Any leader who tries to convince people that we can achieve world peace is dilusional and hyper-egotistical (Obama).

Well so far by 100 million americans and countless people around the world he was so great that obama is not even fit to shine his shoes.
A funny thing happened to Ronald Reagan on the way to his place in history. At the three-quarter point, he made a sharp left turn, then another, and ended his journey going in the opposite direction from his start.
@phoenixbornagain NOT TRUE, the left believes in big goverment, in fact carter left reagan with high inflation, soaring unemployment, and a prime rate in the double digits, how did he fix it? Reaganomics and deregulating the goverment :) proof less goverment is better than big goverment like most democrats believe.
@slashboy346 More devastating then sunlight to vampires, more terrifying then the police to a prostitute, the greater terror to liberals is the one and only thing they cant defend against (unless you want to count their use of "un ungh ain't so! LOL) is truth backed by fact, both of which I now use to lay waste to the liberal lies of Reagans record...
How will President Reagan be most remembered? How, if at all, has he changed American politics and government? Has he been one of America's great presidents? Has he been a conservative president?
To what other presidencies might the Reagan administration be compared? These questions were put to seven leading political historians and presidential biographers.
20 million new jobs were created during the Reagan presidency (U.S. Statistical Abstract) -Of these 20 million new jobs: -The average hourly wage was $10/hr. -46.1% were over $28,048/yr, and another 46.2% were from $7,012-$28,048/yr, while only 6% were under $7,012/yr.
mmm now while true obama has made the number of unemployed great then any other liberal president, has our first socialist president mae the pay grade for being on walfare any better?

