I don't like the odyssey cuz mom has had 2 of them one was a 1997 it had trans problems and the 05 she has now has electrical problems and I have had one van for the past 12 years with no problems at all the most major problem I have ever had with my van was a sticky caliper and it is a 91 grand caravan and it has out lasted 2 Honda's

I timed this video on my stopwatch and timed it at 7 seconds... the car starts accelerating at 0:02 and gets to 60 MPH at 0:09, so it oblivisoy gets to 60 MPH at 7 seconds... which I believe because I own one.

I think there were some real lemons with the trannys for these vans. Friends of mine had a tonne of problems with theirs, and I had a few problems with mine that were very intermittent.

Indeed it is.  Just do a Google search on Odyssey transmission failure and I'm sure you'll find plenty of info.

My advice to your parents is to have the fluid changed and then drive that thing like there's an egg under the gas pedal...

Our 99 odyssey has 175K miles and we've had 4 transmissions!!! Thank god the last replacement was at 93K and it was still under the extended warranty! fingers crossed!

Yea my uncle bought a brand new '99 or '98 I forgot but after a month or so the tranny blew out. But than again it was back in the 90's. Pretty sure they wont blow out on the new one thats coming out. Looks really nice too the 2010 model

Try 6.3 sec, what i timed atleast, still even 8 sec is way fast for a minivan. And yeah, the new odysseys have a 255 hp 3.5 V6, this one had a 240 hp V6, the 00-02 models had a 210hp 3.5L V6. This one is the fastest out of all of them because its weight-to-power ratio is much lower than the others

We used to have an 02 Odyssey until we moved outta the country. It was the fastest year of the Odyssey's so far i believe... It has 240hp, not 255 as someone stated below. And no thats not fast, but for a car this big, its pretty quick... My granparents liked ours so much they bought an 08 model, and its got slightly more power, but its heavier, so not as quick, I've driven both...

yeah right! i like the Odyssey's but that is not how fast they are. i rode in two and test drive one. The 04 i driven in did like 7.5 seconds to 60 and the newer 07 we test drove did like 8.5 seconds. The Odyssey does not have a 0-60 time of 5.3 seconds.

No they don't. The 2002-2004 models were the fastest models with 255 horsepower, doing 7.4 seconds from 0-60. The newer models have a downgraded engine with 244 horsepower, resulting in a 0-60 time of about 8. But that's fucking quick for a minivan.

Guys dont forget. The Odyssey is heavy and a FWD car with 244 hp. I mean it has too much HP for a minivan ;). But hey. Thats why they all have traction control. Turn it off and your results should be in six seconds. I tried it with my dads odyssey and i got in 5.5 seconds because of a secret weapon cold air intake. Nice vid btw. :)
