  • Carousel is aweeeeeeeeeesome!

  • There are lots of good bassists, maybe what we need is a collection of awesome riffs and openings, enough to satisfy all of us.

  • Last song gave me bad flashbacks to rock band. I was always the bass player and this song always kicked my ass

  • Check Dream Theater's 'Panic Attack' =)))

First thing came to my mind =)))

  • TOOL-SCHISM (HOW CAN YOU FORGET A SONG LIKE THAT) BY THE WAY I GOT MY TICKETS TO TOOL DID YOU? WELL YOU SHOULD.

  • Best bass intro has to be Polk Salad Annie by Elvis from 1972

  • What about the bass intro to "Drive My Car" (also by The Beatles)?

  • My favorite bass intro is from "The Clairvoyant" by Iron Maiden.

  • Where's Roundabout by Yes!? Nice but I don't like the first...

  • this was fun, but you cannay leave John Entwhistle off, or God won't let you into heaven.

    5:15, Substitute, etc

also, Flea - I mean, no Flea?

and you should throw some Jaco Pastorius in there, rock or no....

  • when did punk became Rock n Roll? i thought punks hate Rock n Roll

  • @ArpeggioBear Rock N' Roll is a huuuuuge genre, encompassing punk, metal, and rockabilly.

  • @ArpeggioBear PS: punk is what we like to call a "subgenre." FYI :)

  • @ArpeggioBear GRRRR!!! Punk was a free movement named "punk" in the early 70s by Legs McNeil and the creation of his magazine "Punk" Then in the mid 70s an arsehole named Malcolm Mclaren took it to England where it soled out as this stupid jerky stereotype. Punk is a timeless collection of rebels. Punk=John Field, Elvis, Rollingstones, The Velvert Underground, Black Sabbath, The Ramones, Patti Smith....thats real punk!!! not greenday who are just trying to fit an image

  • LED ZEPPELIN !

  • Crash Course in Brain Surgery ?

I think that theres just too many AWESOME Bass intros

  • how can you not have "peace sells but whos buying?" ? its one of the most badass ones ever.

  • im missing under pressure queen

  • IMHO "For Whom The Bell Tolls" intro is SOOOO underrated, the riff is amazing, it can be a solo itself, not just a intro.

  • Any primus song has the best bass intro.

  • Hysteria best bas line ever :D

  • 1. For Whom The Bell Tolls

    2. Peace Sells

    3. Ace of Spades

  • I agree with oilfighter there's got to be a rhcp song in there. They have great bass lines. Also Little Green Bag comes to my mind

  • Hello? Where's the bass intro to "Sweet Child o' Mine" by Guns N' Roses (played by Duff McKagan)?!

  • frank bello (anthrax) got the time

  • What happened to leave that thing alone by rush?

  • why not clairvoyant?

  • no red hot chili peppers?

  • @oilfighter21 around the world, higher ground, factory of faith, torture me... anyone??

  • @oilfighter21 red hot chili peppers suck big black salty balls

  • @5thhokage113 fuck off u troll

  • while i love all the classic rock and metal bands i have to say Muse's players are pretty great especially Chris...he is the only great Rock bassist of my generation so he's kinda like the torchrunner

  • Tommy the Cat by Primus is better...

  • YES MUSE FOREVER this guy or girl knows what they are talking about!!!!!! (also generally agree with their other choices)

  • primus sucks :)

  • @Komanekin true they are weird, but they have some badass basslines

  • Are you judging on "commerciality" "technicality" "viscerality" or what?

So many bass intros, so little top end...

    LEMMY: Ace Of Spades

    GENE SIMMONS: 100,000 Years

    JOHN ENTWISTLE: The Real Me

  • @PoffyTheCucumber i'm going to guess he's judging on his opinion...like everyone who has ever made a list, ever, they are what he thinks are the top....so it's not really up for debate...you can go make your own video with your own choices

  • Heh!

The intro to Muse's Hysteria reminds me of the theme music from the computer game Doom.

  • Chris Wolstenholme, not particularly credited often for it, but he is one of the most talented men in rock.

  • @lilbullet111 the beginning of hysteria is f in sick, not saying that's all he's got...but trust me i see it

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground, the best bass intro.

  • @RAOTDESO johnny kick a hole in the sky is better

  • why not the real me, the who?!

  • why not ace of spades?

  • geddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think you should have included "Wating Room" by Fugazi

  • I don't give a flying shit if you're highly educated in "the art of bass" I will never find bassists from groups like muse, blink182, or micheal jackson good.

  • @MetalliMagic Then you're closed-minded and highly opinionated, can't you understand the fact that other people like that kind of music, and that your opinion is irrelevent to them?

  • @MetalliMagic lol...well enjoy your three bands, and waste your entire life experiencing only one aspect of music.,you'll thank yourself later

what's wrong with muse exactly? or michael jackson? oh wait, they aren't METAL RULZZZZ and if you found anything they did good, then you'd have to turn your metal card in..and you'd also have to turn your uniform in (safe assumption you wear the "metal" uniform, right?) by the way, muse's bass player is probably better than your favorite bands bassist

  • i wouldvve chosen tool's schism as #1 but this is pretty damn good

  • HA pauls face

  • and my friend of misery, trust, The Clairvoyant,Addicted to That Rush where are?

  • OF COURSE IS JOHN DEACON OF QUEEN WITH UNDER PRESSURE!!!!!!

  • Falto around the world y peace sells

  • @lta6494 "... And if you like them, you are a dumbass" :/

Really dude? You're just a sad individual.

