maybe a dumb question but what is the purpose of the internal watch battery? To me its the kinda crap PS3 designers do to charge someone 200 bucks for a battery replacement. Once you remove the sticker it voids the warranty. What if its just the battery inside.

@pennycop25 thats a cmos battery it is only for time and date if its not in then you will have to reset it everytime you turn it on

Thanks for the vids. I used a of your method combined with the theory used by those with IR lamps etc. Basically we need to heat the chip at a steady rate upto about 210C in order for the solder to flow. After a gently pre heat I used my heat gun which only had a low and high setting (300 & 600C) so i used it on low but at a height of 2 - 3 inches above the chip. this took about 2 mins to acheive the temp. Repeated for both main chips only and it fixed the RLOD. Still working so far : )

@scoeas1982 Plus those of us who DO have these heatguns are able to get just as hot as a reflow machine.If you get the right one it will be adjustable.i use reflow stations in the shop i work and do heatguns when i work at home.they are just as good believe me.

@H4x2X0 Im not saying anything bad about heat guns but i will tell you this my reflows with the ir station last a whole lot longer i give a 6 month warranty with them and very rarely if ever get them back. Heat gun can damage the board but hey i fixed many with the heat gun before i got an ir station so props on you for being able too fix
