don't you put more Duracoat on your Mosin before you improperly handle it and squeal like a giddy child while doing so you mid-life crisis having, doomsday obsessed idiot?
Just how cold was it when you were shooting this vid? Now was some very fine shooting! Way to go Nutn! I really like your modified Mosin, very cool look. Gee, eight hours out in the desert shooting...what a great way to spend the day. Oh, btw I will not tell anybody about that prototpye you were testing.
hey nutn good video but you need to learn how to use those stripper clips. by the way still digging the blade you sent me. Thanks to you and Impact guns. TNP ROCKS!!
That is some fine chilly weather shooting, and in low light no less. Can you IMAGINE fending off the German hordes at Stalingrad with that rifle in -20F weather?
Pretty glad that the 91/30 isn't an incredibly expensive piece to own. I've seen a ton of rifles on Nutnfancy's videos that fetch a beefy price on the market, but as i'm seeing, the ol' Nagants are relatively cheap. I think i'd go with more comfort pieces with mine than anything though, since i personally enjoy simple ironsights on older weapons.
Great that people appretiate these old rifles.Hows that new stock treating your shoulder?I have mine all stock and it kick like a mule, but i want to keep it all authentic.I was thinking of getting a recoil butt pad though,to make shooting it more enjoyable.
are u using surplus ammo on your evil roy? i have surplus ammo with a FMJ +steel core which i don't know if it will damage that target. i have one but don't want to shoot at it if it will dmg it pretty badly. thx for your input.
LOL. Ill be reviewing that hat shortly. It will sound like this : The mountain hardware windstopper fleece ( or whatever they call it) AWESOME! I had it first! ;-}
Mosin Nagants are cheap, fun and neat rifles to shoot but the feeding and loading problems that we see hear are the reasons why I'd prefer the Mauser 98 as a survival/hunting rifle and battle rifle.
I have a 1939 Tula Mosin Nagant. Did you put your reddot sight in the original sights place? Wondering how you have it mounted. Thanks for any feedback. I am a Vet also and love the videos
For my mosin I cut the bolt handle and made it a total of 3 inches as well as bent it down. It adds more leverage and reduces bolt strain. MUCH easier to rack a new round on mine.