Reagan raised the national debt from $700 billion to $3 trillion. The United States moved from being the world's largest international creditor to the world's largest debtor nation.
Meanwhile, during Reagan's tenure, income tax rates of the top personal tax bracket dropped from 70% to 28% in 7 years, while payroll taxes increased, as well as the effective tax rates on the lower two income quintiles.
Reagan increased the GDP by 23%, added 21 million new jobs, and set in progress the longest period of fiscal growth this country has ever seen. All this while working with a Democrat House exclusively and a Democratic Senate during part of his administration. Obama has increased the national debt to 18 trillion, more than has been accumulated by all presidents until now. GDP has risen a miserable 0.1% during his term with 13.9 million jobs being eliminated. Look it up!
@MarioSMB3 I have a feeling that groups of people around the country are going to "do things" to the bias media for being in the hip pocket of the current admin. Now if that includes things like planning ways to cause damage to equipment or disrupting live broadcasts like the morning show etc, or even leveling 30 rock...who knows but I hear a lot of people thinking this might be the only way for media to get the message that if they are not going to be
@beradification Who were the contras? Reagan = "freedom fighters" fighting to take their homeland back from the dictator Daniel Ortega and his Sandinistas strong-arm army.
who are the Libyans? Obama = "freedom fighters" fighting to take their homeland back from the dictator Omar Kadafi and his Libyan strong-arm army.
Liberals points = dead in the water. HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN OBAMA PLAYED THE FOOL AGAIN..HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN" ^_^
The best of the 20th century!! Bring back the American exceptionalism that President Reagan articulated and truly believed. Poverty today is much to comfortable, which allows people to spend a lifetime on the public welfare rolls.
Reagan is right. I dont think people realize this but America(today) is probably one of (if not the) most powerful nations to ever exist. We came to power very quickly as well. People need to be proud of our country. We will not always be the "top dog" if people are not patriotic. I have been told that the greatest generation of people was the generation that lived through the great depression. but hard times are yet to come for america and people are just not as inspired as they used to be(yet)
Reagan did away with free education in state universities, raided the social security fund, killed FAIR&BALANCED NEWS by ending the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE, allowed corporations to monopolize by not enforcing the SHERMAN ANTI-TRUST ACT, espoused DEREGULATION, stopped PENALIZING employers that hired the undocumented in order to break the backs of unions&the MIDDLE CLASS. Touted the MAGIC HAND OF THE FREE MARKET (code words for BILLIONAIRES), YES HAPPY BIRTHDAY RONNIE YOU REPUBLICAN CLOWN GOD.
@poindexterwitkowsky Since your obviously have some serious issues with reality, I will just start with one. There have never been free state universities.
@poindexterwitkowsky The Fairness doctrine was and is a law created by libs who cannot compete in the free and open market. No matter how hard libs try be it MSNBC or Air America they fail to realize that they are out of touch with real America. As far as fairness goes you whiny libs have CNN ABC NBC CBS . You have that rag that nobody reads called the NY Times.Yoiu have the bitter Keith Olbermann Rosie O' Donnell and that simp Lawrence O'Donell.Cry babies all. And why should university be free?
@chrycohauler Finally something to thank Obama for something...finally. We may now thank "senator Obama for the perfect counter argument and dagger through the heart" to the liberal talking point "Reagan and the south American contra issue." HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN OBAMA PLAYED THE FOOL AGAIN..HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN"
Happy 100th Birthday Mr President..you are sorely missed. But the tide is turning.had Bush the elder Clinton and GWB follwed your plan we would have had 25 yrs of unprecidented growth.Perhaps now that the Tea Party has gained prominence within the party they will come back to supply side which any reasonable person can see worked.Coming out of the recession left by Carter Reagan policies produced 7% growth..under the failed Obama recovery we trumpet a rate less than half..So tell me,who was right
@stutwostep - you view of history must be pretty limited. During his presidency, he was able to bring about the annihilation of the world's great enemy to democracy without one US soldier firing a bullet. That is "walking the walk" to most historians whether they agree with his political views or not.
Russia's decline was sealed when Reagan came in and strengthened our military which had almost been decimated by Carter. If the rest of Eastern Europe had not realized that they had a strong ally in the US they would have not had the determination to make the break from Communism.
@Mistahbonbon111 - feel free to leave any opinions you wish, but my disclaimer clearly says vulgarity will be removed. If you can't express your opinion without using profanity you lose all credibility with me.
@Mistahbonbon111 - If you actually want to debate issues, I might have a scintilla of respect for you. Since you don't, I see that trying to defend myself against your ad hominem attacks is not worth my time. At least I have the fortitude to post videos that express my views whereas you do nothing except wandering around and attacking others. Have a nice life and don't bother to respond.
@texbookie You know why i dont post my views? Because all politics are b.s. right now. There are very few honest men left in Washington. Reagan wasn't one of them, but people treat him like a hero. I was just tired of my home page filled up with "Ronald Reagan: A true american hero!." When really, he's no better than George W. Bush.
@Mistahbonbon111 - I have more respect for people with whom I disagree with politically but at least try to change what they don't like about in this country, than people who just who just sit around and disparage those who do It is easy to criticize but to actually make a difference requires effort.
@texbookie Point being? The United States survived and thrived as a functioning democracy for around seventy years with the USSR in existence. Was Russia somehow a bigger threat in 1980-89, or were they a convenient scapegoat that was already on their way out the door due to failed economic and military policies that Republicans like Reagan could kick while not dealing with *actual* threats to our country, like the defecit and the annihilation of the middle class?
@stutwostep - Reagan was able to negotiate from a position of strength and his military build up of a US military that had been severely diminished under the hapless Carter administration gave him that position. He was able to negotiate Gorbachev into allowing the dismantling of the Iron Curtain. You can argue your point, but it was not coincidence the the Berlin wall came down shortly after his famous Brandenburg Gate speech.
@texbookie Btw he also started the Taliban, indirectly killed thousands of Kurds with chemical weapons he gave to Saddam. Funded a Central American terrorist and he halted AIDS research. Yeah, hes such a great president
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@texbookie Again though, it didn't matter as the USSR wasn't a threat militarily (save for their nuclear armament), due to hapless economic policies. Perestroika is what sunk the Soviet battleship, not chest beating from the Reagan administration. He gets credited though because he was there, and he talked tough. He was also lucky to have Gorbachev to deal with instead of Brezhnev, who could, and probably would have kept the USSR together had he survived the 80s.
@stutwostep - Except for "for their nuclear armament," that is a pretty big qualification. And perestroika was exacerbated by the Russians continual need to increase their arsenal, including nuclear, because Reagan made our defense a priority. You continually qualify your arguments with ifs, but the facts are what they are and there is no predicting what would or could have happened with your imagined parameters.
