Well, it might be the first originally recorded version of the song. But other people probably sang this song long before AP Carter decided to copyright and then record it.
My mother, a native-born arkie that married an Oklahoma cowboy, used to sing this at church where we attended in Bacliff, TX back in the 70s, I remember several people singing along with her...this is the FIRST TIME I've heard the original...