  • @GeeTARnugget I am a happy individual, I am an ass though....I am just picking on you dude, I think I own their first album with Janine on the cover (?) I can't stand the lead singer's voice it's too whinny.

    What do you like lately?

  • @lta6494 manage as in youve only talked about how no classics. And if music has nothing to do with intellegince, why am I a dumbass for liking blink? You're such an idiot. And if they're not alt what are they? And what fucking bass intros are there? And to top it off you comment back on an argument months old, get a life you loser. You're pathetic.

  • @GeeTARnugget Blink sux AND you are a dumbass, I never said it made you dumb. You sure are cranky maybe you should play another instrument that won't chaffe your vagina....like the harp?

Stop being such a puss! what are you the president of blink 182 fan club?

  • How could you skip Whole Lotta Love?

  • sweet emotion?

  • DEACON!!!!!!!!

  • What about Geddy Lee? John Entwistle?

  • If you like bass intros look up

Right Next Door To Hell by Duff McKagan - Guns n' Roses

  • hah! muse @ #1 where it always should be.

  • how can you say that muse's bass is better than Metallica, Black Sabbath and other?

  • @PcdoidaoPc cause thats his opinion :)

  • @PcdoidaoPc Because that is his opinion, you dumb kid.

  • #7: Domination (Michael LePond of Symphony X)

this song kind a remind me of hyteria by muse

  • Actually, the intro to N.I.B is called "Basically".

  • All y'all are mad.

  • @Jimborocknroll90 I believe Paul Was the Primary Bassist in The Beatles. Get Your Facts Straight

  • runnin with the devil?

  • Comment removed

  • @Jimborocknroll90 mccartney was the bassist for the beatles, harrison was the lead guitarist

  • Where the fuck is Longview?

  • uh...no Rush?

  • what's the name of first intro?

  • @CapaSims

it s #1: Hysteria (Chris Wolstenholme of Muse) , it s in the description .

  • what's the name of first intro? thanks!

  • Dead kennedy's - Holyday in Cambodia...

  • love for the wolstenbeast :D

  • sea of lies by thomas miller?

    peace sells by david ellefson?

    ace of spades by lemmy?

  • +1 for Les Claypool!!

  • Every Tool song has the best bass intro ever. Seriously.

    See:

    -Disposition

    -Sober

    -The Pot

    -Schism

    -Forty Six & 2

    -Hush

  • WHAT! NEVER HEARD OF FLEA IN THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS!!!!!!

  • @LucDaRocka1 who?

  • Poor Steve Harris and his ridiculous bass intros lately didn't make the cut either...nice selections though!

  • Schism by Tool? youtu.be/UhjG47gtMCo?t=30s

  • mark hoppus suck ass!

  • @colonelgdr Maybe but you have to admit that the bass intro on "Carousel" is fucking amazing (it's the first song they wrote, they were 16 I think). He doesn't have a lot of technique and does very simple thing but his intros are the best punk rock/pop punk bass intros ever.

  • @Poulmy ok i dont like mark hoppus, and i dislike most blink songs but the intro to carousel is cool,i think its better instrumental but nevertheless only carousel has a nice bass intro yet i like whats my age again the guitar intro is great, drove me and some friends crazy for a while

  • Muse sucks man..so no it's not the best of all times

  • Great bass lines for sure...I was always hooked by "If you want me to stay" by Sly and the family stone...It was just so damn cool. And when you think of how much music is out there..you could pick a top 100 and people would still complain...lol. Great job,,,in the end all that really matters is that you all love your music,,,it's such a powerful force on so many levels in our lives.

  • I was fucking dreading Hysteria AGAIN!!!!! :OOOOO

  • Domination all the way, but i also suggest "Panic Attack" by Dream Theater, but this list is great, especially "Hysteria" and "Dazed and Confused", Chris Wolstenholme is an amazing bass player

  • Where is "Rain" (The Beatles), "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" (CCR), "Sweet Child o' Mine" (Guns N' Roses) and Taxman (The Beatles)?

  • Money-Pink floyd?

  • These are all good, but you left off the best bass intro's of ALL time... That would be the intro to Harry Nilsson's "Jump Into the Fire". Simple, but the purest of pure grooves. I don't know who the bass player was - could be Klaus Voorman, but whoever it is, did a great job.

  • Take the power back by RATM is always nice

  • fuck muse!!!

  • as cool as dazed and confused is you could have put a way better john paul jones one on! lemon song or ramble on! kudos on NIB, jerry was a race car driver & hysteria very nice choices!

  • @paulhab12 i'd agree with you if the top 10 was about best bass riff. but it's actually Intros, and on song like ramble on, even though the bass line on it KICKS FKN ASSES!!!!!!, it's not part of the intro. And still, it's his opinion, not yours :)

  • @Pouliot27 yes good point

  • andá a cagar con muse!!

  • You have a weird definition of rock 'n roll

  • lounge act Nirvana and where is Peace sells of megadeth ?!

  • muse on first place <(*) facepalm

  • @TheRockandrollboy It's a great bass intro. These are all great intros, not my personal top 10 but they are stil great.

  • where the fuck is peace sells

  • @guitarirltbh on the album "Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?" by Megadeth

  • @flyingmonkeycrap how about Ace of Spades (Motorhead) and something from Rage Against the Machine and/or Red Hot Chilly Peppers?

  • @flyingmonkeycrap saw this comp and that one was the first bass that i got

  • nothing by yes?