@texbookie Making a footnote that the Russians posessed a sizeable nuclear arsenal isn't a qualifier; it's an ironic aside, as Soviet nukes were not a credible threat, and perestroika came about due to Gorbachev's rise to power and the Russian's need to operate on their sluggish planned economy, not Reagan's nuclear goading, which he eventually realized, hence INF. Gorbachev was the lead actor in the USSR's fall; Reagan just had a supporting role.
The most overrated President in American history, a 900 billion deficit to 2.7 trillion, 300% in 8 years ,raised capital gains taxes from 20-to 28%, Raise fica Taxes withholding, Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act in 1986 granting amnesty to approximately 3 million illegal immigrants who entered the United States prior to January 1, 1982 , he only vetoed one spending bill in 8 years. Reagan vetoed a 14.2 billion appropriations bill (nothing),so don't blame it all on congress.
And if your post indicates the depth of your "mind," I know why so many people still continue to act so ignorantly. If you are going to have a mind of your own, please let it be one that can express itself with some degree of intelligence.
these Two-faced men use our patriotism against us and make us think that for our own interest, for our own security of our own nations, that we have to subject ourselves to all the secrecy that they impose upon us.
(Cont.) We put our own wants and opinions ahead of everyone elses, and we never try to see where the other guy's coming from. We are all Americans first. We have no sense of patriotism anymore. It's disheartening to see this. I am both black and an Independent, but I will support whomever is occupying the White House. MY country elected him or her. This man was a good President. I may not agree with his politics, but he was a fine man who did an admirable job.
@WhiteFlower, you talk about liberals being better educated and having more compassion
, but you talk about Reagan rotting in hell with Nixon. What is educated and compassionate about that remark? The problem with this country now, Republican and Democrat, rich or poor, black and white, is narcissism.
I remember learning patriotism in school, and at home, and it has stayed with me throughout my life. The Pledge of Allegiance - do kids in public school even recite it anymore? I do the best I can every day to teach my daughter what it means to be an American and why our great nation has a special destiny, to keep the flame of freedom and hope shining through even the darkest night. It is up to me, to her, and to all of us to keep that flame alive.
@YHWHisSovereign Look up Act Up New York, they have plenty of evidence to show what a heartless monster Reagan was. And they're not the only site that does. Reagan only cared about one group of people: Rich, White, Heterosexual Christians.
It is REALLY the government's position to tell someone who to have sex with and to abstain due to someone's choice and by those individual choices have some type of consequence? Yeah it sounds on face value homophobic but put it into any other example. People have to be responsible. Don't go and say people in Africa have AIDS and we don't help. We need to help people in our own country first, bottom line. You don't pay all your neighbors bills do you?
God Bless you President Reagan.....your prophetic words have turned out to be so true. Your warnings to America in this speech have been ignored and thus we are suffering as a result. When we get back to a national pride we once had; we will move forward as the leader of the free world instead of appologizing for doing whats right.
@WhiteFlowerLei76 Yeah. Like fudgepackers anonymously assreaming 500 other fudgepackers is a naturally occurring "epidemic." Spoken like a true shiteating liberal asswipe from sanfagcisco.....
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@airsoftfilms719 A good President cares about all people and doesn't turn a blind eye to the AIDS epidemic because he hopes it will kill off all the people he doesn't like. A good President doesn't give undeserved tax cuts to the wealthy and does not attack women''s rights and the rights of the poor and minorities.
Well, you won't hear a speech like that from Barack. And i find Regan to have far more charisma than Obama, because Regan speaks from his heart and is genuine, Obama tries to play the rockstar, "im-so-cool" role in the white house.
Regan is right. With all the conflicts and things happening now, we must remember to think about our history as a nation because that is the key to how we solve problems and make policies. Obama thinks we all want "change" and doesn't think about our history we love
what it means to be an American now, seems to be just being born in this country. I have had many cousins, sisters, brothers, who have faught for the American Ideal far beyond their spirit.
freedom of speech, freedom of religion , freedom of creativity, freedom of commerce.... that's what its all about. An idealistic address, from an idealistic man. Right or left, things, I think, we can all agree on, the Ideals that make us American.
"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross." - by Sinclair Lewis (1935)
...extreme nationalism (you're either with us or against us), no human rights, unprecedented secrecy, military supremacy over domestic needs, fraudulent elections, suppression of labor power and the protection and strengthening of corporate power, using religion to manipulate public opinion, controlled mass media, the use of torture, hatred of intellectuals and the list goes on.
@tolbertme sounds like a very leftward thing to me. Much government power, and a massive extension of government. Left! not right. Fascism is a left wing thing. Thanks for trying to make Reagan a left wing. USA USA USA!! Sinclair Lewis if im not mistaken was also a socialist. What a joke.
@tolbertme Sinclair Lewis said that America is "the most contradictory, the most depressing, the most stirring, of any land in the world today." He was an America hating liberal - the antithesis if Reagan.
I feel very touched and honored to be living in this great land. God could have placed me anywhere but he blessed me to be here. Thank you God and thank you Jesus for makeing me free, free indeed.
Ironically, the only fighting that the Great Patriot Ronald Reagan did during all of World War II was fighting his way to the bar with John Wayne during Happy Hour at the Hollywood Brown Derby.
@AtlasShruggery ...enlisted in the Army Enlisted Reserve on 29 April 1937, as a Private, appointed Second Lieutenant in the Officers Reserve Corps of the Cavalry on 25 May 1937, ordered to active duty on 19 April 1942.Due to eyesight difficulties, he was classified for limited service only, which excluded him from serving overseas...22 July 1943 was promoted to Captain.his units had produced some 400 training films for the Army Air Forces.
@mcv47 Duke had hoped to attend the U.S. Naval Academy and was named as an alternate selection to Annapolis, but the first choice took the appointment. When war broke out, he tried to enlist, but was rejected because of an old football injury to his shoulder, his age (34), and his status as a married father of four. He flew to Washington to plead he be allowed to join the Navy, but was turned down.So he poured himself into the war effort by making inspirational war films.
I dislike the idea of a piece of legislation competing with the constitution. I also completely support the second amendment. Getting rid of it would only set a precedent making it easier to bi pass the other 9.
@Kaleeshofkalee It is a delusion, as is democracy, as is capitalism & every other philosophy we use to define our "reality". Bush was an Imperialist president. As is Obama, the only difference is that Obama is black. And a little more intelligent. Just a little.
Freedom isn't free, not because one must work for it. But because it is an illusion.
You're right, Democrat, we aren't accepting when it comes to women's rights, black's rights, or gay's rights. We only accept American rights. These are the rights that only apply to everyone.
Remember, Democrat, you don't get your rights from being a woman, black, white, blue, brown, purple, green, or even rainbow colored. You get your rights from being an individual, a citizen of The United States of America.
Ronald Reagan was a great man indeed! A++ Liberals are fools indeed! Most liberals will never grow up! How sad indeed! If you don't love America then get the hell out of my country (America) NOW!! America is the best country in the world! A++++

