  • that is dishonest, putting mr krieisbergs name at the top .......i get you instead of him..

go get a life, yours preferably,

  • really good

  • beast!

  • Are you using flatwounds?

  • Wow awesome!!

  • Well transcribed, well played and great sound - good work! Do you write down what you transcribe? Would you mind sharing it? Cheers, Peter

  • where in gods name did you learn to play like that? superb!

  • Hey do you by any chance know what setting JK uses on his alesis nanoverb?

  • Great playing! Enjoyed it very much

    All the best

    Jim (Scotland UK)

  • Wow! Beautiful job! Also Love the tone you get out of your guitar - PRS right?

  • too perfect, it sounds good, but... be less tecnical and be more original.

Music is not about scales, is also about feeling. "Miles electric" would be something what you have to watch!

  • @NoGoats NoGoats, note that this is a solo transcription and as such it is not intended to be original. Transcribing and playing solos of the masters is irreplaceable if you want to learn to play well.

  • well...not exactly. Both ways are good enough to improve your playing...it depends on what you see trough the glass

But actually...what in all names, means for you "to play well"?

  • @NoGoats Playing well is pretty hard to DEFINE, but it may not be so hard to PERCEIVE. Lets say that playing well means that you can make people who themselves play well - such as Carl - want to transcribe your solos :-)

I mean, I think that for most people transcribing is the best way to learn. Most guys that I like did transcribe stuff, as far as I had the chance to ask them or read interviews with them, etc.. But anyone is free to find out what will work for him.

  • I agree on the importance of transcribing stuff as a way to improve. On the other hand, naturally the transcription is just a door to a free intrepretation/improvisation.

Just transcibing stuff is good, but there is never a sense of risk; of turning what you play in a complete mess...I say this because if you get more often in touch with a certain "risk" feeling, it helps you to set you free from the boundaries of the limits of your own musical expression (in a subconcious way).

  • @NoGoats Yeah, I agree - transcribing is immensely important but one must find his own voice, too. And you're right, there are definitely examples of people who seem to have transcribed too much. These guys can play in-the-style-of anyone, but they dont really have much of their own personality music-wise. Wolf Marshall may be about the most famous example. Balance is important.

  • Nice playing man! Everything flowed so smoothly, i loved it. and your tone is amazing.

  • Nice, especially with the chords!

  • great

  • NICE GUITAR

    NICE PLAYER =)

  • How long did it take you to transcribe this? And did you have to slow it down at all?

    Very nice

  • what guitar is that?

  • YEAH!!

  • This is great!!!

  • Well done! :)

  • Hello Carl,

So much "Respect" for all your work!!! For me one of the best homemade guitarvids demonstrations on youtube! Keep up the good work Jazz cat!!

    greetings from Belgium,

  • Wow !! Your playing just hited me. I see a lot of potencial at your playing. Amazing stuff

  • yep def one of the better guitar vids on youtube. nice stuff!

  • i see all these videos of you playing transcribed stuff you must be a killing player dude put up some originals and or vids of your group

  • Can I have some tabs?

I Just wanna learn to play somethin like thatt!?

  • Dont worry about TABs then. Start reading music, work with tunes, and start trancribing like this guy obviosly have done alot of. Thats the way you learn. There are no shortcuts, which a just working with TAB would be.

Really nice work Carl by the way. Ive just started a project with MrGul, he told me to check you out. You play great, very nice indeed :)

    Best Sandemose/Michael

  • nice

  • bro you are one crazy sob !!! amazing man ,...

  • Truly impressive chops - but also plenty of feeling, & never losing sight of the greatness of the original while truly making it your own. Thanks. This is why jazz makes the world a better place

  • Very well done!

  • As a player, I usually hate on these videos, but not this. Wonderful tone, fantastic right hand, great dynamics, good time...it's all there cuz. Congrats: you're a jazz guitar pimp.

  • WOW!!!!!

  • Wow! I know next to nothing about Jazz because it's not my thing. I'm mostly Metal, Rock, whatever. But you make me wanna learn Jazz. I need to learn those scales! What do you recommend? You can tell how I play if you see my vids, that's why i wanna learn something new like what you're playing.

  • Man, you're great!

  • Thank you!

Lots of different stuff, I've actually found that the best picking exercises are playing old shredder stuff, like Paul Gilbert-licks and whatnot. I've also played Paganini and Bach, and stuff like this you hear on the video.

  • you got it.

    good job.

  • thank you... picking sucks
