  • Great song. Always loved it. So much like Mathis. Great quality sound also.

  • @Livingni Maybe I'm the only one but I think that Adam had a better voice than Mathis.

But Mathis had the waight of Columbia Records backing him up. Adam only had little

    Coed Record Company .

  • When Adam Wade released 'Take Good Care of Her' in the UK waaayyy back I couldn't get to the record shop quick enough to buy it..Then came 'The Writing on the Wall' I was a fan forever. This song 'Tell Her for Me' is my all time favourite Adam Wade song, but the version I have has a richer backing to it!!! Thanks for putting the song on uTube

  • @lateforbreakfast

When I heard "Tell Her For Me" which was his first recording back in 1960, I thought this guy will be around for a long long time. But those guys from England came over and shortened the recording careers of many of our singers. My favored Adam recording was "I Can't Help It". Hank Williams wrote this great song but no one could sing it like Adam.

  • A great song. Wade sounds a lot like Johnny Mathis.

  • yes mosy people thought he sounded like Johnny Mathis and that is why he didn't make it any bigger. Me I think he was better than Mathis and he just came along to late that thing called the Beatles and the British bands that came with them got in his way.

  • @markalson1938 Me, I'm a HUGE Mathis fan since I was 12. It's on;y been recently that i have heard of Adam Wade. He sounds a lot like Johnny, whom I'm sure influenced his style. He is fab. Will have to pick up a few of his recordings.

  • love this singer thanks for posting is he still around

  • I'm sure he's still alive but I have no idea if he's still performing somewhere. I haven't heard anything about him in many years.

  • @markalson1938 Hello Markalson. I'd love to get three of Adam's songs but can't find them: Tell Her For Me; Ruby; and The Key To Love. I was wondering if you or someone might be able to email them to me possibly? Thanks.

  • @feelingman1 Send me your e-mail address to my e-mail adress and I'll try to send them to you by e-mail. I've never done it this way but I'm sure I can. My e-mail address is markalson@comcast.net.

  • I like this, thanks for posting it. do you have the one called In The Pursuit Of Happiness?

  • Yes, I think I do. I'll have to look through my old 45's to find it. I haven't gotten to it in putting all my recordings on to my computer as yet. I still have a lot to go. As soon as I find it I'll post it.

  • Thought you would like to know I just posted "Pursuit Of Happiness"

  • Just discovered this guy today ,he has a lot of tone and phrasing of the great M Mathisr

  • I discovered him about 50 years ago when this song came out. He was big for about two years then got cought up in the "Rock N' Roll" craze and the "British Invation" This happened to a lot of American singers that was comming up at that time.

  • Another bit of trivia: Adam Wade was the first Black host of a TV game show. He hosted Musical Chairs, a short-lived show in the mid-1970's.

    A great voice!

  • Love "Ruby" by him--- beautiful song

  • sounds like Johnny Mathis in a way

  • Yes...here it is! His very first charted song from 1960. Hard to believe but this guy once worked as a lab assistant to the man who discovered the Salk vaccine (Dr Jonas Salk)

A Mathis sound-a-like for sure. Great voice!

  • Yes Adam had a great voice he had 4 or five big hits then faded. I think he got ran over by the British Invation that came in the mid 60's. My favorite Adam number was "I Can't Help It"

  • I have always enjoyed the VELVETY sound of this golden track, reminiscent of the "hauntingly beautiful" vocals of dear Nat King Cole. WOW what a juicy bit of "before they made it" news you've shared !! Thank you so very much for sharing!

  • Never heard of him before, but this is pretty cool,he sounds a little like Johnny Mathis and I love him,,cheeers,,Mick...