Hey Nutn got something you might wanna try on those stripper clips. Take your top shell, pull it up away from the others and use it to push them down. Hope it helps.
What kind of ammo? Steel core? With sparks, I'm thinking steel. I got a case of Russian FMJBT's cheap cheap cheap; but, local ranges / forest service won't allow due to forest fire danger, even in the pouring rain. Watching this vid with envy. Mid-week? Let me know. Guys would love trading my weekends for their mid-weeks. I've abandoned the idea of stripper clips. I've been looking for those X bullet belts of the late 1800's & early 1900's.
this vid had many treats bestowed to us and one sour flavor.
Nutn Action Quotes. " OH YEAH!" and "SUCK IT" and also Nutn without a hat!
the only real complaint I have is the sound being slightly ahead of the vid but I loved everything else and I cant wait for the Mosin review :) ( I just bought one myself and now plan on obtaining a Romanian PSL to go along with the mosin in the same Cal )
keep em coming Nutn and congrats on the youtube award :D
You are loading the stripier clip wrong. You have to lift up on the upper most round and then push down. There are some other videos where others explain this a little better than I can.
Thanks for the info on the scope mount. Ive been really sketchy about which brand of mount to get. I have heard a lot of bad hype surrounding some of the different brands; but looks like you found a winner!
Nutn! You need some surplus stripper clips. Seeing you use those weird strippers is frustrating me. I can only assume that you hate using those crappy ones. If you want will send you a few of them just ask. I have no issues with my stripper clips ever.
Great Mosin vid brother, after wathing the vid ,now I will have to buy one. Big 5 is has them on sale here in Kalifornia for $99.00. reloading for these should be fun too. Am stil looking for a VZ-24, so if anyone out there knows of some let me know please. BTW, Since your did a vid with the mosin, perhaps you would consider doing one with the SMLE No.4
Wow that stripper clip is something else. I'm really glad to hear that you are going to review the Mosin Nagant. I have been collecting them for eight years now. Their are many variants and different types made. The Tula M44 and the Sako M-39 are my favorites. I think it would be good to mention that the U.S. did use the Mosin Nagant, along with the British. Also to name all the manufactures of it. Like France, Remington SIG and Bohler-Stahl. I'm really looking forward to it and good luck.
I'm gonna guess that the mosin is / will soon be the most common bolt action milsurp rifle in the US, outnumbering all others combined by a 2 :1+ ratio. In a crisis event it is very possible that you will be supported by, or are operating against, people armed with a Mosin. For this reason Nutn is correct to review this bolt action milsurp, but none others.
I love you nutnfancy but I got to go against your criticism on the mosin iron sights. I've been shooting mosins for over 5 years though so I've become pretty efficient with them.
To give an example I shot a pig (120 pound sow) at 150 yards laying down under a tree, I put the cross hair where I thought her chest would be and started slowing pulling the trigger and as soon as that thing went off she flinched and stayed down. Kill shot through the heart.
@BIackHawkDown While I think we can all agree you can get really proficient and shoot practically any gun well if you have enough practice, the issue here is how easy the sights are to use for someone who picks up the rifle with little or no prior experience with it. Of course, some find certain sights easier to use than others anyway.
Nuttin, I've heared that a gunsmith can "polish" the chamber to make the action smoother. Didnt know if you've ever heard of this? or have tried it with yours mosin
Really enjoying the Mosin vids and looking forward to the table top review. The Mosin is a great mil-surp rifle, a lot bang for the buck. However I think you opened up a can of worms in that now you need to review some of the other great war rifles. 03 Springfield, M1 Garand & Carbine, Enfield No.1 MKIII, SKS and you see the list goes on and on. Nah just kidding, but it would be nice to see at least one rifle from each country involved in WWII. Just keep the videos coming I like them all.
@Nutnfancy Disreguard my earlier question about the scope mount I found the S&K website and what do you know!?? They are right buy my families hunt camp in Warren county PA! They are a bit pricey though, The optics set up cost as much as 2 more Mosins. LOL I do have a question about the model of your scope which model is it?
Awesome stuff, as always Nutn. You need to take this new Sony camera on some backpack trips this year. I love firearms. However, sadly, due to a stupid mistake 25 years ago, I can't own one... I'm a loser. Therefore, I live through your adventure and knife videos instead.
just gonna give you some advice on loading the strip clip, put your index finger under the front of the top round, and push the back of the round down with your thumb, remember to remove your index finger before you push them all in. You were pushing them down from around the middle, making them not go in level, but at an angle. You probably figured this out already, but I figured I could take a minute out of my time to help TMP
Nutn, you are loading your rounds into the gun wrong. Grab the top bullet, pull up a little on that one and then use it to push the rest into the internal magazine. It will be a lot quicker and easier.
I own two Mosin-Nagants. The stripper clips aren’t the greatest, but if you lift the top cartridge by the bullet and use it as a lever to push the rest in, it works better…
The clips aren't the problem. I use aftermarket ones and they work just fine. The problem he is having is a combination of poor technique(about 10% of the problem) and an extractor spring that is WAY too heavy that won't move out of the way to let the rounds through or allow the bolt to cycle properly. I had the exact same problem with mine that he is having. 15 minutes with a flat head screw driver (and maybe a dremel) can solve almost every problem with that rifle.
I'm tell'n ya, if they are the same ones I bought off of Amazon, it's not the clips. Yes, they are moderately more stiff than mil-surp clips. But, they work just fine if the rifle is in working order. My Mosin pulled the exact same crap until I reduced the tension on the interruptor spring, now they load smooth as butter.
That damned ejector still chews the hell out of my thumb though.
i love this rife more so in its original wood stock. very accurate pure fun

Good camera, you can even see the bullet trajectoryl.
delbert65 11 months ago

Nutn, are you a Mormon? Just wondering and wont change anything. Don't answer if you don't wanna. : )

Kudos for leaving in the errors and difficulties, that's the difference between a review and a sales pitch.

is this gun have lot of problem ???
rohan9621 11 months ago

BIackHawkDown 11 months ago

@shoodBoutside well it is a very close round comparrison.
ironmonkeyz 11 months ago
just gonna give you some advice on loading the strip clip, put your index finger under the front of the top round, and push the back of the round down with your thumb, remember to remove your index finger before you push them all in. You were pushing them down from around the middle, making them not go in level, but at an angle. You probably figured this out already, but I figured I could take a minute out of my time to help TMP
kentgr59 11 months ago 13
@kentgr59 dude its tnp the nutnfancy project
preems95 11 months ago
Nutn, you are loading your rounds into the gun wrong. Grab the top bullet, pull up a little on that one and then use it to push the rest into the internal magazine. It will be a lot quicker and easier.
saviorslegacy 11 months ago
I own two Mosin-Nagants. The stripper clips aren’t the greatest, but if you lift the top cartridge by the bullet and use it as a lever to push the rest in, it works better…
jbellack 11 months ago
@jbellack Get the real charger clips not the after market crap ones.
Gungeek 11 months ago
@Gungeek
Elementlmage 11 months ago
@Elementlmage Correct except that you are thinking of the interrupter spring, not extractor spring...

elharlock 11 months ago
@Elementlmage No I think its the chargers.
Gungeek 11 months ago
@Gungeek
Elementlmage 11 months ago
@Elementlmage How many Mosins have you owned?
