@ArpeggioBear GRRRR!!! Punk was a free movement named "punk" in the early 70s by Legs McNeil and the creation of his magazine "Punk" Then in the mid 70s an arsehole named Malcolm Mclaren took it to England where it soled out as this stupid jerky stereotype. Punk is a timeless collection of rebels. Punk=John Field, Elvis, Rollingstones, The Velvert Underground, Black Sabbath, The Ramones, Patti Smith....thats real punk!!! not greenday who are just trying to fit an image
War Pigs, great opening bass line with air raid sirens. Or how about Whipping Post by Allman Bros. Or Bill Wyman opening up Monkey Man... or on and on...
Best bass player (or was) is John Entwhistle of The Who. His intro to The Real Me kicks ass! In fact the entire song is one huge bass ass kicking hell of a time!
while i love all the classic rock and metal bands i have to say Muse's players are pretty great especially Chris...he is the only great Rock bassist of my generation so he's kinda like the torchrunner
@PoffyTheCucumber i'm going to guess he's judging on his opinion...like everyone who has ever made a list, ever, they are what he thinks are the top....so it's not really up for debate...you can go make your own video with your own choices
I don't give a flying shit if you're highly educated in "the art of bass" I will never find bassists from groups like muse, blink182, or micheal jackson good.
@MetalliMagic Then you're closed-minded and highly opinionated, can't you understand the fact that other people like that kind of music, and that your opinion is irrelevent to them?
@MetalliMagic lol...well enjoy your three bands, and waste your entire life experiencing only one aspect of music.,you'll thank yourself later
what's wrong with muse exactly? or michael jackson? oh wait, they aren't METAL RULZZZZ and if you found anything they did good, then you'd have to turn your metal card in..and you'd also have to turn your uniform in (safe assumption you wear the "metal" uniform, right?) by the way, muse's bass player is probably better than your favorite bands bassist
@GeeTARnugget I am a happy individual, I am an ass though....I am just picking on you dude, I think I own their first album with Janine on the cover (?) I can't stand the lead singer's voice it's too whinny.
@lta6494 manage as in youve only talked about how no classics. And if music has nothing to do with intellegince, why am I a dumbass for liking blink? You're such an idiot. And if they're not alt what are they? And what fucking bass intros are there? And to top it off you comment back on an argument months old, get a life you loser. You're pathetic.
@GeeTARnugget Blink sux AND you are a dumbass, I never said it made you dumb. You sure are cranky maybe you should play another instrument that won't chaffe your vagina....like the harp?
Stop being such a puss! what are you the president of blink 182 fan club?
@colonelgdr Maybe but you have to admit that the bass intro on "Carousel" is fucking amazing (it's the first song they wrote, they were 16 I think). He doesn't have a lot of technique and does very simple thing but his intros are the best punk rock/pop punk bass intros ever.
@Poulmy ok i dont like mark hoppus, and i dislike most blink songs but the intro to carousel is cool,i think its better instrumental but nevertheless only carousel has a nice bass intro yet i like whats my age again the guitar intro is great, drove me and some friends crazy for a while
Great bass lines for sure...I was always hooked by "If you want me to stay" by Sly and the family stone...It was just so damn cool. And when you think of how much music is out there..you could pick a top 100 and people would still complain...lol. Great job,,,in the end all that really matters is that you all love your music,,,it's such a powerful force on so many levels in our lives.
Domination all the way, but i also suggest "Panic Attack" by Dream Theater, but this list is great, especially "Hysteria" and "Dazed and Confused", Chris Wolstenholme is an amazing bass player
These are all good, but you left off the best bass intro's of ALL time... That would be the intro to Harry Nilsson's "Jump Into the Fire". Simple, but the purest of pure grooves. I don't know who the bass player was - could be Klaus Voorman, but whoever it is, did a great job.
as cool as dazed and confused is you could have put a way better john paul jones one on! lemon song or ramble on! kudos on NIB, jerry was a race car driver & hysteria very nice choices!
@paulhab12 i'd agree with you if the top 10 was about best bass riff. but it's actually Intros, and on song like ramble on, even though the bass line on it KICKS FKN ASSES!!!!!!, it's not part of the intro. And still, it's his opinion, not yours :)
Carousel is aweeeeeeeeeesome!
