Any member can leave at any time they want to, and reapply to join, if they want to. In a more reasonable political environment without neo-Nazis and other extremists, Holocaust deniers would be challenged to prove their claims. So I would agree with you that there is an inequity here. Germany and Austria, for example, are particularly vulnerable. Oh, please. The UK built the railroads of India, which are used to capacity now. Only 500 km of new track has been laid since the British left. If people hate the British now, it is the same reason the Koreans hate the Japanese. They are taught to hate at school. Immature regimes always create an external enemy and an internal enemy to draw attention away from the government's incompetence. Millions died when the British left India and India was partitioned. The British kept the rule of law.

Like I said, the opportunities were there for the 'natives' to take. The Commonwealth is a purely voluntary association. Any member can leave at any time they want to, and reapply to join, if they want to. Britain grants a lot of immigration from former colonies and provides tens of millions in development aid, technical expertise, medical training and support for education, etc., and recently apologised for being involved with the slave trade.

Crown Land is an historical euphemism in today's world. It does not mean that the land is owned by and/or managed for the benefit of Her/His Majesty. In Canada and Australia Crown Land is Federal land which provides benefit for the national/state government. Thus, Canada and Australia have nothing to fear from Her/His Majesty. For instance, Conrad Black (Hollinger Int.) to become Lord Conrad Black, had to give up his Canadian citizenship.

I didn't mean to denigrate Canada :-), but Canada does depend largely on the earnings from natural resources. Russia comes across like it's a developing country, post-1990s, but like Egypt which plays the same card, they are nothing of the sort, but are suffering the consequences of the brutal oppression that Georgia, Israel, etc., have demonstrated is not consistent with prosperity, except for the few that are doing the oppressing, as 'frozen conflict' reporter Magomed Yevloyev discovered.

I've seen Cynthia McKinney's clip and will be interested to see what her allegations amount to. I agree there are skeletons in everyone's cupboard which weakens their position when criticising others. Pol Pot? My reading of Crown Land is, it is public land the Queen cannot sell, etc. It's referred to as Crown Land for ceremonial reasons. Jews have been persecuted for tens of centuries but don't claim their suffering is greater than others, but demand that its scale is properly acknowledged.

Because it's special to Jews/Israelis. The Israelis now have their own land so don't need anyone else's by way of a gift. You and too many others are arguing from the false premise that Judea without the Israelis would belong to what you think of as the PALs and Palestine, but it would temporarily belong to whatever tribe took it by force. Why not talk about the Normans who conquered England in 1066? Or the Chieftains of Ireland who were overthrown in Elizabethan times.

What other than double standards should the West apply? I don't see Russia, South Korea, or Thailand rushing to help the USA now, even though the USA rushed to help them during their financial crises.
Could you imagine if the government actually executed 5000 prisoners and then dumped their bodies? Wouldn't the families of these prisoners complain about their missing family member? If I had a family member who was in prison and suddenly went missing I would raise Hell.

hell will be raised, I am sure. coz in WTC died only around 3000+ ppl and that was enough for Bush to send troops to Iraq and slaughter 600'000 innocent civilians. and here - it is almost double than that - 5000 ppl ! if Saddam was hanged coz he killed some kurds - and WTC was linked to him, then what reaction should be in case of 5000 americans killed? surely it'll not simply be dismissed.
