Tchaikovsky is magnificent. Every piece he composes is a whole new enticing tune that people can't get enough of. Its such a privilege to be able to play this piece. I can't wait:D
This song was one of the first classical pieces I ever purchased. I believe it was in "Everybody's Favorite" series on an LP. The record had "1812" overture on the other side, with Borodin's "Steps of Central Asia" and Wagner's "Wedding March (Lohengrin)" as finishers. These still remain some of my favorite music in the world! Thanks for the post!
Well I have to put some kind of insult in here. It wouldn't be right without one. This is the worst piece I ever heard. There, here's your insult. Now to be truthful. This is one of my absolute favorites! Tschy's the first composer that I bought a 'tape' of and I played this and 1812 over and over.
@TheHeretor Sorry! I accidentally hit the thumbs down button while trying to get the page as my mouse focus :(. He may not be my *favorite* composer, but his works are among my favorites. Symphonie No.5 save for the ending of the last movement - sorta cheesy, Cappricio Italien, and Marche Slave. This is a really nice rendition.
Again I say I've always loved this piece, and THIS IS the best performance I have heard of it. Absolutely brilliant, especially the final carnival part was great. Never heard the tambourine there before. I put this on tape, yes tape, it deserves to be on tape instead of CD, preserved in analog to really bring out the sound, especially the bass.
This has to be my favorite of any classical music piece. I just love this. And a wonderful performance. Always loved the carnival part, and love this performance of it. Wonderful!!
@danster572 perhaps... maybe it's just because I'm used to hearing it played faster - but the Berlin symphony orchestra does have a phenomenal sound, and I suppose anything would sound good virtually regardless of the tempo ;)
AdYO players LIKE THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed listening to the full version. Usually it's slit in two. Did this come off a record..I thought I heard scratches.