Well so far by 100 million americans and countless people around the world he was so great that obama is not even fit to shine his shoes.
A funny thing happened to Ronald Reagan on the way to his place in history. At the three-quarter point, he made a sharp left turn, then another, and ended his journey going in the opposite direction from his start.
phoenixbornagain 9 months ago 19
@phoenixbornagain NOT TRUE, the left believes in big goverment, in fact carter left reagan with high inflation, soaring unemployment, and a prime rate in the double digits, how did he fix it? Reaganomics and deregulating the goverment :) proof less goverment is better than big goverment like most democrats believe.

How will President Reagan be most remembered? How, if at all, has he changed American politics and government? Has he been one of America's great presidents? Has he been a conservative president?
To what other presidencies might the Reagan administration be compared? These questions were put to seven leading political historians and presidential biographers.
phoenixbornagain 9 months ago 11

You can look it up.
Margaux177 9 months ago
@Margaux177
Look it up!

sarsanch13 11 months ago
@texbookie Point being? The United States survived and thrived as a functioning democracy for around seventy years with the USSR in existence. Was Russia somehow a bigger threat in 1980-89, or were they a convenient scapegoat that was already on their way out the door due to failed economic and military policies that Republicans like Reagan could kick while not dealing with *actual* threats to our country, like the defecit and the annihilation of the middle class?
stutwostep 11 months ago
@stutwostep - Reagan was able to negotiate from a position of strength and his military build up of a US military that had been severely diminished under the hapless Carter administration gave him that position. He was able to negotiate Gorbachev into allowing the dismantling of the Iron Curtain. You can argue your point, but it was not coincidence the the Berlin wall came down shortly after his famous Brandenburg Gate speech.

He was also lucky to have Gorbachev to deal with instead of Brezhnev, who could, and probably would have kept the USSR together had he survived the 80s.
stutwostep 11 months ago
@stutwostep - Except for "for their nuclear armament," that is a pretty big qualification. And perestroika was exacerbated by the Russians continual need to increase their arsenal, including nuclear, because Reagan made our defense a priority. You continually qualify your arguments with ifs, but the facts are what they are and there is no predicting what would or could have happened with your imagined parameters.
texbookie 11 months ago 5
@texbookie Making a footnote that the Russians posessed a sizeable nuclear arsenal isn't a qualifier; it's an ironic aside, as Soviet nukes were not a credible threat, and perestroika came about due to Gorbachev's rise to power and the Russian's need to operate on their sluggish planned economy, not Reagan's nuclear goading, which he eventually realized, hence INF. Gorbachev was the lead actor in the USSR's fall; Reagan just had a supporting role.
