not a bad run! I want to get my hands on one SOOO bad... ran my 4g eclipse yesterday 14.5 @99.2 w a 2.2 60ft. So i'm thinking I didn't do too bad? some people run like, 14.1, or 14 flat in stock 4gs... so now I feel like a tard. however, our track here is reaaally slow, some people said I should be in 13 sec range at sea level. whats the DA at your track?
@accordv6er That day it should have been about 850ft. That 2.2 60ft has alot to do with the ET and def could be limited by the track's prep...MPH seems good.
I now have a Buschur cat back exhaust, K&N drop in, and also a boost controller to throw on it. I have not run the car since all the mods above were added. The tracks closed here to soon. I did run it with just a boost controller and ran .2 seconds faster. The factory ECU cuts boost at 17psi so need a tune too.
it is a quick slip (no noticeable burning of the clutch). the rev's vary between 3K-5K depending on the tires (stock or dot drag) and the track condition.
buschur has some of their prototype parts done such as the FMIC (race and street) and air intake. They should be testing those very soon. They are currently working on exhaust as well. The biggest problem with the cars right now is there are no programs out there to tune the ECU yet. The always test everything including dyno numbers/logs prior to making parts available to the public. Jarrod will also be driving their test mule regularly on the street.
hey trevo 85 nice impressive pass quick question right now i drive the 08 4cyl accord coupe and getting ready to trade it in for a gen coupe but cant decide wether i want the 3.8 or 2.0t whyd u choose the 4cyl?
there were a few reasons, the number one reason was that my sponsor for the EVO, buschur racing, is building parts for the 2.0t. number two, i have had a lot of turbo four cylinder cars in the past few years and they are so much easier to get power out of and maintain good gas mileage. i was getting almost 30 mpg on E85 withon my low 11 second evo on the highway and got as high as mid 30's on my mid 11 second DSM. insurance is also cheaper on the 2.0t vs 3.8 which is another added benefit.
i also felt that i could get the same amount of power out of the 2.0t as the 3.8 and when i do, the 2.0t will still be 100 pounds lighter making the car handle better.
Yes, there are many variants, and you are right, the difference with lightweight wheels is more perceptible in AWD vehicles because the powerplant is more strained trying to spin the four corners. I had a 2002 WRX with 17" SSR Competition (those beauties weighted only 12 pounds and 13 ounces each). My best time with stock 16" wheels and rubber was 14.58. Then with the SSR's and Khumo Ecsta tires on it I mannaged 14.37 and 14.43. Not a big difference but notable.
You are correct that rotating mass does make a larger difference and the wheel/tire combo I used is quite a bit lighter. I still need to weigh them both to get a comparable number on the same scale. Although this weight does make a difference in drag racing on a 2WD car, it has a much more profound effect with regard to road racing or AWD vehicles from my experience. I plan to go back to the strip with the stock wheels and tires and to get some real world numbers soon.
I do my best in the driver seat. I uploaded a few other videos of my old EVO both in car and out and referenced them. It was an MR 6spd so most of the vids with the exception of the 12 second pass are shifting to fifth which is the hardest gear I have ever had to hit.
In that case and without any mods on it, you are an excellent driver. I can't hear any delay in your shifting, so I think that helped the most. Lighter rims always help. Because of the centrifugal force, every pound of saved weight is multiplied by 5. Do you know the weight of the stock wheels and the weight of the new ones?
No matter how I released the clutch (dumping, slipping) or where I rev'd to and how I rev'd (tried off the limiter, at lower RPM, pumping the throttle to build boost, etc.) the car would still fall on its face. Another shop has cut low 2.1 60' with stock tires so I plan to go back and see how what times I can run in with the entire car bone stock. I am thinking I can still get a 14.8 out of it.
The motor is bone stock and car was full weight including spare, jack, owners manual, etc. I weigh 205lbs. I did run with DOT drag radials and some lighter weight rims but do not feel they helped my 60' time more than a half of a tenth or so due to the 5K rev limit while the car is at a stand still. Probably gave me a tenth overall on ET.
Very good elapsed time! Car & Driver magazine already tested it and they got 15.3 sec @ 92 mph (same trap speed). I would like to know if your car has any modifications, like intake, exhaust or ECU remap... Thanks in advance

@shinobi1203
It's the track model so it does have the LSD.

Good driving, how bad is the wheel hop on the street ?
srcej6 2 years ago
Thank you for the kind words. I have never experienced any bad wheel hop with the car.

So have you done any mods since making this video ?

Yeah I've heard about these making good numbers with bolt ons and a tune. You'll have a lot of fun with it by the time you're done.

Yes, Rock Falls. Congrats on your run. I won't be able to make it on the 19th as I have a wedding that day. Good luck!

Even that will not tell the complete story though due to changes in weather, tire pressure, fuel quantity, etc.

There was also a 5-10MPH head wind that day. The shifting is difficult as the ECU will cut power if I no lift shift and the car actually runs slower.
