4-5 assists a game does not = ball hogging. other players look to make one pass leading to the assist. kobe bryant plays in a system you will see him make passes out far away from the basket and into the post and stuff. he passes for the right reasons, to get the defense shifting. he doesnt just pass for his own personal gain.

Look at Cleveland's Offense, Lebron always has the ball and everyone plays off of him so of course he's gonna score a lot as well as have a lot of assists. Kobes 4 assists a game are based mostly on "Bail out" assists, thats where a player is aiming to slash/drive for a shot / layup / dunk but gets caught has nowhere to go with it, so to avoid a turnover or travel he passes the ball out of desperation....

@trojanluck88 well then Id like to see those passes, not here to hate, I watched the video and gave my honest appraisal. I had just come from a Jordan top 10 asts page and found them quite bootylicious. It's also my general opinion after watching kobe play that he's simply not fantastic at setting other guys up, he's good for a 6'7" SG, but not great and Jordan was better than great.

the lakers play the triangle which has given phil 10 championships where as the cavs simply have lebron do all the work and don't distribute the ball evenly throughout the team. when you watch lakers games usually every player touches the ball before they shoot where as the cavs have lebron take it hold onto it then pass or shoot with a few seconds left..

I still am a Lebron fan. But this video impressed me. Kobe is able to find his teammates. This could be because he has earned enough respect as a scorer and is always being doubled. Truly one of the greatest players in NBA history.

You know some say people that post the type of stats (with the assists mainly) like Lebron are more selfish. Look at Cleveland's Offense, Lebron always has the ball and everyone plays off of him so of course he's gonna score a lot as well as have a lot of assists. Kobe is in the Triangle Offense which is Team ball movement---not just one player dominating the ball. If Kobe played in Cleveland's system as well he too would AVG. a near Triple-Double.

You might be right, but the bottom line is Lebron is a better passer than Kobe on any day. Lebron is a natural passer like Magic. Kobe is a great passer too, but it's not that natural to him.

@JZ2001JC Dumbass, Lebron is a point-guard for Cavs, he is starting SF, but he is still in a point-forward role and will often start/play PG also...... he is SUPPOSED to handle the ball that much for gods sake, thats because he is the best passer, has best court vision and best ballhandling in that team... he runs an offense aswell as any PG in this league.
Dont compare Lebrons passing ability / unselfishness / court vision with Kobe.... Thats not Kobes game at all.

@JZ2001JC exactly what i said...finally someone who understands offenses and doesn't try to compare kobe and lebron on stats. but rather how they are utilized in their offense. they're 2 completely different players kobe is the heart of that offense, but they distribute the ball evenly throughout the team where as lebron basically plays point guard and shooting guard.

@JZ2001JC -Very nice point, the same goes for defense as well.. If you watch The Cavs Play defense you'll notice that they just allow Lebron to be a "rover" and leave his man. He basically just follows wherever the ball is and fly's in for blocks / steals. No wander he gets so many rebounds, blocks, and steals! I would be F-in pissed if I were the guy who had to guard 2 men because Lebron is on the other side of the court. lol

Kobes 4 assists a game are based mostly on "Bail out" assists, thats where a player is aiming to slash/drive for a shot / layup / dunk but gets caught has nowhere to go with it, so to avoid a turnover or travel he passes the ball out of desperation....
He is not one of those great passers like Kidd, Nash and Lebron where they will cross court a bullet pass from behind the 3PT line... thru 5 defenders and right into the hands to a player under the basket.

LOL Lebron is the prime example used by most NBA analysts as a player who likes to hog the ball for the entire shot clock and passes only when he's stuck. look at most of the passes kobe makes in this video, and almost none of them are "bail out" passes. when you need to be bailed out, you're not capable of making such complicated and fancy passes as the ones kobe did

yea i used to notice that too sometimes when turiaf played here. i think it's because ronny will try to dunk everything for the most pat, so he always goes up strong. other players, go up soft sometimes and get their stuff beat to the 10th row. still, we have a few good finishers now, in gasol and bynum.
